Shepard #2: ...How about Sith Lords? :D

Shepard #13: No way, the Star Wars counterpart of TIM is mine!

Garrus might be shocked to know that, for the Shepard who romanced him... Saren was her second choice. xD

Hey, I didn't write that, Obsidian did.

And my Revan was a Light Side.  She takes off for the Outer Rim or something to prepare for a greater enemy than the Sith.  The Exile follows her.  Hubby claimes the two companies were trying to set up for the Yusaang Vhong.

The Yuuzhan Vong aka The Children of Yun-Yuuzhan were over three thousand years away from the galaxy far far away in which SW takes place at that point - more likely the threat was the resurgence of the Sith Empire, which as we know from info on the upcoming SW:TOR MMO (thank you, BioWare, you always know how to show a girl a good time) was plotting and preparing in secret to return and ROFLSTOMP! the Republic.  Both KotOR games hint heavily at this outcome and there's more hidden data if you care to check out info from Team Gizka. By the Yuuzhan Vong's own reckoning, they hadn't even reached Wild Space at the time of the events in the KotOR games, IIRC. (I'm rusty, it's been about a decade since I was more than peripherally involved in SW fandom.)

The fidelity issue - not cheating, but fidelity - of ME2/ME3 is odd to me because it's been TWO YEARS and Shep was DEAD. The closest thing to holding on to that budding relationship was Liara, bless her little heart, and even she thought that giving Shep to Cerberus was signing the death warrant for real on her relationship. When you meet up with her in ME2 there's a very sweet embrace and kiss, but then her expression turns surprisingly wistful and she shakes her head 'no', as if to acknowledge that it would have been nice, but it's in the past.

My Paragon FemShep romanced Liara (once I got past thinking of her as great babysitter material) because Ash was my sistah and Kaidan irked me for no readily apparent reason. Liara's love is love, not contingent upon sex. She saved you from death itself -- and moved on, and is apparently cool with you moving on.

So yay Liara. In MY playthrough, she totally supported my FemShep getting together with Garrus. I guess everyone loves Garrus, even my FemShep's ex.

(PS, I'm looking for a mod that'll let me move my camera to my greater satisfaction, or some really good shots of the Dark Star Lounge bartender and the You Humans Are All Racist! guy.)

Nothing. We talk about how this or that for OUR Shep. In my happy little world, Liara was a sweetie. Cuz she really is.

I think he thought that because of Canderous' story. I tend to agree with the Sith Empire thing.

Back to ME2: I refuse to call it fidelity, but rather celibacy. It's only been a month, after all, for Shep. S/he can conceivably just not have moved on yet from Ashley/Kaidan/Liara.  But frankly, for all indications, that relationship is done.

Liara is all of my Sheps' best friend. They all felt her lack. Poor Garrus, he got the brunt of picking up the slack for both in at least one case.

It's not cheating because Shepard was a virgin again!

My main Shepard actually likes Liara more in ME2. xD I think they're more like friends now than they ever were in ME1, but my Shepard said she did the right thing by letting Cerberus ressurect her.

Shepard #6 is the one who romanced Liara, and he likes her personality better in ME2 as well. She wasn't perfect for him in the first game, but still a pretty good match, and now she's more like him. :)

My Shep likes her more in ME2 as well, but I let her chew Liara out bigtime for the Cereberus handover: not because I judged her too hard, but because it was the only instance of Shepard getting emotional about her death that I could find in-game.  Couldn't pass that up.  Sorry, Liara.

Also: Garrus.  Garrus Garrus Garrus.

*Blink*

1) buh... wut?
2) having sex does =/= cheating - the style of emotional attachment, however, can = cheating
3) how the heck do you get the idea Shep was a virgin because of physical reconstruction? I suffered a pretty bad injury a few years ago, neck, right side. Had to have stuff rebuilt and even glued into place. (They can do that! I swear I'm just a couple DDR3s away from signing up with Skynet!) The experience, however, did not alter the fact of my prior sexual activity. Some people, self included, would say it doesn't matter if the body was grown in a petrie dish from a single surviving skin cell, if the mind of the previously-experienced Shep was put into the body, his or her prior experiences still apply. It's part of what makes Shep who s/he is, and preservation of that was priority one in the Lazarus Project, remember? But the body wasn't grown from scratch, many NPCs make this clear. The body itself still experienced everything it had previously experienced, from the sexy to the harsh harsh method of suffocating and freezing to death in vacuum.

Well golly it was a joke.  Though I do like to figure these things out beforehand so I'll know what my own relationship commitments will be after I'm a reanimated cyborg.

I've got the first 'chapter' of my Garrus related fanfic written up. Any one want to proof read it for grammar/constructive criticism etc?

Reanimated zombie cyborgs yay!

Something to keep in mind is that without clear indicators of tone, text does not always convey intent well. It came across as a straight-up comment. I responded to it as such.

Also: Garrus. Garrus, Garrus, Garrus.

Poor Liara. xD I'll have to wait until a future playthrough with one of my Cerberus-hating Shepards to finally see them get emotional about dying. Too bad the most emotionally unstable one (Shepard #4 - Colonist Sole Survivor) would have calmed down a little and be in full support of the resurrection by the time he sees Liara again.

Garrus... should let Shepard talk about his/her problems for a change. :) The whole crew should. I think a few of my Shepards would probably be getting annoyed by now at the way they have to help solve everyone elses problems, but they get no support for their own personal stuff. Although, some of them would prefer their pasts stay buried. There could still be a few different reactions, like Shepard's choice of response to the Kaidan/Ashley death.

One of mine is a Sole Survivor so I indulged in telling Jack off in one of my fics. I also made it a nod to Aliens since I'm pretty sure that's what ME was doing in the first place with that origin.

Sure sure.  I'm used to speaking on more ridiculous boards so I am rarely understood to be taken seriously.

I wonder if people thought my suggestion of a human/hanar intercourse scene in Mass Effect 3 was sincere...

Telling Jack off? ...I'm confused, did I miss a piece of dialogue somewhere? xD My Sole Survivors definitely wanted to ask the Illusive Man about Akuze - only one of them sides with him in the end, and I wonder how their opinions would have changed if he said something about it.

I just remembered that one of Shepards lines to Kaidan (I think it was Kaidan?) in response to how she deals with losing teammates was "I grieved. Later." Was that after Virmire? I think that option was perfect for most of my Shepards. :)

I wish it was a dialogue.  No, it's a fic I wrote.  Meghan Shepard is a very angry woman.

Space Elvis, keep that pelvis away from me~

I lol'd. Thane got Carth kid syndrome, but Kaidan has Carth's whining voice and bad haircut! And can't use sniper rifle. Kaidan loses...

Garrus has no kid, whiny voice and bad haircut and is badass with snipers. Garrus wins xD

I really don't see the point of bashing one character to support another.

I'm sorry, I'm just being a catty b****.  And Kaiden needs to be playable for ME3.

Thank you.  Because dammit, Meghan Shepard made them break the bro code, she should reap what she sows. ;)

This. I actually had a no-romance playthrough ready to go (it took three runs to hit level 60, so I went Liara > Kaidan > so ronery), so I won't be seeing any confrontation until I bother to import my Kaidanmance (I just can't cheat on Liara), which I probably won't bother with until I'm done with Final Fantasy 13 >_>

But yeah, I can't see Garrus rubbing it in Kaidan's face or anything; they seemed to get along well enough in the first game. I just with ME2 had some dialog indicating reluctance from Tali/Garrus if you had an ME1 romance. Maybe in the third game you'll be able to Charm (I'd moved on, he wasn't there for me, etc) or Intimidate (F*CK THAT GUY) them to avoid losing both.

About Carth...it's kind of funny, I've noticed a sizable backlash against him lately. I used to frequent the KotorFanMedia forums back in the day, and people were pretty amiable towards him back then. Some minor trust complaints, but nothing compared to the 'what a Carth' levels of vitriol there is these days. And people fall all over Thane, who has Carth's backstory lifted wholesale with an added slice of tragedy--hell, he cries when you have sex! I like Carth and his romance well enough...but I'd have dropped him for proto-Wrex Canderous in a hot second.

TBH, though, the Virmire survivor's interactions are all pretty bad, and become even worse if you romanced them. 'Welp, even though you saved me from a goddamn nuke and became the love of my life as we helped each other through moments of need, I'm not gonna give you any chance to explain yourself and will in fact blatantly ignore any logic you try to throw at me. The Council can decide whether you can be trusted! HURR DURR (and by the way even though I was totally dating someone, I guess I could get together with you again, even though I clearly have no respect for you, c.f. that entire conversation we just had. There's no question you still want me.'). WHY COULDN'T YOU BOTH GUARD THE NUKE?

And I got the "out w/ Officer Vakarian" ad. =^_^= It's the one hocking some cosmetic enhancements or whatever. It made me squee a little. But also laugh, b/c I don't think that, considering the circumstances, getting dolled up would have any effect on how attractive he finds you. If he noticed at all....../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png

Heh, it's actually an ad for biotic amps.  Commercials are just as mystifying in the future, evidently.
Soldier Shep: They...really don't target these things well, do they?

Kim Shepard wrote...

For some reason, I got the "out on the town with Krios" ad instead, and I've already finished Garrus' romance dialogue aside from the final scene. o_o; Was it because I had just completed his loyalty mission at the time?

The ad references the male romance you have in the party (so there's an 'out on the town with Mr. Taylor' variation, too) whether or not you're currently romancing them. If you have two, I don't know if one has higher priority or if it just picks randomly.

more on topic, that Garrus is a pretty good guy. He takes missiles to the face and doesn't afraid of anything.

I have some angry Shepards too, and of course they have good reason to be. xD Shepard #2 actually started to follow in #4's footsteps for a while at the beginning, drinking and using more Renegade interrupts than usual. Seeing Garrus and turians in general helped a lot though, and seeing Wrex helped more. Garrus probably thought she finally got the rest of that extra anger out of her system until she shoved a merc out the window.

@enormousmoonboots: I had Garrus and Thane in my party at the time. Garrus is always in the party, at least for my main Shepard. :)

Late to the thread, but just finished playthrough 1 and HOW CUTE IS GARRUS AS A LOVE INTREST?! Best. Romance. Ever. (though my housemates now think I have an alien fetish, cos I replayed the flirting convos so many times. They were too cute and funny!)

I wanted them to get together in ME1, but there was not option. That was OK though, 'cos Kaiden was also cute. I'm really hoping for the continuation of both romances in ME3, at least to a showdown.

"Kaiden: You left me for Garrus?! WTF?" :D lol

Apologies for what I'm sure is at worst a repitition, and at best my preaching to the choir. It's just hard not to gush when talkin' 'bout Garrus love! XD

I too am looking forward to the epic throw down between Garrus and Kaiden.  I didn't romance Kaiden the first time 'round... but then I went back and did, and while I have a slightly better opinion of Kaiden now than I did... I still only "romanced" him (read - Shepard wanted to get laid) to get the throw down in ME3 between him and Garrus.
My Turian boytoy better fight hard too - Kaiden's a sneaky little f'r...

/goes back to fighting this cold, drugs make her say funny things

Garrus vs Kaidan..

Aw, that would be fun to watch.

(Even though we know the winner)

I hope that if there is a confrontation, it'll be a little more interesting then the ME1 ones, and A LOT more interesting then the ME2 ones..
