While we're on the subject of turian eyes, am I the only one who noticed that the skin around Garrus' eyes is a lot darker after the recruitment mission? Do you think he actually had to have that skin replaced? When he's lying on the floor in a pool of blood, the camera does a close-up of his scouter eye and it looks completely fine though...

I also find his expressions MUCH harder to read after you recruit him. Maybe the scenes during his recruitment mission just have much better lighting and cinematography or something. Or maybe I'm crazy.

No, I get that too.  The thing is, if I look reeeeally closely I don't think the area around his eyes is darker. In fact, aside from the scarring I can't figure out exactly what it is that makes his eye look so different (and like you said....whatever it is that makes his whole face harder to read.)  As far as I can tell when I really look,  it's pretty much that same...what am I missing?

His face has a big ol bandage and some deformity and swelling going on. He's less expressive cuz he can't move his face as well. /shrug

I hope my Shepards can get a happy ending in ME3. No betrayals (unless it really fits the characters' personality), no deaths except for ME2 suicide mission-style deaths depending on the players choices... Shepard has been through enough. xD (And one of my Shepards wants to live happily ever after being a vigilante with Garrus! She can't do that if he dies.)

Ms Cherissa wrote...

Interesting thing I'm just now noticing - Renegade Shep's cyberneticly-enhanced eyes get almost the same pattern as TIM's, towards the beginning, except red/orange. I wonder if that means that, ultimately, TIM leans Paragon.

The biggest in-game choice for my Shepard who likes the Illusive Man - use the Med-Bay upgrade or not. xD While logic tells her that most human males would not find scars to that extent attractive, she likes the fact that her eyes remind her of TIM now. Much more thought is going into this decision than any life or death choices, the fate of the Council in ME1, or any of TIM's requests/orders (which she follows without any thought at all).

Just...no deaths.  I'm all for drama, but we've lost at least one person (or had the opportunity to) in each game so far.  I realize it's war and you lose people in war, but I'd rather have my character drama come from perilous situations or character and plot developments.

Let me try for an example here.  I was super excited about Dragon Age back when it came out.  Unfortunately I didn't have the resources to buy it, then ME2 was released and I was "FFFFFFfff that, I'm buying ME2 thankyouvurymuch."  So I never got to play it.  At now at this point...I'm pretty sure I won't because from what I've gathered from these forums about LI's and happy endings in that game.   As far as endings go, sorry, I like 'em happy and resolved, tons of sunshine and butterflies.  Definitely some kind of ever after. 'm exaggerating...but only a little.  I want at least the possibility of my epic happy ending.

So the point of that incoherent ramble (I'm so sorry, the studying....my brain, she is fried. :pinched: FOCUS SILT, FOCUS) was that the lack of satisfying ending is what is keeping me from Dragon Age, and while it won't keep me from buying ME2 (That is the emptiest threat ever.  I laugh at the thought) it will certainly affect the end result of whether I think the game is good or a piece of ****.  Sorry, stuff like that matters to me.

Call me a cliche Hollywood-ified American, but I also like my happy endings.  I like feeling that my effort pays off, and unavoidable character deaths does not equal a reward.  You had the ME1 Ashley/Kaidan situation, the suicide run in ME2, and I think in ME3 it should really just come down to 1) Shepard wins or 2) the galaxy loses.  No superfluous squadmate deaths.  If anyone has the possibility of dying in ME3 I think it should just be Shepard alone.

And please don't let whatever you heard about the multitude of possible Dragon Age endings put you off!  You're doing yourself a MAJOR disservice by denying the awesome LI that is Alistair.  Seriously, if Alistair was in Mass Effect 2 I think my genitals would explode trying to choose between him & Garrus (and yes, you're welcome for the visual Posted Image).  A happy ending IS possible - I should know, I got it! - you just have to be willing to compromise a bit to get there.

Edit to clarify: I didn't want my "compromise" line to seem too fatalistic.  I think Dragon Age succeeds more in this arena than in Mass Effect 2 in that each decision you make tends to be more gray than black & white - it was often extremely hard to predict where the story would go dependent upon the choices I made.  In ME2 it's pretty much 'upgrade the ship + get your squad loyalty = winz!'.

It would definitely take me a long time to get around to any playthroughs of ME3 after the first one if there a lot of my favorite characters die in a way that can't be prevented. D: Actually, it would take me a long time to finish that first playthrough because I would already know about any character deaths from reading the forums.

I still watch movies over and over even if my favorite character dies in the end (it's sad, but it tends to happen a lot when your favorite characters are often the villains - the ME version of this is Saren), but it's different with Mass Effect. In other videogames, character deaths usually can't be prevented because the story can't be altered at all, and the main character isn't your own creation. In a game like Mass Effect... it would feel like those choices didn't matter if everyone died no matter what.

Dragon Age is quite a bit darker than Mass Effect, in my opinion. I guess the endings don't bother me because I wasn't very attached to those characters like the ones from Mass Effect. For example, most of my Shepards don't have the same romance interests (there are a few exceptions) because it would seem like they're cheating, but the romances double up for a lot of my DA characters. (There is one sad scene though... I won't spoil it, but I will say that I have no idea why I couldn't figure out how to use the litany or whatever it's called. I think my first DA character just became Shepard #4 - forever filled with guilt.)

See, I'm OK with deaths happening if they are a, preventalbe, and b, change the story arc in some way. I'm all for multiple endings as well. I think there are too many choices of consequence for all the roads to lead to the same path.

I want my FemShep to have her happy ending (at this point, she and Garrus will team up and fight injustice accross the universe! XD), but I'm a sucker for drama as well, and really care about my characters, so if there were other endings which were less 'happy' than others, I'd cope with that. I want as many excuses to replay as I can. While I think I'd hate combat without Garrus by my side, if there was an ending which lead to his death, I think I would find that very emotive, which is always a good thing in a game. As long as it was preventalble! I want the story to take me to as many places emotionally as it can, and I know I'm gonna play and replay.

As for Garrus.... anyone else think it strange he won't take off his scarred armour? Ever. Even when he comes for sex? XD

Well, he does take off the armor for the sex scene...just not his scanner!  What is he looking for anyways, G-spots?

And I agree: preventable deaths = good storytelling/replayability.  Deaths beyond our control = boo!

Why would garrus take off his visor? if he does i might be unable to distinguish him from any other turian jk lol,
he probably doesnt take it off because he feel safe with it, its like his comfort blanky, he might feel empty or insecure without it, i feel the same way when i dont wear my jacket in school

I thought he had his eyes replaced. Before finishing the recruitment mission his eyes didn't glow in the dark and didn't have that red thing that you can see on his loyalty mission when you're in the car.

what eye thing? i never noticed garrus' eyes glowing in the dark, to me the facial scarring just highlights his eyes

The red thing is just a reflection of light from elsewhere in the scene. If you watch it, it doesn't stay in the same place on his eyes when he moves his head, and it's absent from the closeups later on.

I snorted my milk. Twice. The earlier scanner comment, then this one.

I....I feel ashamed that I never noticed a terribly large difference between Garrus' pre- and post- recruitment appearance outside of the more obvious scarring and bandage-thing. Curse you, standard-def TV! Now I feel like I need to go get a new TV to go along with my XBox....just so I can see Garrus better! OMG! How bad is that? *L*

Hey, here's something. When Garrus is trying to compliment Shepard, he mentions a supportive waist was being a positive attribute. DH and I are having a discussion about this- whether that means a) females are generally even thinner than males, and sometimes to the point of 'structural' weakness, so a thicker waist is desirable or B) females have thicker waists than males to begin with, hence the compliment.

The fringe thing...I don't know. I saw some fanart that depicted a female counterpart to the turian concept art guy, and they had the fringe turned downward. Makes sense with the avian thing, but the devs have kind of backpedaled on that comparison, and as far as reptiles/raptors (dinosaur kind) go it's more of a crapshoot whether the male looks more 'impressive' or the genders are equal. I personally like the idea of comparable fringe on both.

And Garrus.

Edited: Because I seem to have this issue with typing!!!

Just to remind him for the rest of his life.

And its kind of sad to see that our thread is so far behind the other fan threads. We barely have up to 3000 posts, and when kaiden of all people has 12,000. Liara even has more then garrus.

Does this mean that not to many people are fans of garrus? =(

Blasphemy! I maintain that the cause of the slower posting is that we have more meaningful discussions. And then repeat them. Over. And over. If we all decided to come on and post in one-sentence bursts, or just pop in to say "hi", or even just to 'bump' the thread, I'm certain we'd kersplode our thread in no time.

ETA: My brain thinks faster than my stupid, uncoordinated fingers can move. That's it.

Here, here!  Also, I think no one in the Tali thread knows or cares about editing up quotes to make them more specific and readable.  They just hit the quote button and type a one word response; makes a lot of their posts verrrry long and embedded (maybe I'm just OCD or something but that drives me crazy.  :pinched:)

Thats because more guys play this game than girl. Trust me if it was equal amounts guy to girl voting, it would be damn close... if not a staggering victory.

Also, the music videos are getting better and better! I just wish Bioware gave us more footage to work with. :(
Always ME3! (please please please)

Well...thats good. Don't mean to offend any tali fans here but for some reason i can't find the reason why tali is so awesome =/
