So, there's specific things that apparently your dog shows an interest in.
Like a boat wreck at the docks to the Mage tower.
Does anyone have a list of where all these spots are?
List of landmarks for your dog?

Well, if you ask him if he sees anything interesting when standing near the boat, it gets you a codex entry. So I'd like to find them all.

Hmm. Bumping this for shared curiosity. I'm running with Dog too and just gotta remember to ask him every few steps I guess.

I've been using (or abusing) the Tab key to find anything of interest.
Still not certain who would be interested in some of the odd dog-slobbered gifts he finds for me, though.

The gifts Dog digs up are best gifted back to Dog himself, that's also the purpose of the various meat covered bones you find.

LOL when I saw the subject of this, my first thought was that the landmarks were put into the game solely to provide some targets for the dog to pee on (mark it's territory)
Hmm I wonder if there is an achievement for it too, if you manage to find them all the have the dog mark them all.
There's one by the hermit in the brelician forest.
There's a tree near the grand old oak npc in the forest as well.
I can't remember the other's I've seen right now, but I have seen a fair number of them.

The hermit's tent in the forest
The tree near the Poet Tree
By the windmill in Redcliff
In the castle courtyard of Arl Eamon's castle (Redcliff castle)
Outside of Lothering near one of the bandit camps for the bandit quest there
There's one near a tent in the Dalish camp
One down by an overturned boat, at the location on the lakeshore leading to the Mage Tower
I think those are about the only one's I have ever noticed actually. I can't remember seeing any others.
I don't think I've seen any landmarks inside or in the Deep Roads though
I can only think of outdoor locations.
Actually I'm not sure there are any inside of Denerim either.

I liked giving the dog bones and the soggy cake and panaloons to my other characters.

The gifts are meant for the dog, however they made him 100% loyal, so giving him gifts doesn't do much. You can just give them to anyone for the standard bonus.

I managed to get about 5 when my Rogue gave Alistair the Pantaloons.
But does anyone know the point to the landmarks other than the Codex entries?

Dog gains a boost to his combat abilities when Mabari Dominance is in effect.
Also, there is one Landmark Cart in the ruined Denerim Marketplace, during the Final Battle run.

You can get the items through dog's searching anywhere, they are not tied to a single location. Just spam the search requests.
With my mage I spammed them till he brought me the staff, as that is pretty nice to have at the beginning of Lothering.
The real point is Mabari Dominance. Selecting Dog and clicking on the landmarks with him selected.
