Actually, I completely agree with you. I don't think he ever initiates physical contact because he's afraid of being disrespectful or stepping out of line. I believe I mentioned this awhile back, but IMO that just makes it even more touching in the final scene when he reaches out to her for the first time.

In ME3 he and Shepard will probably be more physical though. I mean come on, after the suicide mission they cuddle on the bed and she sits in his lap. If in ME3 Garrus STILL refuses to be "touchy-feely" then I will have to slap someone.

The final romance scene kills me in the best way possible when he finally reaches out to touch Shepard's arm. I noticed that he waits until after Shepard touches his face, though. As if waiting for a cue of some kind that it was okay for him to reciprocate the motion. Very thoughtful.

There definitely needs to be more physical contact in the third game. Like a hug interrupt or something.

...brohug for Garrus also supported!

Agreed, and I don't even know why.

In other news, I had to report a whole thread today for the first time ever - not just here, anywhere. I've been using the internets actively since '94 and used them thar old dialup BBS things even longer, so I guess I've mostly avoided the morons.

I'd make a good turian (way to sneak in the Garrus reference) as I consider myself fairly society-oriented rather than individual-oriented; politically conservative in a don't-rock-the-boat way (this still leaves room for progressive thinking BTW) and I identify myself as Christian. That said WTF WTH ZOMG O_o O.O O_o re the hate thread that they started up to bash the people asking for same-sex romance options in ME?

Just so we're clear? "WTF WTH ZOMG O_o O.O O_o" is a real word. Honest.

Have I been lucky in my internet encounters so far to have avoided this sort of nonsense?

How physical is the Tali romance? I think they hug or something during the culmination scene, and she at least jumps on him and you can hear kissing. It seems that Garrus is the only physically restrained LI...which could be good (awww, he's so sweet & respectful/nervous!) or bad (Bioware doesn't want to bother figuring out which Turian slot goes with what human hole...).

High hopes for ME3, regardless. We need a new thread dedicated to the Hug!Interrupt.

Maybe he's just slow to do the touching cuz of all those razor-sharp bits turians have. Turian skin is described by the codex as being thick/tough but not enough to stop bullets, and Grunt describes that you have to work the knife - by turian standards, human skin is probably extremely delicate. He'd have to have an awful lot of restraint since he didn't watch the vids.

Lazy Garrus is lazy.

That part was the best IMO. When Shepard touches Garrus' face and when he reaches out to touch Shepard's arm. I bet there was a lot more touching after that. In ME3 there should be more involved, I doubt Garrus would be nervous again, he already went through the hard part.

Don't forget the cute headbump! I think that is kissing for turians, I would think they would nuzzle mandibles aswell or something.

@MarginalBeast You sure? I was very aware that seducing Thane/Jacob was a top right choice, where was seducing Garrus was always a middle right ot bottom right choice. I know they don't yield points, but I think when your brain is trained to associate one with the paragon path, and the other with the renegade path, it's an interesting choice on Bioware's part.

Also, I think I must have skipped over that James Bond stuff before, inexplicably. GARRUS IN A TUXEDO SQUEE!

(sigh, if only)

Even if he can't kiss I see no reason why Shepard shouldn't kiss him on the neck or something. However the headbump is amazing.

To even START the romance with Garrus you need tp pick the upper-right option.

Also, breaking it off with Tali is the in the paragon slot. But I highly doubt that BioWare was trying to say "If you continue to pursue Tali, you're a selfish renegade!".

I'd love for Dude!Sheps to be able to Hug!Interrupt Garrus in the middle of his calibrations spiel.

Dude!Shep: Got a minute?

Garrus: Can it wait for a bit, I'm in the middle of some--

Dude!Shep: *Hug!Interrupt!*

Garrus: Er, Shepard?

Dude!Shep: Ssssh, I'm having my bromantic moment, don't ruin this for me.

Tali's romance has quite a bit of physical interaction, but it's understandable why she'd be a bit more forward with Dude!Shep as far as physical boundaries go. She holds hands with him, hugs him, initiates a quarian pounce interrupt on him...and I think she touches his face at some point. The footage I was watching that "face touch" scene from was pretty low quality so I could be entirely wrong about that.

But yes, we definitely need to devote our energy to making a Hug!Interrupt possible on every squadmate. Even Zaeed, because mean, ugly mercenary men need hugs, too.

Best response to seeing that he's Archangel is definitely the renegade option, though. She's just so happy!!

I love how she goes like she's goin to hug him... but then they don't. Mind you, wouldn't you be excited to find out one of your best friends was Batman. :wizard:

@marginalbeast. I get that, but the option to break it off with him is 'paragon' too. I'm not saying it's a massive deal, but I always feel when playing through that it is steering me towards friendship with Officer Vakarian, where was every converstaion I have with Thane/Jacob seems to be steering me towards some lovin'. Maybe it's just me. (and yes, I am accounting for the 'renegade' nature of Garrus' badassery.) Plus, y'know, there is the 'your stomach could asplode as a result' thing. lol

Oh, to come back to the Garrus/Omega time discepencey thing: wouldn't that make an awesome ME book? Garrus time on Omega, how he built his team, etc? I'm sure he didn't choose Omega simply because of its lawlessness: something drew/drove him there. (Also, to the Thanix Cannon question. I reckon Merc groups nicked it from the Turiens, and Garrus nicked it from the Merc groups).

I totally agree with you, garrus' "grand crusades" on omega can make a good book, a good DLC, or preferably a good expansion pack for mass effect 2

I love Shepard's response to seeing Garrus again. Fratboy/hug attempt gesture and everything...but I thought that was the neutral option?

Renegade one has Shepard going: Buh, Garrus? What are you doing here?

Garrus: Nice to see you too.

I only remember one conversation where breaking it off with Garrus was the "paragon" choice, and that was the last romantic dialogue you could have with him. To initiate the romance, Shepard has to pick the "paragon" choices in the upper right.

Second conversation has Shepard picking the middle option to continue the romance. The "renegade" one breaks it off with him there.

Final conversation (before romance scene) is the one where the "paragon" choice is the one that breaks it off with him.

...I kind of hated the inconsistent structure. It's like BioWare was trying to trick me into picking the paragon option (especially since that was all I did in the first game -- always shot up to the paragon option and never even read the line).

I know the upcoming Kasumi DLC has been discussed, but on Christina Norman's twitter she said that something in it would make "FemShep fans very happy!".  The only thing that is FemShep-specific in the game are the LIs, right?  Sooo...this could relate to Garrus?!
:o
Some people seem to think it may be a Thane-related cure mission, but that would seem an odd inclusion when it appears to be focused on Kasumi...a Thane-cure deserves it's own DLC.  I would be happy if that were the case, don't get me wrong, but anything with more Garrus (that makes us happy!) would be welcome!
