Shepard is Suki, Jacob is in the KKK, and Tali-haters suck.

To tie it in with the argument, I'm not saying she should brohug Jacob right away, just that being openly hostile doesn't help.
Tali really wasn't hostile towards Jacob. She was very unfriendly, maybe even a little rude, but she really didn't say anything that could be considered hostile.
Probably the the worst thing she said was her "I'll loan you a grenade" in regards to Shepard blowing up Cerberus.
Well then the whole thing is probably us just blowing the situation out of proportion anyway. I didn't consider Jacob's comments particularly inflammatory either. I could see Garrus saying that as a joke to mess with her. There's nothing wrong with playful jabs at people. While I don't think that was Jacob's intention, I don't think it was much more serious than that.

I don't think so either, but I thought it was necessary to clarify that Tali was well within her rights to act negetively to it.

Don't worry, Jake wouldn't slit his wrists.

Or at least one of them. Probably the right one.

Shepard is Suki?
Referencing a piece of "fanart" earlier in which FemShep bears a striking resemblance to Suki, an established character within Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Ah yeah, no arguement there. The average person I'm sure doesn't think much of Cerberus, and by that token, its a little surprising that there isn't more animosity towards Cerberus in the game.
That said, normal people don't get 5,300 page adoration threads about them. I see the event in question as a lapse in what is normally one of my favorite Tali traits. It just makes me a little sad
I love Tali all the more for her flaws.I see her argument with Jacob as just more depth to the character.
To each his own.
And on the subject of Cerberus, I've always wondered why they don't meet with more hostility. Shepard and his crew don't exactly try to hide who they're working for. And the council even calls Shepard out for treason because of it (although he talks them down).
I think its probably a limitation of the game more than anything. Having to prove yourself at each location and facing constant resistance from people would get annoying.

They could have worked around that with a simple change armor for a few characters and the logos on the Normandy.
Make it a covert Cerberus mission, rather than a blatantly obvious one.

Well thats a different arguement altogether. Her reaction, a death glare back, was appropriate. My original arguement (I think,) was defending Jacob, since everyone here basically crucified him for the remark, when you can easily argue that Jacob's comment was within his rights. Reacting to Tali's attitude towards him.
Its just an icy interaction all around, probably deservedly so. I just don't see how people can put all the blame on one party.
Besides, if you want to hate on Jacob, use the Thane interaction

Yeah, that's pretty much how it plays out anyway, since the only people that acknowledge it are the quarians who have the ship marked, and the council who I assume have a lot of knowledge on you.
Just another small inconsistency really. There are quite a few when you look close enough
