What would we do without your inner librarian? Clan V would be sad.

Hmmm...what can we add to lists?

I loved that series. So much character for it's time. But for me, I don't think I'd ever go back to it, not even for nostalgia - sometimes it is nicer to remember things fondly than see them again years later and think

I made that mistake with Robocop. Fondly remembered the arcade game that gobbled my money and then saw it years and years later. I had a :crying:

And Tron. Sometimes best not to look.

But Garrus  is timeless (had to bring it back on topic)

Oh I'd still play it every year or two. Still has the best character interactions of any Rpg to date I think. (BG2)

Wow, I missed... six pages? I got the Redemption comic, by the way. I didn't read the whole thing yet, but I think I saw a turian with pink tattoos (the kind that look like they painted the lower half of their face). Is pink not an exclusively feminine color for turians?

I've thought about posting in the Tali thread before, mostly when I was in the middle of my MaleShep playthrough because he brings Tali everywhere, and there's so much awesome that would be off-topic here. That playthrough got put on hold because Liara annoyed me though. xD I'm playing Dragon Age now. As for the discussion about a new Garrus thread... I don't really care either way. It doesn't matter to me if I'm posting in this thread or a new one. (And I keep forgetting to post in the group! D: Obviously, it's the first group I joined.)

That information about turian suicide is interesting. For some reason, I didn't connect it with Saren until you guys mentioned it. Definitely something to think about.

I've heard of Baldurs Gate. Is it a BioWare game too?

Perhaps not. I did see some Salarians (assumably male) wearing pink or purple in ME1, I think.

Yea. This information can put another spin or deepness to end game Saren. I'm still thinking about it.

Yep.

That's very true. I've tried to revisit some of the objects of my nostalgia and sometimes they don't exactly hold up to what I was once thought. At the same time, I bet my nostalgia sometimes makes things appear better to me than they would otherwise...

Really? I've done it both with my renegade and paragon femSheps. It actually made me feel sorry for Saren. I haven't read the Mass Effect books so I don't know how he was written in those, but there was just something so sad about Saren.

"Some part of you must still realize this is wrong." And then he thanks you. Epic.

I have to try this route sometime. Or watch it on youtube. It sounds very interesting.

Baldurs Gate is the grand daddy of Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age - it truly is a classic. And if you like playing old school RPGs then I would suggest giving it a go.

I haven't read the books but general consensus is he was a complete scumbag in them...not redeemable at all.

I'm replaying Dragon Age right now. It's amazing how much different party members can make the experience feel new again. I love Alistair, but I've always been having him in my party so I decided change some of the party members. Strange though - in Mass Effect I'm quite content to just use my favorites all of the time - Garrus among them of course. Then again, I feel more attached to Mass Effect squad more than the Dragon Age team. Dragon Age did really well with the banter though, I really like it.

For the record, I absolutely ADORE both Baldur's Gate and Robocop (the only movie I've ever seen twice in the same day, in the theater, it was that awesome!!). But Xanadu didn't hold up well, I gotta say that. :P

I want DA squad banter for ME3...is it okay to say that?
I am the same with my ME characters, I had my favs and found it really hard to swap out for others. Garrus was always with me (other than Thane RT). WIll do more swapping eventually. I feel I need to spend time with the rest of them. I've never spent any time with Tali  =( and yet she seems a nice girl. In DA I always had Al with me because I found him adorable, but I'm a bit of a softie like that.

I never noticed those salarians. xD I guess I was too busy looking at the turians. I found concept art for that salarian in Redemption in the back of the comic though. He looks bigger/stronger than most salarians. And a pink batarian... and a chubby batarian.

I just looked up Baldurs Gate. I don't usually play PC games, but if I decide to look for it, at least I don't think I'd have a problem with the system requirements. They confuse me. But I did see "Windows 95."

If you want to watch Saren's suicide on youtube, there are several videos for both Paragon and Renegade. (Before I found out I had to replay my MaleShep game, I was looking up the dialogue to make sure I chose the right ones on my first try.) Anyway, I liked Saren in Revelation. :) I guess a lot of people didn't expect Saren to be so... ruthless? I don't know, I thought that was clear in the game. Some of the stuff he did in Revelation reminded me of Renegade Shepard.

I agree about the Dragon Age characters, Collider. I like the Mass Effect characters more. The team I used in my first two playthroughs were mostly Garrus and Wrex, but I switched it up more this last time. This DA playthrough is going to end with a lot of squadmates who are either dead or gone though. My blood mage is not a people person.

Of course. I definitely want banter in ME3 - Dragon Age did it well and it would be great to see the same in Mass Effect. Not sure if I like Dragon Age or KOTOR style banter better - in Dragon Age you can't interject. Then again, having companions speak among themselves only also contributes to the sense that these people aren't robots and the world doesn't revolve around the player character. Maybe a mix is best.

I usually use Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Zaeed, Grunt, or Jacob. Garrus and Tali are really great against all of the mechs in the game.

Thane's trailers always made me wonder why he doesn't use pistols in-game, and instead a submachine gun. I think Kasumi may have stolen his cloaking ability, too.

In DA I always had Al with me because I found him adorable, but I'm a bit of a softie like that.

Haha, yea. I took him every where so I wanted to see what the other party members had to offer. I miss the humor though.

A lot of party can be so serious or negative sometimes.
Sten: :l
Shale: :l
Morrigan: :l
Secret Companion: :l
Oghren: :l (at least at the beginning)

Some of them--especially the ones you listed--take a few iterations of party banter, and then they warm up and become funny.  Sten and Morrigan have some hilarious dialogue, and Zevran and Sekrit Companion made me lol.  I want to hug Shale.

So yes, bringing this back to Mass Effect...I would love to see this kind of party banter in ME3.  Would.  LOVE.  IT.

I bought a copy of BG2 off of Amazon a couple of months back, dreaming of the good old days. But for some reason my saves wouldn't take- I'd get some kind of error about a bad file- and I ended up giving up and uninstalling.

I was watching Q&A (English show with Stephen Fry) and they were talking about gender issues - they said, and this was new knowledge for me, that pink, has only recently be associated with feminine colours.  Initially it was seen as a very strong masculine colour and only men wore it.  Blue was associated with females (something to do with the Virgin Mary).  The current abomination of pink when you walk into the girls section of a department store is definitely recent.  Colour trends change with the times, so socially pink on male Turians could really just mean a very strong masculine Turian colour!!

I still think blue is more Garrus colour. It goes well with his skin.
