The love for Tali is an extension of a love for ME2 in general.  Surely you don't see anything wrong with being a fan of a video game.  Those here are just more specific in supporting their favorite part of said video game.  We know that we aren't going to marry Tali in real life, it doesn't mean we can't focus on that over, say, the combat system.  ME2's focus was to make the player develop a strong connection with the characters, and it succeeded.  More people like Tali than the other characters, but does that really change anything?

As far as the trolls, I still contend that most don't care about Tali, they just want to troll, and this is the highest traffic area.  Others are a victim of hype backlash.  If you're indifferent about something, and legions of others like it, you're more apt to hate it for no reason.  Others take an us vs them look at the situation, and see Tali as an enemy to their characters.  Many reasons, none are worthy of worrying about though.
