If it wasn't for The Illusive Man, Shepard would be splattered over a half-mile of terrian.
One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness
If that one good deed is good enough it is. Saving the entire galaxy from being assimilated into sentient machines, overrides some unethical experiments that may or may not have directly involved him.
He didnt save the galaxy, shepard did. TIM just sat in his chair and smoked a joint.
So we're ignoring the part where he revived him and gave him the ship, crew and information necessary?
All Tali fans, read this! IT'S UP TO US TO KEEP TALI ALIVE! 3.0!!

One right doesnt make up for many, many wrongs.
And if it was only to 'protect' humanity I might be okay with it. Its the whole thing about ensuring human dominance over every other race in the galaxy that I have a slight issue with.
In all seriousness I like TIM but I wouldnt actually want to rule over other species. Id want to be equal with them all and live peacefully with them.

Yes, because in the end, TIM is a manipulator. He wants to manipulate you. He didn't revive you for humanity, He revived you for his own goals for humanity, no matter who supported him or was against him. If I stand up and shoot him in the face then it was his fault for bringing Shepard back from the deadPhil725 wrote...

yeah that was his good deed. he saved 1 man but he wasnt the one who saved the galaxy. So imho it not enough to redeem all the horrible things hes been party too. experimenting on children, unleashing tresher maws on marines, sending colonies husks and many other things.

So does the TIM = Hitler side win?
I don't think so. TIM does not appear anywhere near as disconnected from reality as Hitler. Furthermore, I am not convinced TIM actually hates aliens; he will use them if they are useful and if not they can either stand in his way and be crushed or step aside and not hear more from him. His focus is squarely on humanity's fortunes, though it wouldn't surprise me if he envisions a position of power and influence behind the scenes for himself should humanity come to dominate, similar to the his current role as TIM.

Sounds like a scapegoat....Like the scapegoat that Hitler used to blame Jews for the ills of Germany.

My armor is Contempt.
In the name of the Emperor, let none survive.
I'm not opposed to TIM's plan to make humanity strong. But I am opposed to his methods. Cerberus could be a worthwhile organization, with the right guidance. TIM's got a point: the Council has the Spectres, the salarians have the STG, the asari have their commandos, humanity needs a "dirty deeds" team, too.

even if he did offer a deal to Shepard benefitting Tali, it would probably be a thinly veiled Faustian bargain.

But is there any proof he's personally power-mad? That's the part I'm not seeing. I think he'd be content to stay right where he is in the shadows even as humanity rises to the top of the heap.The_KFD_Case wrote...

It is conceivable that one wants to see a certain faction successful without actively wishing to see other factions damaged or destroyed.
TIM is nothing if not pragmatic, putting personal feelings aside in favour of the big picture.

TIM wants to see humanity seize its rising star. I agree with that sentiment. Whether TIM is also a rabid human supremacist is another matter. He might be.
