That picture? That's beautiful. In case we need an example to illustrate the definition of the word. I like the interpretation of the collar ridge...not so much the shoulder (I like the smooth one in the concept art. Reminds me of muscle), but...Is it weird my favorite part of the picture is the clothes in the background? Little touches like that make it for me.

Uh....Does anybody else sometimes get momentarily snippy and uppity when they see a Garrus fanart or game clip of him with a shepard who isn't yours? Just for a second, but I get a "Oh my god Garrus you cheating sssss****! I thought you were with Shepard! I- wait. Oh. That is Shepard. Just someone else's version of her. OK, my bad. Carry on."

One of the reasons I'm actually pretty glad that there isn't really a default female Shep like there is for a male. (I know there's a default face, but we don't see her too often.)  I actually feel sorry for people who play a manshep, because if I played him I would spend the whole time feeling like my customized Shepard is "wrong", and that I'm not playing with the "real" Shepard. (Of course, the heavy ManShep marketing kind of does that anyway <_< ....)

Nah I don't get mad... I just have this filter that gives the Shepard mahoghny hair ... IN MY MIND!
Yea, one of the reasons I've been debating doing the Male Shep run through is because so far... it's REALLY hard to make a cute Man Shep... not sure why I'm having such a malfunction.  I guess I just got used to the whole, make something that looks close enough to you... (I totally didn't grok the whole RPG aspect of the game till WAAAAY later... so my FemShep looks like a ME me...)

MissNet- we tend to find that 90% of Tali's thread is spam. No idea about kaidan- prolly just some mega jealousy of the garrus love. >:)

A few visits to their thread has shown me that 70% of the time, the Kaidan thread is just as spamalicious as the Tali one. I have happened upon a few essays of theirs, but that was when the game first came out. Now that they've exhausted their examinations on his e-mail, it's mostly just a hang-out. Also, they keep reposting pics of Kaidan's head pasted on attractive men's half-naked bodies. No joke.

Hm...re-reading that, it sounds like I have something against Kaidan supporters. I don't. I applaud them for being interested in what I cannot find interesting. The above is just my observation.

DID SOMEBODY SAY GARRUS VOICE CLIPS? TO USE ON MAH PHONE?

I just realized how much the turian carapace gives them a turtle quality. This lead to me picturing Garrus somehow retreating his head into his shell. This lead to me wondering just how flexible turians could be. This lead to a bad place. Or a good one.

Not really. I've lurked there a few times. By spamalicious as the Tali thread, I mean that they post on the thread to greet everyone when they log on, then post when they're done for the day/night. We haven't done that here. As far as I'm concerned we stay on topic.

Even if on-topic to me means posting things like AdviceGarrus saying "PLOUGH LIKE FRESH SNOW."

I think there may be far too many GarrusXShep content out there for us to ever not have something to post...*scrolls through recent activity on deviantArt*

FFFFFUUUU-- You made me discuss something somewhat off-topic! This can be fixed:

I like Kaidan a lot, but I can't bring myself to post in the Kaidan thread because it is just a stone's throw away from being the Tali thread. I think I've had more in depth discussion about the game in the Garrus thread than in any other threads on the forum: stuff that I think should have actually been pulled out of this thread and into a new one so that people who purposely avoid these character threads could participate. It's one of the elements I don't like about the culture of these forums, that there are insular groups within the all encompassing one all because... I have no idea.

That's the trailer that plays on ME1 if you don't press "start" fast enough. ;)

As far as the Kaiden thread goes, it's a good place to hang out and we weren't given a lot except an angry confrontation on Horizon.

Yes.  I am a fan of both characters.

...kidding. I lurk both the Tali and Kaidan threads...mostly out of pure fascination.

In another thread, I said something foolish about ME1 LI supporters and how they shouldn't be angry since their characters are guaranteed for ME3. I had forgotten about my immense disappointment with what little Kaidan/Ashley interaction we were given. I mean, couldn't they have stuck him/her in the human councilor's office after Horizon? Whatever...it's not like it would have changed my Shep's pursuit of Garrus.

I wouldn't even necessarily say we stay on topic...I feel like we talk about other aspects of the game a lot, but to me the difference is more depth. More thoughtful discussion.  Kaidan thread can't really be blamed for that since they have so very little material in ME2 to work with. I imagine all topics have been beaten into the ground several times.

I was surprised the few times I managed to get into the Tali thread (My computer rejects it for some reason, freezes right up.  I'm not even kidding, it's really weird.  I think she's trying to protect me.) at how often they announce their arrivals and departures. That's foreign to me, and at at first I was like "LUL how self-important are you, to think that everyone leik cares when you get on and off?!111" but then I realized that they all seem to like it since they greet each other enthusiastically and whatnot.  They just use it as a chatboard, and we don't, really.

It's just differences in how we use the boards.  Like culture differences.  :P Here in Garrustopia we just don't really do that.

I actually love that they do that. I also think it's cute whenever a Talimancer says "Keelah se'lai" and stuff.

Man...what I wrote really seems like I'm bashing the other threads. That was not my intention.

Horizon pissed me off enough that I could let one Shep wander.  I started a new ME1 playthough, though, to not romance anyone to go into ME2 single.  May have to either be mean to Kaiden or Virmire him.  Not looking forward to either and hope I don't get stealthed by Liara in the process.

To be honest, I didn't actually think that I'd like Garrus at all, since the whole little brother thing.  But it turns out, your best pal is the best one to pick up the pieces.

Considering what you can do to the characters in DA:O, I don't think photoshopped Kaidens are all that bad. ;)

I do like, though that the Kaiden and Ashley threads are uniting, so to speak. I'm afraid if we tried that with the Talimancers, we'd be overwhelmed.

I'm addicted to this thread. Terrible. After all these posts, arts and vids i love Garrus even more. didn't think it was possible. This is my fav art: http://ghostfire.dev...eaper-156785671  Genius artist! Garrus's arts are the best. I still hope that Aris Ravenstar will finish her wonderful fanart.

Woah. Very very WOAH. I like it so much more than the sleek hardshell concept art. (And - did we just get the winner of Shirtless Garrus For Science! there? I think so.)

@Nissun:  Wiki to the rescue re: mandibles. The mandible (from Latin mandibula, "jawbone") or inferior
maxillary bone
forms the lower jaw and holds
the lower teeth in place. It also refers to both the upper
and lower sections of the beaks of birds; in this case the "lower mandible"
corresponds to the mandible of humans while the "upper mandible" is
functionally equivalent to the human maxilla
but mainly consists of the premaxillary
bones. Conversely, in bony fish for example, the
mandible may be termed "lower maxilla".

I keep telling myself that's not a rational thing to feel or think, but I feel and think just that. I can't help it. That's why I don't read femshep/Garrus fanficion, and keep my fanart consumption to a minimun.

One of the reasons I'm actually pretty glad that there isn't really a default female Shep like there is for a male.

Considering how much I ended up loving the default maleShep, I think I could have liked a default femshep as well. Not a bad idea, but now it's too late.

lolwut

So...I've been having trouble sketching out some fanart. Specifically, I'd like to draw Shepard either grappling or pinning Garrus but finding a good reference is difficult. I found an old "illustrating battles" book in my room recently, but I'd hate to have to just straight up copy one of the poses. That's one of the things I hate about how-to-draw books...I've never felt inspiration from them, just the temptation to copy what it shows you.

There are Jacob fans?

I kid. I really like him as a squadmate and if I had to choose a Cerberus type as my XO, it'd be him (in my happy little mind I chose Garrus - eat THAT, Miranda!)  - but yeah, most of his romance dialog is just way too heavy-handed for me to see him as the loyal, ethical, free-thinking soldier LI he was supposed to be. (Free-thinking and soldier, not two words that typically go together, but as a personality they do fit for Jacob. Just ... not as boyfriend material.)

Costume update for those paying heed: I had to order new liquid latex as I apparently treated my old bucket o' goop to extreme temperatures, so it got all passive-aggressive on me and it wouldn't cast right. I may have the full prototype (hands, feet/stilts, full head and neck mask with moving mandibles) by mid-April. I'm meeting with friends in the 501st at I*Con later this month for assistance with gun props and armor, as I am not an armorer and thus need much hand-holding.
