The sunshine was nice and I was rarely, if ever, sick when I lived in southern California, but it's not always warm there either. Sure, if one is used to the artctic winds of northern Canada it may seem mild but your body acclimatizes to the local conditions and before you know it when the "winter" season sets in for SoCal you feel the cold and rue the short days of daylight nonetheless.

Freezing to death isn't a bad way to go.  You just feel peaceful and fall asleep.  It sure beats heatstroke or dehydration.  Just sayin'.
