But keep in mind something that tends to happen with those who post here, whos preferred LI isn't Tali. It's usually inevitable that they become defensive when other LIs get brought up.

Well, if you're a femshep, then it doesn't really matter--we rarely compare Tali to the femshep romances, for obvious reasons.
Anyway, I could probably write for a long time in regards to your question; I'm not even sure how to answer it. She's just a cute, enjoyable person. She's also in love with you even before you persue a romance.
She trusts you. She has a lot of reason to hate Cerberus, yet she's eager to join you on Freedom's Progress (though she can't, of course). I've used this analogy before: Shepard is basically standing in Hell, he asks her to join him, and despite seeing him in Hell, she's willing to basically blindly jump in, because it's you asking.
