I'm not quite sure, but I'm pretty sure, that I've seen a turian, once, without leg spurs.  But I'm not sure if it was a glitch, my pc being buggy or me being tired.  But this next play through (I've lost count) I'm going to be a total turian perv and keep my eyes peeled.  Because that would seem to have very interesting connotations.  XD

It's probably related to the same glitch that causes turian Blue Suns on Korlus to bleed red like humans and orange like krogan. (Bugged me some, I got to say.)

It would be awesome if that reporter made a comment like that. Maybe it could even work with the humans too (Jack is a prisoner, Jacob and Miranda work for Cerberus, and Shepard was Kaidan/Ashley's commanding officer... there's probably something advising against that). I can just imagine their responses. xD

Shepard #1 (with Tali): I don't usually punch women unless they're trying to kill me, but NO ONE insults my girlfriend and gets away with it! D:
Shepard #2 (with Garrus): *interrupt punch* I know what my uncle is thinking right now. >_>; "All those years teaching her political correctness and diplomatic responses were for nothing!"
Shepard #5 (with Thane) & #6 (with Liara): *trying to hold back anger* Must... not... punch... on... camera.
Shepard #8 (with Jack): *headshot interrupt*
Shepard #10 (with Kaidan, then Jacob): You know what? I can't justify my romance choices either. >_>; Is the pilot an option?
Shepard #11 (with Ashley, then Miranda): How does the whole world know I cheated?!
Shepard #13: Hey! D:
Shepard #14 (the list... it's too long): **** off. I saved the galaxy, didn't I?

There is so much win in that. :D
And #10 was just made me die laughing.

Sadly, turian rump? Not so much.

Speaking of turian rear ends, let's have a moment of silence for Executor Pallin. RIP buddy, you were too cool for the 'verse.

This question has been bugging me for sometime, maybe its been discussed before, idk. I noticed that Turians have small gaps at the sides of their mouths, does that mean their mouths are always dry? Unless the glands in their mouths always secrete saliva, but then I get this image in my head.

care to elaborate? XD

Hrm, I didn't see that one... yet.  But I know it's weird seeing the rainbow of blood colors in ME.

Salarians and Batarians apparently have green blood, humans and quarians red, turians blue.  Not sure about the other races, there's some colors in there I bet.  Oh!  Drell are red too, Koylat practically sprays you with his when you deck him in the face with your elbow.

Yea, poor Pallin.  He was a funny butterfly... er... I mean guy.

And I know turians don't really have a butt... but still.  It's there.  Must stare. :o

Would they need to salivate?  I mean, if some sciency type person can enlighten, saliva is our way of predigesting, which allows us to get more from our food (as well as the whole cooking it) so I would guess?  Gah, I dunno.  But that picture freaks me out just a bit.

Lilihierax (I guess those are the colony markings of turian Jersey), Septimus (hopeless romantic, and space Winston Churchill), and Etarn Tirion (Shepard Tirion would be the greatest turian ever) are my favorite NPC turians (though I admit a fondness for Lorik Qu'in, once I realized he was Sovereign things got weird). I always go through all their dialogs, even after beating the game several times.

If anyone's interested, I put together a graph of the LI poll results so far (link in sig). Garrus is kicking ass pretty soundly.

This made me laugh a little too much

Gosh, I might be incapable of ranking my favorite turians after Garrus. "Lee" was funny, Lorik was sexy (aren't they all) and cute with his mismatched human phrases, Septimus the first turian to expose a romantic side, Nihlus was the first turian I ever saw and I immediately thought "cool!", Saren was an awesome villain, Etarn won me over with his firstborn line (imagining little Shepard Tiron running around makes me grin), Pallin was attractive in that "got-his-****-together" kind of way, even the turian Councillor I love to hate (and secretly crave the approval of). And of course Squidface. Because, squidface.

@schnelle....wait, so the dialogue about Pallin being dead, that's something that never actually made it into the game? Or it's there, you just have to have the right...people with you? I've always had Garrus with me and it's never triggered it. If they took it out the game, maybe htat means they changed their mind about Pallin being dead?

About the naked turian spurs on "Jerut", I tried looking at them in game too.  I'm still not sure if they are exposed or not.  It looks like they might just be covered with smooth leather (look at the leather over his shins, it matches).  Hard to say.

I was thinking about that earlier; they also have very sharp teeth, but only a few. And their tongue is fairly round. And Lilihierax mentions having a gizzard. My conclusion here is that turians have very dry mouths (...origin of 'chafing'?) and do very little chewing; their teeth are more of the rip and tear variety. Any masticating is done in the gizzard, like birds. *pictures Garrus swallowing rocks*

That assumes their salivary glands work like human salivary glands. Technically many birds and even mammals never close their mouths entirely, but don't have issues. If the mouth doesn't close completely, there's a way of keeping that soft tissue irrigated without it being gross - to paraphrase the Presidium groundskeeper, the universe loves variety.

Okay so. My Photoshop is old (dates back to version 3) and I'm looking for a program that isn't GIMP (which is good, but since it's meant for Linux some stuff just doesn't work the way I want it to, especially when I save images). I prefer something low cost or free, not cracked or pirated as I don't mind paying people for their work. Lots of good artists here - what all are you using? Are you liking the results?

Yeah, poor Shepard #10. xD After she felt like Kaidan betrayed her on Horizon, she decided to go with Jacob because of that conversation where he said he was angry about the way the Alliance was treating Shepard's memory, but he was kind of her "rebound guy". When I thought about it for a while, I realized her personality would probably work well with Joker. Too bad she can't have Garrus... it would feel like he was cheating on Shepard #2, and they would be best friends if they were in the same game.

Here's an interesting switch. I kept forgetting to put this up in the thread.

And if Garrus is there maybe he can get mad too.

I'd love for Bioware to have the reporter insult your choosen paramour in the next game, and for our Shepards to react in kind. I know my Garrus Shepard would be especially eager to teach her a lesson in humility if she ever had the gall to do that. A punch in the face would be the least of that reporter's problems when she got her hands on her.

There is audio in the game that Pallen is dead.  I was listening to all the data-mined audio in the C-Sec hallway when you first visit the Citadel cause I like finding hidden dialogue.  There are files where the C-Sec officer says that Pallen is dead I just haven't found the correct situation that triggers it yet.

The conversation goes something like this...

[C-Sec Officer]  We got word from the C-Sec Executor's office that you should be allowed to keep your weapons.

[Shepard]  Thats surprising, Executor Pallen didn't seem to like me the last time I was here.

[C-Sec Officer]  Pallen?  He was killed by Geth in the Battle of the Citadel.  C-Sec's current commander is Dsean Chellik.  He said you tend to find trouble and you need to be armed.

[Garrus]   Chellik as Executor?  Safe, but not the choice I'd of made.

After typing this I realized this is probably the conversation if Udina is the Councilor.  All my runthroughs have Anderson as Councilor.

Well that solves that little mystery. If you play the battle of the Citadel during the first game with subtitles on, a character known as 'Executor' is heard giving the Citadel fleet orders to keep the Geth ships away before being run over by Sovereign. I just always assumed that there was more than one Executor after seeing that since they never mentioned Pallin specifically, and the voice didn't quite sound the same.. Still makes me sad to know the old grump is dead.
:crying:

yeah but didn't we also establish that their (Pallin and the turian on the spaceship) facial markings were extremely different?

Also, I really hate that part where sovereign plows through their fleet.  I feel bad the turians lost so many right in the beginning, while the alliance gets all the glory.  I don't know why, but for some reason the turians "peacekeeper" role makes me like them a lot.  It's like, even though 90% of them are kind of jackasses or snobs (to humans), knowing you can count on them to be there when trouble starts (and that they are competent experienced military that will always take the reasonable course) really makes up for it.

I wouldn't know. My copy of ME1 refuses to fully load the facial textures for that part of the cinematic scene... o_x
It saddened me as well to know that most of the Turian fleet was destroyed in one fell swoop. They were trying their hardest to protect the Citadel, and had they not been caught so off guard I'm sure they would have faired a lot better.
Though part of me wonders what possessed the ones who got run over not to at least take evasive actions beforehand... o_o

Udina being the Councilor doesn't seem to trigger it (because that was the choice I went for on my carry over playthrough). If it's "hidden dialogue", though, hmm...I'm still kind of skeptical (and in DENIAL - it ain't just a river in Egypt after all). And I always thought one of the reasons we never got an e-mail message from Pallin was because he never had any sidequests for Shepard to run around and do, whereas most of the messages Shepard gets are from NPCs with sidequests attached to them (and the occasional main plot related NPCs like Lizbeth and Lorik--assuming you didn't do what Gianna wanted with his evidence).

I still kind of see retirement being a likely scenario (as an alternative to Pallin being dead). The guy worked for C-Sec for 30+ years. After something as big as the attack on the Citadel--I can imagine he'd be all: Okay, I'm getting way too old for this, but I need to turn this position over to someone I trust...another turian...hmmm. Chellick, you're up for the job.

Oh well. Image IPB

Perhaps that dialog is if you let the Council die? If the Fleet takes longer to come in, the Citadel gets more damaged, right?

Can you continue to converse with Harron, aside from the first time you enter and he tells you you're dead?

I'd like to see this scene in ME3. xD My Shepard (the one with the Garrus romance) let him shoot Harkin, so she didn't get to hear that line.

Also, blood colors for silentstephi:

humans/quarians: red

krogans: orange

salarians/batarians: greenish-brown

turians: blue

asari: violet

geth: whitish/purple fluid

Drell are red? Man, I was hoping they were yellow. Mass Effect rainbow!

More uncovered spur action in Eternity on Illium! The turian in white getup standing near the bar, sort of just 'behind' the turian/quarian couple. :P It got mentioned here and I couldn't stop looking for them!

Ooh, the reporter getting hers. Again. She's just not very smart, is she? Or is it just a Brick Joke now (see TvTropes.org)? Anyway, I'm finally getting to the romancing of Thane just to dump him for Garrus. I was gonna go for Jacob but DEAR GOD what does that man have against me?! I'm going fairly Renegade, but I am -always- nice to my crew! And Jacob still hates me again! I can never say the right thing! Either I'm a jerk or I'm too forward for him. Blegh.
