Character Polls would appear to disagree with you Mr.Blazen. Garrus is always #2 in popularity (behind Tali, obviously)

Well...thats good. Don't mean to offend any tali fans here but for some reason i can't find the reason why tali is so awesome =/

The same reason Garrus is for most of the female audience.

They are very similar character concepts. Strong willed fighters who have been through a lot. However when it comes to the topic of love and Shepard, they both turn into bumbling geeks. Something a lot of gamers can enjoy relate too. Emotionless for the most part, but when it comes to love, hopelessly pathetic.

Eh I wouldn't say pathetic, but adorkable. XD But my brain is still trying to wake up.

I really shouldn't be on and posting and reading (oh hai there Garrus Addiction, how are you this morning?) since I've got to get stuff ready for a friend's baby shower tomorrow...

But I needed to come here and add my shiny .02!

Never worries me that we don't have the numbers in pages that the Tali/Kaiden threads do, simply because we talk about Garrus and turians! And that is enough for me ^.^

As for the raptor/bird's eyes thing, totally slipped my mind, now that I think about it, yea, they're very bird like, I was just stuck on cat like since I saw reflections, or brightness, and brain said KITTY! Plus, Garrus is cuddable like a kitty... right? Oo

Silt! Don't give up on Dragon Age! I had this big long thing about how yea I'm a silly American that likes to be entertained in a happy ending fashion and that Dragon Age SEEMED like it wasn't going to give me something... but it gave me something, something from left field that I could totally work with and want to see DESPERATELY what happens with it in the next game, So don't give up!

As for Garrus before/after... I think we're given one hell of a nice clean up from ME1 to ME2 Garrus, and then it's all scarred up. Which... I love. He looks... seasoned with the scars. /eyes bunk

TIM - No. I don't think he's got inner paragon going on. I think he just switched his LEDs out because he's trixsy. That man is evil. EVIL. /mutters about Cerberus and Threshermaws

Visor - He's watching the vids, the procrastinator... >.> Actually, I think because of the damage to his face, he probably doesn't even realize he's wearing it anymore. I almost consider it his glasses, and I got so used to those on my hubby, don't even see them anymore really.

Fringe/Waist - You might be on to something regarding the waist thing... but I've noticed that out of a lot of the turians I've looked at (obsessively) for tats, Garrus has a very long one. Like it knifes out there pretty far. A good portion of the Turian population seems to have shorter or slightly curled fringe. Makes me wonder how female fringe is shaped. Is length indicative of age? Handsomeness (among turians at least).

OH and last thought before this gets way to out of hand... WARDEN has SAREN voice?! I KNEW THAT BUGGER SOUNDED FAMILIAR!

There! In the bold!!!

!!!!

I feel like the world's most stupid idiot for never realizing this but YOU JUST BLEW MY GODDAMN MIND!

And ok, Support for Dragon Age.  Maybe I'll still give it a shot someday (if only so that I can understand all ya'll's references better...).  Not until summer anyway, when I'll go back to my parents house and hopefully get access to the little brother's copy...which unfortunately is only for PC, but maybe I can persuade him to give me access to his wickedawesomegaminglaptop for a week.

WHICH brings me to: I may or may not be able to persuade him to do the same thing for spring break, which starts on Saturday for me (WHOO!), And I'm really hoping I can play his copy of ME2 in order to grab some screenshots/video.  (I want video of my Shepard's romance scene with Garrus, damnit!)

Question, for those of ya'll who take screenies and make videos and stuff...what programs do you use to do it?  Is it freeware?  How much hard drive space do video captures take up?  Is it a complicated process? Having never had the opportunity I have NO IDEA how I'd go about doing it.

Re: our thread not being as long as the other fan threads.... wasn't Garrus Love and Adoration Part 1 shut down for it's length, or did I imagine that?

Also, we emulate the man we love: we get to the point (well, we try). Tali and Kaiden talk in circles!

(no offence for either character. I love them both dearly, just not as much as Garrus. And I'm trying to defend our honor here!)

I love that Garrus has no idea what he thinks he should be saying to comliment FemShep. He tries to make the Turien comparison. Speak from the heart, Gar!

(and in summery. Garrus squee!)

Well, actually, I started a conversation on the Kaidan thread about pets. Would we and the krogan be the oddballs of Citadel Space in keeping our partner animals around, or do you think the rest of the aliens kept their equivalent of dogs/cats or verren around?

You can use FRAPS.  That's a decent program for capturing videos and screenshots, and it's free.

Hey, here's something. When Garrus is trying to compliment Shepard, he mentions a supportive waist was being a positive attribute. DH and I are having a discussion about this- whether that means a) females are generally even thinner than males, and sometimes to the point of 'structural' weakness, so a thicker waist is desirable or B) females have thicker waists than males to begin with, hence the compliment.

The fringe thing...I don't know. I saw some fanart that depicted a female counterpart to the turian concept art guy, and they had the fringe turned downward. Makes sense with the avian thing, but the devs have kind of backpedaled on that comparison, and as far as reptiles/raptors (dinosaur kind) go it's more of a crapshoot whether the male looks more 'impressive' or the genders are equal. I personally like the idea of comparable fringe on both.

Yeah, I have wondered on occasion whether the females were slightly larger and sturdier than the males in keeping with the whole "raptor" thing.

And the supportive waist....I considered it might mean they have thicker waists as well.  Even if females are smaller thinner as whole, the fact that a supportive waist is a compliment suggests that the thicker, the more appealing.  Which could also be a nice physical aspect of Shep/humans that Garrus could find attractive just at face value -- since her proportions give her a thicker waist than turians.  I like to think so anyway =).

Also, I think the polls show that when you ask people who lurk the Bioware forums who their favorite is, Garrus's fans are either just as numerous or just as dedicated.  The difference is as everyone else says, we don't spam, we have real discussions.  If you've ever been in the Tali thread it's only about 10% real..content.  Her thread would be the largest regardless, but it would way less ridonkulous.   Honestly I think  it's partly a "because we can" mentality behind that.

Even when we get "off  topic" in here it still usually arose tangentally from something Garrus-related, or is abouut turians in general, which I think is fine.

On of the most popular programs is probably fraps. It has a free version and a "unlocked" paid version for $37. I also know of xfire which is free but I've been having issues with uploading their videos ANYWHERE (including their own site) or converting their videos to a more upload friendly format, .flv.

Did someone post a video using MSI's "Shut Me Up"?? IT WAS AWESOME!

If I had the patience to make a ShepXGarrus video, I would set it to Apoptygma Bezerk's "In This Together."
And I'd make another one for complete and utter LULZ set to Kesha's "Blah Blah Blah" where I'd mach Mordin's lipsynch to the part with 30h!3 in it.

Edit: While I was typing "ShepXGarrus" I thought...is there a shipping name for that pairing? Like how Kaidan lovers have Shenko.
Shakarian?
Vakepard?

Turian related:

Is Saren actually a barefaced Turian?

Posted Image

There, on his jaw/mandible. Are those colony markings, or something else?

He might have given up on his markings as he lost connection to his species.

If anyone's still looking for good songs for Garrus/FemShep... "I'd Come For You," Nickelback.

@FrancisKitt - I always thought those were cybernetic implants or something from Sovereign.

Although...I must admit that it's a bit curious that Saren is a Spectre if he is indeed bare-faced. But...I suppose his skills and actions may have allowed the council to overlook that.

Kim Shepard, i like your Shepards. My own Sheps don't talk to each other, they all talk to me. Voices in my head. o.O One of my Shep has turian friend, he is financial genius and he likes to collect musicial instruments of diffrent races. He even has stradivarius violin. hmmm... Do turians have musical instruments? how it look like? need research.

About happy end. Yes, i support happy end for ME3. With Garrus, of course. I have so many thoughts what they could do together after happy ME3 end.

@ Francis -- looks like evil cyborgey implants of evil to me.

Shep/Garrus ship names - LOL "Vakepard." Gepard, that's even worse. Garpard...no. Garepard? nah. Shepus? yes, Shepus! Maybe? Shepus Shakarian! That's a tongue-twister...

BTW SiltSonata don't think anyone's mentioned yet that the Fraps files will be GINORMous especially from something hi-res like ME2. Their site is pretty helpful though and also has a link to some programs you can use to compress the files.

I'm with you on wanting footage of my own Shep romance. Everytime I see these music videos I'm itching to make on of my own. I've actually considered buying ME2 on PC (even though I have it on 360 already) just to be able to take video >.

EDIT: Mass Effect + Firefly = head implodes with joy

EDIT 2: ok somehow one of my paragraphs got deleted in the intertubes.   Here's what I was trying to say, with more sense:

The only problem with me switching to PC is that my MainShep's face is the only one I'd want, but she was created in ME1 on 360, which means no face code.  I'm not sure I could recreate her manually on PC, and having it close but not quite right would bother me too much I think.

I was trying to think of a way around this -- any ideas? I considered...maybe..importing her into ME2 on 360, and when it lets me edit her, tweaking just ONE tiny thing. Will the game then show me a face code once I save that face? Then I could take that code, put it into my PC version, and just untweak that one little thing, and voila......good plan or glaring holes I'm not seeing?

I dunno.  I tried to "fix" some flaws on my 360 import Shep (the blush is WAY darker in ME2 for some reason and I don't think she'd be tan after being dead/comatose for two years), but I could never duplicate her.  I gave up.

I'm pretty sure the face code is the string of letters and numbers in the top left of the character screen...seen below as "identity code."

Right, but the thing is, if you made your character in ME1, there is no code there.  So I am wondering, if I import my ME1 Shepard, but change one small thing, will it then start displaying a code because she's an "ME2" created face now?

And its kind of sad to see that our thread is so far behind the other fan threads. We barely have up to 3000 posts, and when kaiden of all people has 12,000. Liara even has more then garrus.

Does this mean that not to many people are fans of garrus? =(

Nope. It means we actually converse here, however far off the beaten path the conversations may be, as opposed to posting "good morning, thread" and "good night, thread" and photoshops of Kaidan's head on some human male body, or "lololololololol" for five pages after said shoop is posted.

And now to recycle another Chuck Norris/Vin Diesel joke!

---

I dreamed last night I died and went to Heaven. I get up there and St. Pete is showing me around and we get to the Court of the Lord, and He is sitting in the center of a semi-circle of chairs.

"Pete," I ask, "Who sits in the other chairs?"

"Well," St. Pete answers, "The angels of glory sit to the right of the Most High; the angels of destruction sit to the left of Our Lord."

At this point, Garrus Vakarian waltzes through and says, "Hey, God? Why are you in my chair?"

Actually, I had the same problem with an imported shep of mine...the thing is, I've never been able to figure out how to change one thing on the imported face.  Every time I go to customize it leaves my imported face and goes right to default.

My solution was to import my Shepard in a new game, then grab the face code from the skill points screen in the main menu.  I started another game and used that face code.  Some of the stuff from ME1 doesn't import right for whatever reason, but it give the basic shepard, then I tweaked from there.  I wrote the code down for future use. (And I've gotten a lot of use out of it.)

Thanks for the Fraps advice, Hmmm....that might be an obstacle since I'd probably need to transfer the video to my computer to edit (Lil bro has no time for things like ART psh) and I don't know where my 11 GB flash drive is...I only have my 2GB one...

AND THAT AIMO ART MADE MY EFFING DAY.   Captain Garrus "Tightpants" Vakarian, yes please! :o
