Chimy: AHAHAHHAHAHAHA that's adorable XD

As for Tali/Garrus... I tease my brother like that... I used to follow it up with stepping on him... a lot. To get him to shut the hell up.

Being a big sister has it's bonuses. XD

Back to the cataloging. Wish me luck! /trudges on...

Not really "they," persay. Just a couple people.

Anyway, Jack and Garrus would not work. For one thing, Jack is pretty much almost an embodiment of what Garrus does not like. She's ran with gangs, cults, been a pirate - she's basically a criminal. And for personal gain. And unless you romance her, she appears not to care about anyone but herself. If Jack had been on Omega when Garrus was leading his team, Jack could have been one of his opponents. Jack even says that she wants to take the Normandy for a joy ride or turn the Normandy into a pirate ship - even if she's joking, I don't really think that Garrus would find that funny. Smugglers are the kind of people he fought on Omega.

Contrast that with Shepard. I think that Garrus respects Shepard (+attracted if female) because Shepard is willing to bend a few rules, but with a good purpose. Shepard knows the big picture and most likely is not just acting for self benefit. Shepard is willing to take the fight to the "bad guys," rather than being the "bad guy" herself. And Shepard is a leader - in ME1 you could clearly see that Garrus admired her. Shepard kicks ass - and the right ass. Garrus likes Shepard's abilities - and the fact that she is using them for a good purpose.

In Jack's romance, Shepard pretty much has to poke and prod her. That is not something that Garrus would do. He's not so extroverted and predatory as to do that.

Morning Garrus thread (or afternoon or evening for wherever in the world you are!!)

@ Stephi - Tormenting runs in our family but I was mostly the steppee not the stepper.  I remember someone telling me to go home and call my brother a ****got (at this stage he was a teenager and probably sensitive about his masculinity) I said whats a ****got?  I had no idea what it meant - they said its a bunch of sticks and if he asks tell him that - so I did and he got really mad at me so I'd knew I'd hit a nerve - he held me by my legs till I went blue in the face - but I refused to cry or give in so he dropped me on my head, (explains a lot) He got in a lot of trouble, but then so did I because one of our uncles is gay - so it all turned out even in the end.

Tali/Garrus definitely brother sister thing going on there.....

Very astute, Collider. Thanks for those thought-provoking words. :)

And Buggirl, you just reminded me of something else that would be wrong with Jack/Garrus pairing...turians are fascinated with hair!  Jack hasn't got any = no fun. :P

Are you allowed on this thread if you have a male Shepard but view Garrus as your number one buddy? Because I looooove Garrus, just......not that way.

Don't let the thread title throw you, we're sort of generally pro-turian around here. Just...one in particular. The upcoming Mark III Garrus thread will be more obvious about it.

Just another note there. Jack threatened team cohesion when she tried to attack Miranda over basically nothing. While I think that Garrus would sympathize with the elements of Jack's past that she did not have control over, I don't think he would appreciate Jack starting a fight just over a matter of pride. When Shepard is assigning people in the suicide mission, Garrus shakes his head when Jack makes the cheerleader comment. He most likely thought it is simply was not the time to start feuds, when they were about to enter the Collector Base.

Anyways, I think the incompatibility there between Jack and Garrus is self explanatory and axiomatic. To be honest, I don't think anyone that we know of in Mass Effect yet would really be good for Garrus. No one really fits the bill. Aside from F!Shepard, of course!

Thanks, I think I would pretty lost without my favourite Turian. Him and Tali truely are the greatest characters. And I always romance Garrus as fem Shep, though it gets a little awkward for me as a male to hear some of the dialogue......    Image IPB

Here here.

And I've never noticed Garrus doing that in in the SM - I'll have to pay more attention next time.

As female characters go - apart from awesome femShep I don't have much affection for Jack but I am totally fascinated by the character development they have created, she is far more intersting than Miranda although I hope they have more development for her too rather than just the Ice queen melting path - part of my attraction to Jack is that her personality is so far removed from mine or for anyone else I know I can't help but be curious.

But as revenge kitty knows that might lead somewhere unpleasant.

Agreed, a relationship between Garrus and Jack would never work. But does anyone else think it's interesting that Garrus will respect Shepard no matter what, even though one of Shepard's backgrounds (Earthborn) could make him/her a criminal and former(?) gang member? Ten years before ME1 happens, Earthborn Shepard could have been killing cops just like Garrus... except they would be human.

I know one of my Earthborn Shepards would be surprised that he ends up friends with Garrus - not because he's a turian, but because he's an ex-cop. xD

I think what's important to Garrus most of all is how Shepard is now in the present. That's one of the reasons he's able to spare Sidonis. I wouldn't doubt that some of Garrus' squad may have had shady histories, too. Which in part makes the idea of Garrus Omega DLC that much more interesting. Anyway.

Earthborn Shepard did have the criminal past, but that's the past.
Jack on the other hand does not really exhibit any desire to discontinue her former (criminal) life after the suicide mission is over.

Shepard joined the Alliance becuase s/he wanted to - and stopped Sovereign because Shepard had the bigger picture in mind. Just my two cents.

Wow.  Wow.  Did not think of that before.  I think I always had a romanticized version of Earthborn Shep.  Something like Oliver Twist.  But, heck, now that I think about it, Mouse might be closer to the truth.  "The Renegade who had it made..."

I made a Earthborn Shep that was totally paragon: she had a rough past but the military taught her discipline.  I would think Garrus might respect that.

Wonder what Garrus would think of the Spacer background as well.  Shepard's mother seems to be still on active duty, and maybe Shepard watched her parents on the vids as well.

I never really get the impression from the Earthborn write-up that 10th St Red Shepard is a dangerous cop-killer so much as "youth at risk". You're running with a bad crowd because you've got nobody else, but if you were loyal enough to the gang to shoot a cop at 17 why would you leave (save maybe 'flight from prosecution')? That kid whose life you can save on Omega, maybe, but not a hardened killer.

It depends on the Shepard if their criminal history is really in the past. On the Earthborn personal quest, it's still an option for Shepard to help out his/her old gang. My current MaleShep even said, "What can I do for the Reds?" He killed that guy from the Reds after he found out they turned into a racist group, but some Shepards might not.

It's also up to debate what kind of criminal Earthborn Shepard was, but I still say it depends on the Shepard. The player can make up anything, as long as it's within reason. I have a few Earthborns planned out - some are dangerous killers, and some are people who came from a hard background and became heros. Technically, the dangerous killers are also heros by now.

Me too Ape, I always got the "youth at risk" impression (comes from having social workers in the family!) Bad associations and bad decisions - yes - possible cop killer - no.

Troubled youth could be anything... it's one of the reasons why I love the Earth born back ground. Lots of interesting permutations....

And guh... I love you guys, but the walls of text from almost a thousand pages back are killing me...
