3rd toe intrigues me as well. Males only have 2 so they have less balance thus females are more agile therefor explaining how Tali is a ninja.

The ring finger and pinky are bit superfluous. They help with added grip and balance out the hand, but I don't think there's any crucial task in which they are needed. I think a large and perfectly balanced index finger and middle finger, while not exactly an improvement, wouldn't inhibit you in any serious way.

The extra two digits make a huge difference if you're wielding a heavy tool or (melee) weapon. 

Without them, the handle just kinda "pivots" in your hand.

Clearly you have not considered the advantages of having five functioning fingers when carrying three full beer bottles in each hand....


Also, as you already stated, five fingers does add increased grip and stability over three fingers where it pertains to gripping the handle of an assault rifle and squeezing the trigger (don't pull it! Throws off the aim).
