Part of me doesn't believe it, refuses to believe it. But the other part of me saw the Normandy explode. I watched it all, from the tiny little porthole window in the escape pod. So close, and yet so far away. Close enough to imagine for just one second that I could have saved you. We saw the final pod jettison, and when the Alliance frigates came to collect us I was so sure that you would be on it, with Joker. I was so sure, Shepard.

But I was wrong. Joker said he saw you get thrown out into space. There's a part of me that knows you must be dead. The engineer in me, the part that knows that a Hughes-Mystromm Field Converter will always run thirty percent hotter under load and it doesn't care how much you wish for it not to. Physics is an unforgiving master, Shepard.

But I still dream. I still hope. Hope was all we had left in those few final days before Ilos. Hope was the gift you gave to us. You taught us how to hope again. All of us. Garrus, Joker, everyone on the Normandy. There was no hope. Not really. Not after we learned what Soverign was. What the Reapers were. What we faced. It was no surprise that Saren accepted his fate. How can one fight a god? But you gave us that hope. Your absolute refusal to give up, to stop, to roll over and die.

You humans have a saying. Where there's life, there's hope. Until I traveled with you to Ilos and fought beside you on the Citadel I never truly understood that. But I understand now. In order to have a change of fortunes at the last minute, you must push your fortunes to the last minute. I still hope, Shepard. I know there can be none, but still I hope. You taught me that.

You will never read this letter. Just know that in the heart of this one small, insignificant Quarian traveler you will never be forgotten. All of the things I wanted to say that were unsaid between us. All of the things I wanted to do that were not done. They will exist here, always, as will you.

I love you. I did not realize how much until it was too late. Too late for us. But maybe not too late for hope.

Come back to me, Shepard.

I'm still hoping.

Amazing. Beautiful. Reading it again.

Sorry, not in the mood to do so at present time. It's late here and I'm about go to bed. Regardless, the Quarians are not reknowned for their military might. That would fall to the Turians, the Krogans and yes, even humanity in the ME universe. The Asari are often overlooked yet are far more numerous, powerful and potentially dangerous than their surface flighty charms might suggest. In a fight between the Geth and the Quarians as things currently stand I'd bet on the Geth.

The Quarians couldn't handle them when they were at their strongest. They sure as hell can't handle them in a stand-up fight now in their weakened state, even more so considering the Geth appear to have advanced even further since the Morning War. IMO, Kal has it right: Throw the Quarian fleet at the Geth and all the admirals are getting back is shredded metal (and it won't be just be Geth metal). The Geth have the potential to be the mightiest military might in the entire galaxy due to their platform logistics. No pain. No fear. No need for rest or food/drink. Some units able to repair while on the field of battle under own power. Speed of light or faster internal communications, etc.

They sat in ‘Dark Star’, watching the others dance to the throbbing music of the club. Shepard sat with a glass in his hand filled with something he couldn’t remember. He wore his Cerberus dress uniform. A neat white and black suit he wore on special occasions. He had decided to wear it instead of his armor, which lacked comfort when he sat down to enjoy himself. Garrus sat across form him his hands tapping the table to the beat of the music. Like the commander, he wore a Turian form of a dress uniform, with the Cerberus logo plastered on his black, white and dark blue uniform. Adjacent to Shepard sat Tali who gazed at the ceiling, amused by the twinkling effect; a simulation of beautiful stars in the Galaxy.

A drunk Turian approached the group of three and partially spilled his drink all over the table; tripping under his feet.

“Whats up?” the intruder yelled, swallowing another mouthful of his alcohol. Tali found Shepard amused by the Turian’s drunkenness. She found it awfully funny...and disturbing...in the good way.

“Whats your name?” Shepard asked, a cheeky smile spreading across his lips. The Turian laughed for a few seconds before sputtering out his name.

“Daren Sloahac” the words rolled of his tongue. Garrus butted in.

“Daren, how you doing?” he asked waving his hand in greeting.

“Nothin much...just wanted to...” a burp belched from Daren. “Just wanted to say hi to you guys. You guys...are awesome!” He threw his drink behind him, crashing into an asari’s head. The three; shocked with what he had done, looked over expecting the woman to yelp in pain and anger. It seemed she was too intoxicated to notice what hit her. She continued dancing, oblivious to what had happened.

“You. You. You. Are a legend my man.” Daren pointed towards Shepard.

“And you, Your like a brother!” Daren shifted his gaze towards Garrus. Garrus nodded in annoyance.

“And your hawt.” Daren blurted, before belching in front of Tali’s face. Before Tali could sarcastically say thanks, she saw condensation form on the outside of her visor; the stench of alcohol from Daren’s breath condensed on the glass, blinding Tali. She squealed and attempted to rub the vapor off with her hands. Shepard laughed hysterically until Tali wiped it off. He stopped when he saw her visor push towards his direction; a glare he could see through her mask. He was sleeping on the couch tonight.

Later that night...

“Tali...” Shepard shifted uncomfortably on the couch. “Tali...”

“What?” She hissed under her breath, not bothering to turn around to face Shepard.

“I’m sorry.” He pouted innocently, hoping for some attention.

She turned around to face him and giggled.

“Ah Shepard, the hero of Eden Prime, the savior of the Citadel...You can conquer all can’t you? Yet you can’t even conquer your own bed.”

“We’ll see about that.” Shepard replied getting off the couch.

“You’re going to have to fight me for it.” She replied.

“Looking forward to it.”

plus who knows how that would affect Tali? I'd put my money on badly.

not that anyone was arguing against that, I just felt like saying that. Ate up time. *goes back to paper*

I concur. That paragon peace option is definitely the route to go, because this would NOT end well for anyone involved. Quarians get slaughtered, geth take heavy losses, and Shepard would lose two factions to help him fight the reapers.

plus who knows how that would affect Tali? I'd put my money on badly.

not that anyone was arguing against that, I just felt like saying that. Ate up time. *goes back to paper*

I added this while you were posting:

The Quarians couldn't handle them when they were at their strongest.
They sure as hell can't handle them in a stand-up fight now in their
weakened state, even more so considering the Geth appear to have
advanced even further since the Morning War. IMO, Kal has it
right: Throw the Quarian fleet at the Geth and all the admirals are
getting back is shredded metal (and it won't be just be Geth metal). The
Geth have the potential to be the mightiest military might in the
entire galaxy due to their platform logistics. No pain. No fear. No need
for rest or food/drink. Some units able to repair while on the field of
battle under own power. Speed of light or faster internal
communications, etc.

They're pretty much super soldiers.

Also, lets not forget that the system that has Haestrom in it, that atleast one of those planets has 5000 to 10000 geth ships docked at it.
Thats... alot.

They tell me you're dead.

All of us.

Awesome sauce.
