The way I interpreted that last beacon image leads me to the conclusion that it showed what had become of the Protheans - what they were turned in to. I'm still banking on the non-modified Protheans looking like those giant tentacled faced statues on Ilos in ME1.

The Paragon option isn't to unleash an uncontrolled Krogan population on the galaxy, it's to keep the option of curing the genophage in the future.  Mordin says it would take years to create a cure - there's plenty of time to work on it quietly while the Krogan get their act together, and introduce it when the time is right.

Destroying the data doesn't prevent a cure either, but requires starting from scratch.

I understand that, I was referring to whether you support the genophage -- that is, whether you agree with Mordin or not, not only whether you keep or destroy the genophage.

It is true that they don't give you the option of curing the genophage right away, and I did choose to keep the data because it is better to have the knowledge in case it is needed, or can be used in a beneficial way.  I wonder, though... if you COULD create a genophage cure right away, would that be the Paragon option?

I highly doubt that was actually the case though.  Mordin makes it clear that all organic parts have been replaced by tech over the years with the collectors.  There is no point in leaving the collector leader with a brain to think.  Its only detremental to the reaper's plans.

The situation there is more projecting our emotions into the situation, thinking about how we would feel in his position, when in reality, the collector leader is nothing like us. 

Plus, I would think I would prefer a quick and painless death over years of being a mindless slave.

But, nonetheless, perhaps some intellectual or emotional capacity remained within the Collector general. After all, he was a mindless slave for many years before Harbinger released him.

I don't see it though.  If I was going to go through the process of repurposing a species to use as my slaves, the absolute first thing I'm getting rid of is free thought.  That's quite a bit more important than replacing digestive systems or whatever with tech.

Also, Mordin mentions many "cloned generations" at one point I believe, so even the argument that the general was alive and possessed a longer time doesn't seem to hold weight with me.  Free thought had to have gone in the first generation of collectors.  I doubt the general has been alive 50k years.

He was modified.

He was lost and confused at being left alone. He was fully aware of what was coming to him and that his only companionship had ditched him.

He was modified.

They were modified. I really dont think the Protheans looked like giant bugs.

Moddified perhaps but not like the rest of them, It just seemed like there was still some of that initial prothean left in him and he was filled with such enormous regret. Being able to see everything that had happened but not being able to do anything to stop it. And to be freed only to die. Although after an near eternity of slavery it might have been something he was longing for.
