The quarians seem to be pretty musical, creative, artistic people -- or at least they have made a couple of references to the idea.  The Geth in the incursion during ME1 were listening to a broadcast of a quarian soloist singer, Erinya on Illium mentioned that her partner loved their artwork and culture, and Tali not only expresses an interest in bringing music back to the fleet, but also mentions that the quarians love good dancers.

To me, that vein of creativity and self-expression indicates a musically fluent culture.  Often that sort of creativity comes with a willingness, or even an eagerness, to experience and appreciate things that are very different from what they know.  I have no doubt that Tali would find plenty to appreciate among the wide, wide area of the human musical landscape.

This also led me to a really odd, interesting thought about quarian anatomy
Keep in mind that what follows is is completely unfounded, other than being inspired by in-game info.
What if quarians are so musical because of some physical trait of theirs?  Think for a moment about it:  We speak to Tali in English, presumably either because she can speak it or because of a translator.  But what if speaking English keeps them from showing their vocal talents?  What if quarians have some novel vocal apparatus that allows their language to be not just tonal, but musical?

I theorized that perhaps they have a pair of independent vocal chords, allowing them to speak in not just single tones but two harmonized or discordant tones simultaneously?  Their language would likely have many many sounds, characterized by layers of subtlety indicated by whether the letters or syllables are tonally harmonized, pure, etc.  In addition, in all likelyhood speaking such a language would give them an extremely acute and developed sense of melody and harmony, and they'd probably have the most beautiful-sounding voices in the galaxy.  Imagine being able to sing two intertwined vocal parts to a song by yourself?

Anyway... I know that's just a big exercise in "what if", but I find it an intriguing idea anyhow

good thing too, atleast we won yet another way... althuogh the T-Bomb was an unfortunent event... say can anyone pull up the pages where I brought the council together and we all agree'd within like a second of eachother, it was CRAZY

Star Trek clearly set the bar with their "Universal Translators". Can't translate the accent or something. If all the aliens speak English just...because..then err I'd rather have the translators. So little known about their culture, I must read Ascension!

So I've been here for a little over a week...and the Tali folder on my desktop has already hit 340mb.
