What does Kaidan say if you bring Garrus while you're unfaithful to him?

It's not possible to start Garrus' romance before you go to Horizon. His loyalty mission only becomes available afterwards.

@ Kim Shepard: Ah ok, thanks for the info about the Wards. I guess they don't want you to get completely sidetracked before going to see the Council, lol.

And lol @ Flirty!Teagan. He's so awkward about it Posted Image

Hey, I never saw anything about the Love triangle, and in my first playthrough I tried to go all the way with both (had a hard time choosing, I started the saga with ME2 and had no reference about Garrus, but I couldn't choose anyone else but him in the end) but I got stuck in Thane saying "When no one else competes for your eyes...", and I couldn't answer anything, so it's almost the same that happens with Jacob now.

When does the "Love triangle" conversation happen exactly?

So yea, generally speaking, if you see the second squad mate doing an animation that Garrus isn't, all you need to do is switch Garrus to the second slot. I've tested this and it's almost always like this.

No amount of switching could make Miranda go into the right-hand slot during Thane's recruitment. I tried restarting the mission from the beginning (ie. going through the squad-selection screen and picking her first or second), saving and reloading: she was always in the left-hand slot. I then tested it with Jack, and she switched slots every time I reloaded. So there's gotta be some other factor at work there.

True - but so far as the more generic animations go, it's usually what slot they are in. Some of the dialog depends on who you have with you, though. Dying and reloading also changes the slots.

Tali always catches Shepard during the suicide mission if you have Garrus with you.  It doesn't matter what slot Garrus is in.  Likewise, if you try to put Garrus in the second slot so you can catch him, the computer almost always put hims in the other slot.  I generally have to reload aroud 4-5 times to get him into the right spot.  The computer seems to hate letting you catch Garrus.  I've tried it with various other squaddies.  This holds true with Grunt, Legion, and Tali.  Thane was the only guy I had luck with and even then only after multiple reloads.  Likewise, if you want Garrus in the right hand slot when you talk to Shiala do not have Tali or Thane with you.  It always put them in the right hand slot regardless of what order I picked them in.

Who do you usually take with you to the suicide mission finale?  I've found that if I take Thane with me than Garrus always catches me.

Get Thane or Jacob "locked in" (you have them locked in when they start repeating the same conversation over and over again) and flirt with Garrus. In the first conversation (reach/flexibility), he'll react like he always does. In the second conversation, he'll mention that he doesn't want to be part of a love triangle, and you can choose to break it off with your current LI to get things going with Garrus.

I still want to do this with Jacob once. Garrus' reaction to Shepard dumping a human to get together with him must be pretty sweet.

I usually take Garrus and Mordin and always have Shepard catching Mordin and Mordin catching Shepard, but when I decided to switch things around and take Jack instead of Mordin for once, Shepard caught Garrus and Garrus caught Shepard.

@Raga: Hmm. Interesting. For me it's always been whomever was in the second slot, Garrus included. Maybe it's random, or somewhat random. Either way, I didn't really notice any preferential treatment against Garrus. I've had Tali & Garrus with me most of time and so far as dialog goes, it's usually an even split. Animations are usually decided by who is in what slot. The suicide mission seems to be different.

Here is a squad mate dialog guide:

That may help to get more Garrus stuff.

But Ragabul is saying the game doesn't like Shepard catching Garrus, not the other way round.

I really must experiment with this.

Also, there don't seem to be any ME2 "jealousy" convos up on YouTube. I tried searching for Garrus making Shep choose, but there doesn't seem to be anything there.

Probably because once you go Garrus, you can't go back. Posted Image

Once you go Turian there's no returnin'.

I should probably stop making these annoying side comments and contribute to the conversation...

I don't like Jacob, but I can understand his reaction there. Well I can understand him being pissed at least. Still he should be pissed at Shepard for stringing him on and not Garrus. Though it can be argued that people's true thoughts often come through in times of anger and I don't see somebody whose really pro-alien actually joining Cerberus. Well, there's Kelly, poor, naive girl that she is. The thing that makes Jacob's reaction appalling is not that he's angry that you dumped him but that he feels slighted because you specifically pick a turian. What does he say if you pick Thane?

Yeah Kelly makes me sort of sad sometimes, she barely sees bad in anyone. That's how you end up with Scale itch.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I don't really get what Jacob means by his  "cuttlebone" (sp?) comment.

Oh and Kelly sounds like a fortune cookie.

You do always catch whoever is in the second slot but usually the computer puts Garrus in the first slot regardless of what order you pick him in.  You can tell who's going to be caught by what order the squaddies climb up onto the platform with you in right as you are about to make your speech.  Try reloading there a few times while picking the same characters in the same order.  The computer will randomly reassign them regardless of what choices you make and it seems to hate Garrus in the second slot.  He usually only goes in the right slot about 1 in 4 times.  As for characters catching Shepard there does seem to be a preferential list of who catches her.  Tali over Garrus.  Garrus over Thane and so on regardless of what slot they are in.  This has been my experience anyway.

I was surprised at how many random people the Warden can flirt with in DA. Teagan, Duncan, I saw a video for that templar in the mage origin too, and there are more. It would be great if this were possible in Mass Effect too... There are a lot of NPCs my Shepards would flirt with if it could happen. xD

Here's a video of Garrus on Horizon (the Shepard romanced Kaidan in ME1, but Garrus' dialogue is the same): www.youtube.com/watch I like Garrus' comments there. :) I'm having trouble finding a video of breaking up with Jacob for Garrus though. If you pick Thane over Jacob, I think he says something about women always falling for those drell eyes. I can't find any videos of that either.

Also, now I know why my FemShep didn't get caught by Garrus... it's always Tali who catches Shepard if she's there? At least I got Shepard to catch Garrus (and on my first try too). I'll try bringing Thane when I get around to her NG+, but that won't be for a while.

Welp, guess I'ma be bringing Garrus and Thane as my next SM team! Posted Image

As for Jacob's cuttlebone comment, I think he's just commenting on Garrus' physical appearance: how he's all rough and angular. It's a pretty low blow though, if the only thing he can think of dissing is his physical appearance. I wonder if he calls Thane "fishlips" or something.

@ Kim Shepard: ...You can flirt with Duncan? Posted Image That...feels wrong somehow.

I give up on the who catches who thing.

I usually take either Garrus/Thane or Garrus/Mordin on my final mission... and 9/10, Shep catches Garrus and the other one pulls Shep up.

I have yet to see Garrus pull Shep into the damn Normandy. :P I think he's too busy shootin' next to Joker... or maybe too shocked to see Joker with an assault rifle. Who knows?

As for the getting the "jealous" lines... Garrus says he doesn't want to be in a stupid love triangle (d'awwww), Jacob gets pissed (Cuttlebone for Garrus, I think he says something about Thane's eyes...) and Thane is pretty classy about the whole thing (admittedly, I can't love a dying man is a REALLY harsh prompt line. Gah.) Oh and his "jealous" line is something like, "I know others have eyes on you..." or something to that effect.

Wasn't Thane's jealous line "I can tell I'm not the foremost on your mind"? I really should try out a "Shepard romances everyone" playthrough, I guess.

I flirted with him for the lulz. You basically invite him to your bedroom, but he rejects you. It's quite funny to see his reaction.

I also like that you can flirt with so many folks in DAO but I hardly ever did it because I thought it was weird to do it with my party members standing right behind me. I tend to play very no-nonsense characters and I always feel weird being really informal during a mission. I always feel like it will make my team members second guess me. I don't mind good-natured banter, but to stop and flirt during a mission? I just don't have it in me. Now in something like Fable or Fallout or Oblivion I am a shameless flirt when I don't have someone looking over my shoulder. I am also shameless on the ship or in the party camp or in neutral ground like that.

Oh wow...Yeah, I couldn't do it. He's so firmly cemented as the father/mentor figure to my Warden that it would feel completely wrong to me.

I never have my characters randomly flirting around...because I don't like being told off. Not only do I not like confrontations in general, but it also makes my character feel like an amateur. If you're gonna two-time...do it right and don't get caught! From that perspective, flirting around with your party members (and potentially LI) standing right there behind you just strikes me as a completely stupid move.

DAO: My mage flirted with her party members, and Teagan. Didn't realize you could flirt with Duncan, she probably would have XD

Being turned down wouldn't have hurt much. After playing a satyr blooded Fianna for almost 8 years, that stuff doesn't phase me no more.

Garrus! Hrm... *it's hard to think... it's so freakin' HOT today T.T*

Does anyone know what ever happened to the talk of a romance DLC? Oo

And really... of all the squaddies you nab, Liara and Garrus are probably the only two I can think of getting their own DLC (as mission filler type stuff.)

You think the Leliana is the precursor to Liara's? (man, I hope we get to save Feron in ME3... that'd be awesome...)

Flirting with Duncan video right here: www.youtube.com/watch He doesn't flirt back like Teagan does. There's also a link there to a video that shows a female mage flirt with Cullen, that templar in the origin. It's very obvious that he likes her, but then he runs away. xD I'm playing a male mage this time, and he was kind of... sarcastically mean to that guy.

Actually, a lot of the flirting in DA seems to take place during the origins, so it usually doesn't interfere with the mission. I can see how it would seem that way with Mass Effect though. Still, if Shepard can do side missions after she stole the Normandy and Saren is waiting patiently at Ilos, she should be able to flirt with turian NPCs. Lorik would have been a perfect opportunity, since he asked Shepard to sit down and have a drink with him. :)

For the record, I wouldn't make characters who are already in a romance flirt with other people. That's cheating! xD I mean, my MainShep had no romance in ME1, so she could have flirted with Lorik.
