Question: If you were given the opportunity to exchange places with Shepard, would you? I this instance, you would enter into a "The Fly" style transporty thing, and would step out on the otherside on the Normandy SR2, and Shepard as he was would now cease to exist. You take over his life where he left off, Tali and all. Here's the catch, though: you don't get any of Shepard's training or experience, just what you can bring to the table. This obviously may decrease your chances of defeating the Reaper threat, threatening the galaxy and all that are in it. Do you take the chance and get everything Shepard has/could have, or leave things up to Shepard?

Frankly I'd remain as I am and allow Shepard to continue his life. Shepard is the man that made it all happen and stepping in would only interfere with everything just so we could get a taste of the high life in one of his peak moments.

You know those moments, after he's wooed the girl for you, things have stopped shooting at him and you're safely tucked on the Normandy? Yeah try imagining if you stepped into Shepard's shoes the second they landed on the collector ship.

Having me there would ruin more things than just the Reaper war. I'd end up getting the majority of the crew, team and friends killed. There's really no way I could enjoy myself knowing I'd be the cause of so much misery.

We touched on this yesterday, but at the end of the day, if you're actually presented with this type of situation, you're gonna choose the person you care for every time. Sitting back from it, thinking hypothetically, you can argue you might go all Spock with the needs of the many, but if you were actually thrown into the hotseat with a loved one on the line versus a bunch of complete strangers you have never, and likely would never meet, I know I'd always pick the person I cared for. It's just human nature. The person may resent you or the situation at first, but I'm pretty sure they would eventually understand that it was done out of love. But really, even if they hate you forever, I'd still be happy with my decision, because someone that I love is still alive.

Edit: some may say that make me a cold, uncaring person, but I think it means just the opposite:wub:

I'm a Paragon, dammit!  Don't ever tell me the odds, I'm bringing EVERYONE home alive through sheer force of will and the power of concentrated badassery.  Virmire was a fluke, I had a cold that day.

Seriously though?  If there was absolutely no other way, and I had to make a forced crap decision between colony or Tali, I choose Tali.  Sorry colonists, but she's been invaluable in fighting off two reapers so far.  I need her for the metric ton of reapers still left to kill.  For the greater good!

Ahhhhhh, now it gets interesting. It's still the same basic situation, though. You're still gonna pick the one you feel you can't live without. Everyone says love is equal, but it's not, favouritism exists in all things. The only differences really would be that, personally, I would have a great deal more regret to deal with, and the person I saved would likely not resent me, because they would know that I had a very difficult and personal decision to make.

So either I pick my friend, lover and fellow combatant that's been through hell and back TWICE, or a pick the random colony that couldn't defend itself YET AGAIN that has no benefit to the over all scheme of the ongoing conflict.

Tali has a mountain of experience vital to the ongoing campaign and she's part of the single most crack team that has ever graced the galactic scene.

Yeah, Tali's earned that rescue. She may well hate me for it at first but I'd rather be hated and have a firend at my back than to be alone and idolized.

Tali so hard.

Then we did a bad job paying attention to who was the real one now didn't we? 

If it did come up (somehow...) I would make the choice based on who was the one that did the job I needed them to do. The one that didn't let me down would be the real Tali, everytime.

She'll always be the one that thinks of others and that's why it's our job to watch and protect her.

No you could.... in your dreams. That is what Ashley said, okay it isn't the same but it is the closest to the real thing Shep could get.

I remember something i read in a Goosebumbps book when i was a kid.  You have to cut each one and see which one has the right color blood.  If its green than its a fake. problem solved
