I think 100% of the people in this thread would gladly take the hit for Garrus. I'd sooner sacrifice earth and every alliance ship than see him die.

I don't romance Garrus, but he is the only squadmate I've had (including the ones I have romanced) where my decision on a mission would be affected if it came to saving him or saving someone else. I don't think Garrus would ever forgive me if I chose him over saving myself, though. I mean, I'd do it, but he'd hold that decision against me for the rest of his life.

Originally I had thought that in ME2 it was going to be a 'choose between either your squad or your crew' situation, and without even a thought I was all "Well, nice knowing you, Joker/Doc Chakwas!".  Thankfully that wasn't the case, but it still stands that if I had to choose between (insert name here) and my LI then, well, so long (insert name here) - even if it turns out to be me or Garrus.

In DA:O I had gone into the final Archdemon fight with the intention of taking the final blow - only to find out that Alistair takes the hit himself, regardless of your wishes, if you romanced him.  :crying:  There were many tears, and I refuse to shed any for Garrus!

Maybe if I talk him into having sex with Samara then everything will work out by the end of the game.

HAHA I was thinking the exact same thing!

...I seriously hope it doesn't come to that though. At least ME, being a sci-fi game, is free from crazy medieval dark voodoo magic.

Curse you, stingy devs! Why can't we have more Garrus info? Is it somehow plot-sensitive or do you just not care about the fangirl faction?! Or...perhaps they are afraid of us... O_o

Though, if you need a turian fix the Mass Effect Wiki is a -great- place.

Garrus' identity as Archangel is supposed to be a secret, so I figure that's why they're waiting to update his info page on the main website. ...I don't know how long they plan to wait, though, since the game has been out for quite awhile already. Maybe the 26th of this month?

There's no real reason for them to ever update it.  It's always a promotional site, so it's always there to attract people who haven't played it yet.  Feh

How would have listing 'Archangel's' age have given away his identity, I ask you? It's not like they even told us how old Garrus was in ME1. O_o Silly devs.

I do realize it's a kind of moot point. I think it's more about wanting more Garrus, and any little snippet is great. :)

Brass_Buckles- I apologize for the TMI. I know I get a little over-excited at times, and don't worry, I fully realize these are fictionalized characters, it's just a game. For what it's worth, I don't think it's that ME has cause some of the people here to develop a weird turian fetish. I have confidence that Garrus' character would be just as popular were he a more humanoid looking alien, maybe even if he was human. It's his voice + his personality + his badassery. The appearance is just something that, while I don't find -un-attractive, comes along for the ride. I'll try to simmer down now.

We good? <:)

Re: Garrus' age
It's been a topic of discussion multiple times on this thread and the older one and I noticed that most people like to think Garrus is either older or younger than Shepard.

I'm going to have to say that I think he's the same age as Shep (but in Turian years...assuming Turian years are at all different from Human years). I have no reasoning to back that up, however, since levels of maturity isn't necessarily relative to age. And I do think Shepard and Garrus share the same level of maturity...

Also, I don't think that their mentor-student relationship (as some people view it) should be indicative of an age gap between them.

Shepard is...what...29? So I'd guess Garrus to be between 29 and 32.

This also just made me think about the Lazarus Project...do you think that being resurrected by Cerberus will have any effects on Shepard's body as s/he grows older? And for the Garrus romancers, how would Garrus react to something like Shepard never really looking much older than the day they met?

Someone should draw Shepard making fried or scrambled eggs with a mortified looking Garrus in the background.

Funny! But we did go over the notion that with those teeth, they're probably omnivores, and plenty of avians and reptiles are not adverse to eating the flesh of other species of avians and reptiles.

Still. "Honey? Could you, just once, have oatmeal? Please?"

There's a wonderful Mordin thread that links to a dev quote here on the forums - it's their 'equivalent' ages. Mordin is actually only 30ish, Grunt only a few months. Zaeed, I got nothing on. But it is made very clear that Mordin wasn't hatched 50 years ago, he is simply the salarian equivalent.

EDIT: Late post is late.

I think Garrus is about the same age as Shepard maybe younger. Besides according to the devs humans and Turians live about the same. He doesn't look like an old man though. The Turian councilor does however. I still don't know how an older Turian would look. There's not much difference between the ones I think are old and the ones that are young except for their voices.

Their metallic scales, especially the faceplates and mandibles, are more weathered-looking (IMO) and while I haven't evidence to support this for certain, I've noticed some turians have smoother faces and shorter fringes - "You humans are all racist!" guy leaps out, but there are a few others.

Are my Shepards the only ones who would never sacrifice themselves to save someone? xD I can't see any of them doing that, even though many of them would feel very guilty about it afterwards - like my poor Colonist Sole Survivor, who will take something like that as confirmation that everyone he cares about gets killed. Evil Shepard wouldn't really care on an emotional level, but even he would have a few nice last words for Garrus and a few others, then he would just re-evaluate the mission in his head constantly until he figured out what went wrong to prevent another failure next time.

@aznsoisauce: The first thing I thought of when I saw that picture was Dragonball Z. xD

Also, for anyone who would like to know - I was just reading an article in Game Informer about a ME2 interview with Casey Hudson and I thought this was interesting.

You will definitely be able to see characters from Mass Effect 2 in Mass Effect 3, as long as they're alive in the end of your story. It's a challenge for sure, but it's also going to be a huge payoff for players of the Mass Effect trilogy to see what happens with all these characters and storylines started by the first two games.

I really hope the parts about "challenge" and "huge payoff for players" are hints at returning ME2 squadmates. :D

Indeed. To me, cameos =/= huge payoff.

That's what I was thinking. :) Cameos don't seem like they'd be too challenging either.

So no, no canon answer, but they had 'under 30' in mind while writing and designing him. 30ish is good enough for me, since it's pretty close to Shep's age.

Some people have theorized that the faceplates crack a little with age; if you take a good look at Warden Kuril, he looks like a badly-patched piece of tarmac.

The only turian we have a confirmed age on, though, is Saren (44, I think?) and he's so modded out it's pointless to speculate how much of it is actually due to aging.

Yes he does look old and his face does look like it has cracks in it. Maybe it's more noticeable because he's bare faced. I like all Turians except the warden. I don't even hate the Turian Councilor but the warden is another story. I guess some Turian beliefs are right, bare faced Turians can't be trusted. Both Saren and the warden are bad people. Another coincidence is that they're both voiced by the same person.
