I know, I gotcha. I'm not saying they should be better, I'm saying they need a grand explanation for why they are acting the way they are. Ashley would act that way IF I didn't romance her, but if she loves you, no reason you can't sit down and talk. Obviously plot is in mind, but it was poorly done (especially Kaiden, he was my bro!) and who the hell is the Shadow Broker and why can't Shepard do one more mission?

Agreed, that was probably my biggest complaint about ME2.  They tried to pass the ME1 relationships off as true love, yet made them react exactly the same way regardless of whether you romanced them in the first game, or never talked to them. 

I seriously wonder how much time total Bioware has spent on romance stuff for Ashley and Liara.  If you combine ME1 and ME2 does it go over an hour of planning?  2 conversations and a sex scene for ME1, and one badly thought out plot point in ME2.  I expect more from Bioware.  <_<

They don't even go into detail about why each character acts the way they do, and why I can't talk with them more.  All of my opinions on them have been shaped by thought out explanations by fans of them on this forum.  It seems to me to be a failure on Bioware's part that they couldn't put enough dialogue into the game to let me figure it out myself.

People wonder why so many people like Tali's romance, just look at how much deeper it is than two games worth of Ashley/Liara.

Don't we live in a grand state of being, my friend? Has any game had any sort of "ramification" effect (pun intended)  like Bioware has done? Bioware has set these standards, they can only blame themselves for their fans being disappointed when they're not doing the epic sh!t they've done lately (DA:O ). It's because of this (minor) consquences aspect that I love Mass Effect 1 and 2 more than DA:O. When DA:O 2 comes out..well, we'll talk then.

I like him.  He's neck and neck with Garrus for head bro.  Although Garrus probably beats him out due to better relationships with the rest of the crew.  Still, he's either top 5 or right there for me.
