The easiest way to determine Garrus Vakarians age is to cut him in half and count the rings.

No we don't know his exact age.

We don't have an official answer but ppl think he is between 25 and 35.
imo he is 30ish

Actually the Omega stuff seemed like good prequel book material to me, if they plan to do more books of that sort. I'd love to see some Garrus-centric other-than-game material personally

I don't think there's any official answer to that.  Assuming Turians age similarly to humans, I'd put him in his early to mid 30's maybe.  I mean, Kaidan is 34ish by the time of ME2 and I really don't see Garrus being younger than him.  But I forget this is the land of video games, and characters tend to run younger.

Really? I always, for some reason, got the vibe that he was definitely younger than Kaidan. And Shepard. I think it's because he hasn't learned to accept what he can't change. Still all fiery and idealistic.

Oh, in a previous discussion of Garrus' age, someone mentioned that the amount of time he'd spent in the military should be taken in consideration when guessing how old he is. But the Codex entry on Turian culture says that Turian police forces are an extension of their military. Since Turians run C-Sec, Garrus' working there wouldn't necessarily mean he's served his full term in the military and is now "retired" from it. I'm not saying C-Sec is considered part of the Turian military, but since all other Turian police forces would be, I think a transfer to C-Sec wouldn't require a end of a Turian's military service. He probably just got shifted to Reserve status or, as I imagine, a status in the Turian military created specifically for Turians who chose to work at C-Sec. It must be pretty common.

Does that make sense?

Also: EVERY SINGLE TIME I wrote 'C-Sec' it came out 'C-Sex' and I had to retype it.

This thread is dead. So I guess I'll ask something to hopefully get some conversation going.

1. If Garrus had his own spin off game, what kind of game would you like it to be?
2. Would you like it to be a prequel to Mass Effect 1 (Prior to C-Sec or while in C-Sec...or both!), a prequel to Mass Effect 2 (Garrus forming the Justice League on Omega), or - assuming he's still alive - adventures after the events of Mass Effect 3?
3. If the game had romance in it, would you have Garrus be the suave ladies man we all know he is? (lol...?)

I would want a spin off game that could still read your original mass effect save files just so it can pull your Shepard out for some cameos. You know, like s/he would show up in vids, interviews, or maybe even flash backs.

@prolefeed -- doesn't Garrus say at some point in ME1 that he "left" the military? Not sure but I seem to recall something like that.  Plus his reach and flexibility story took place on a turian military cruise so we know he was in military-proper for at least a little while.

@snu55lepuff -- OMG!!!!  that was so hilarious. And I love the idea of just random turians using the fact that one of their own is banging the hero of the galaxy to brag in the faces of humans (or anyone) they don't like, a source of species pride hehe.  And the elcor/volus dialogue was genius.

to answer azn's questions:

1.  I think filling in the blanks on Omega would be the best.  It's already structured like an action-rpg (if they wanted to go that route, which would make sense) with him recruiting his own team and shooting baddies (just noticed both Garrus' and Shepard's ME2 "teams" are 12-person...doesn't mean anything, just funny coincidence, I guess.  Now I'm tempted to go over to one of those threads arguing "No TIM is God, no Miranda is CLEARLY Jesus with boobs" and be like...NO UR ALL WRONG, Garrus had 12 "disciples" AND a betrayal from the inside. Obviously Sidonis is Judas.).  The only problem I can see is that it still might mess with peoples' canons, depending on how or whether he reacts to Shepard's death, whether that's partly behind his downward spiral (in my mind it is ).  I do love the idea someone posted of it reading your save files and putting her face up on news vids and things.  awwww.... poor Garrus.


2.   Seconding opinion that  post-ME3 might be bad because of people's canons. 

3. Yeah, again personally I wouldn't want a romance.  I dunno....I suppose it could still work, as long as it's optional like everything else.  That way you could make him be "true" to Shepard, or if you're playing a manShep or something anyway, you get to be your buddy's "wingman," if you will

In other news. I keep thinking that I'm playing this series for entirely the wrong reasons. The gameplay is awesome, I enjoy the story, but it's this one damn character that keeps me coming back. There's another thread on these forums about how the public would react should the reapers "win" (Council air quotes) in ME3, and Shepard would become the next vigil, warning the future against the reapers.



My first thought was, so long as Garrus and Shepard escape with the crew and aren't angry at each other, that'd be fine : /
