I have seen countless threads that have said that the bonus armors are the most bogus things ever invented for Mass Effect 2. I though it would be nice to actually create a thread that shows how, from a metagaming perspective, that the Bonus armor is one of the most helpful things that grant some powerful boosts in power. (If you do not have these armors than it's alright. The N7 armor is a great set of customizable armor)

Note This forum is just me saying how stat wise, The Armor is a very helpful tool. I am not saying it's the best visual tool. If you want to argue that the Armor is not good because you can't take the Helmet off, than you should most likely go to a forum that is addressing that problem.

Image IPB
Blood Dragon Armor: (with purchase of Dragon Age: Origins)

- Increases power damage by 15%
- Increases shield strength by 10%

Compared to the N7 Armor, The Blood Dragon Armor grants the highest percentage of Power Increase. Using all the Promotionals (Dr. Pepper and Store bought Items) The power Increase would only land up to 13%. On top of trying to boost Power, you loose space toward increasing any of your Shield Strength (The only Viable replacement would be increasing your health 10% with the Leg armor Piece) If you are playing a character that uses alot of techniques than the Blood Dragon Armor is the best.

Image IPB
Cereberus Assualt Armor: (Free with Cereberus Network)

- Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by 10%
- Increases shields by 10%
- Increases health by 10%

This Newer Set of Armor is the most variable and easily the most useful to use if you have a problem with surviving in the game. Recreating this set of stats is somewhat difficult. From What I could create, my stats turned out to be: Shield=8%, health 10%, and Heavy Weapon Ammo 10%

So if you wish to have a a few extra percentage with this variation than the Cereberus Armor is your Choice for sure.

Image IPB
Terminus Armor: (Gamestop Preorder Promotional)

- Increases sprint speed by 10%
- All weapons have +10% reserve ammunition
- Increase shields by 15%

This armor has the highest shield concentration with the benefits of extra ammo and an increase in sprint speed. This is a great variable armor if play with a Soldier class. Increasing the Soldiers already ridiculous Sprint Speed will have enemies seeming as though they are standing still. Along with the heightened sprint Speed, you are granted more ammo and more shields. With these elements, you are a monster on the battlefield while wearing this set of armor.

TheClosest I could get to these stats was: Increase Shields 8% and increase speed 10%.

Image IPB
Collectors Armor (Collectors Edition, or Downloadable Version)

- Increases health by 20%
- Increases storm speed by 10%
- Increases regeneration rate by 10%

The greatest survivors armor in the game. The highest boost in health percentage wise. With that, you are also given an increase to storm speed and even health regeneration. If you are a soldier acting like a variable tank for your team than collectors armor would be your greatest friend. You can take lots of hits and would have to wait far less for health regeneration than with any other armor.

The Closest Comparison is: Shield Regeneration -10%, Storm Speed +10%, and Health at 13%

Image IPB
Inferno Armor (Best Buy, Amazon Promotionals)

- Negotiation bonus increase by 10%
- Increases power damage by 10%
- Increases storm speed by 10%

An interesting armor. It's biggest intrigue comes from it's 10% increase to negotiation. With this increase, it is easier to choose either Paragon or Renegade choices without having to earn so many points toward each respective attribute. Along with that interesting power, you gain a boost in power and storm speed. This armors closest N7 Comparison is: Negotiation 10%, Power 8% and Storm Speed 10%.

(Thanks to SmilingMirror and Grand_Commander13 for Correcting me)

((Whoot Finally done with OP, Will Update As More Armors come out, if they come out.))

N7 can grant you 13% bonus power. default n7 give you 3, one piece give you 5, and dr pepper give you another 5. but you won't get that for awhile. i wore dragon armor on my engineer for first 1/2 of the game, then switched over because N7 grants more customization. I use 10% power, 10% shield and 10% health option. i don't mind the ugly 5% power dr pepper goggles

You can actually use two methods to duplicate Cerberus Assault Armor (depends on which of head and chest gets health and which gets shield; I recommend giving health to head as you'll be forced into the N7 Breather Helmet if you wear a Sentry Interface on breath mask missions). And, to be honest, the extra heavy weapon ammo is useless unless you want to two-shot with the Cain, so going +10% shields and +20% health with N7 armor would be better.

Still, Cerberus Assault Armor is dang good before you get the Life Support Webbing (on the Citadel any time after Freedom's Progress). Heck, even after that it's dang nice armor before you finish Horizon. Falls behind once the second wave of armor pieces opens up though.

Max N7 Armor Power Damage is 13% not 12%, by the way. Blood Dragon Armor is just stylish, and is probably the best piece of armor for Engineers. Terminus is pretty novel; I'd say it's probably the most well-balanced armor in the game; Cerberus Assault Armor is also pretty balanced but can actually be surpassed in usefulness because one of its bonuses is lousy and has an overpowered item (*glares at Life Support Harness*) in its slot.

You can get +15% shields + 10% storm speed + your choice of shoulders with N7 armor.
You can get +18% shields or an additional +10% health if you forgo the storm speed bonus.

I liked the Collector Armor a lot for soldier. Gives 10% storm speed, 20% health, and 10% regen rate. With this set up you will have insanely fast storm speed once you get Commando. This is great for Adrenaline Rush+Sprint to flank position with Revenant. The health boost also synergizes with Hardened AR, since the damage reduction only works with health.

It is ugly though.

The bonus armours are great for early game but by the end I am decked out in the N7 gears.

In my mind, each armor has one bonus that makes it shine. The others can generally be gotten with N7 armor.

Collector Armor - The main boost here is the Regen boost combined with the extra health. It's basically an extra second or two to realize that you're about to die and find cover (time in seconds is an estimate). The +20% Health isn't unique at all, as the N7 Armor can get as high as 28% easily.

Cerberus Assault Armor - A nice general-purpose set, but the bonuses aren't all that amazing overall. I'd use it in the beginning until I can get better stuff.

Blood Dragon Armor - The Power Damage bonus is what makes this armor unique. Devs have confirmed that the Power Damage ability hits every ability, including Ammo Powers, so when in doubt, the Blood Dragon Armor is a solid offensive investment.

Terminus Armor - Shields are where this armor shines. Everything else is just a nice bonus.

Inferno Armor - The Inferno Armor isn't actually all that great, to be honest. All of it's bonuses are matched or exceeded by the N7 Armor.

That's my take on all the armors. That's just me, though.

Inferno armor is decent if you're looking to get through some tough persuasion checks early in the game, sometimes even later. On my renegade run I definitely failed several of the checks (Elias Kelham and the Legion/Tali fight).

The reason I'm not a big fan of the DLC armours is that their balance is a bit off. My custom N7 set is +5% Weapon/Power Damage, +10% Headshot Damage, +10% Health, +5% Shields. And all-rounder. The only armour that goes anywhere near that is the Cerberus armour, and extra 5% to my shields plus some extra heavy ammo isn't worth the loss of all those damage bonuses.

All armors are worthless because you have to go up to the Captain's Cabin to change, and that's not worth the two loading screens until after you beat the game and can call Tali up for some Shepard time. =P

For reals, though, I think the complaint is about not being able to see Shep's face with the full body armors. Armor is such a minor upgrade that people will gladly forgo it for better looking cut scenes.

to be honest I cannot tell a difference between these armors, I hate having some crap on my head so I just stick with N7 armor + strength boosting pads and no headgear.

That's the point being made. It would be one thing if the DLC armour was more powerful than the N7 armour, but in reality, it isn't.

Still, I like the look of the Collector and Cerberus armour. I don't normally wear them, of course, but they look nice. N7 looks better though.

The first quest can be done after purchasing the Death Mask, the second you cannot benefit from any armor at all.

If you're willing to accept a trade of 2% Power Damage for 5% Weapon Damage (or another Arm item) you can do just fine for N7 Armor imitating Inferno Armor.

I made this thread really to show how the Bonus armors are greater than what (I have seen so far anyways) most people are saying about them.  I'm personally happy that this thread isn't a troll heaven for how the armor looks rather than how the armor works.

The Blood Dragon Armor's +15% power bonus seals the deal for me.

Would it be possible to recover my friends gamertag who has collector armor, download it, and then log on to my gamertag (all on the same hard drive) and be able to use the collector armor?

If you mean the Dr. Pepper codes, you have to use them on the Dr Pepper Promo site.

By the way you can get all of the Dr Pepper helmets if you use the search bar and look up "free helmets" and follow the directions in that thread.

Yup. Sentinels do love the Blood Dragon Armor. I would think Adepts as well. I know mine does.

Blood Dragon is without a doubt the best for adepts.

I'd argue that depending on how you play Sentinel, Collector armor may actually be better as it would increase your shield destruction survivability (which you'd want to be doing if you're playing Assault Armor).

Yep, that's arguable. but I use N7 armor for my assault sentinel. Gotta haves the melee damage increase.
