No i mean the Tali-ban video was funny. Not everyone's reactions. :P

TBH, I really like Garrus.  He's awesome.  I had the idea for that video in my head for so long and I'm glad that it turned out well.  I need to figure out a way to do it with other characters. lol

Than I am sorry, I misinterpeted your motives. I thought you were writing about Garrus video and linked it to ****** someone or anything.

Yes Taliban is funny. Why it shouldn't be? You have to have distance to people - fictional or otherwise.

My FepShep just did not talk to Kaidan at all in the first Mass Effect. He was kind of boring and I held out for Garrus in ME2. I was pleasantly surprised.

Now, Bioware has stated that they wanted it to be "very difficult" to stay faithful to your ME1 love interest, and I think they followed through on this. They've got the creative power to pull at your heartstrings through cutscenes and dialogue and such.

However, after Kaidan's outburst (not applicable to me, sorry Kaidan, but you ate fallout) on Horizon, how the HELL are they going to make him attractive again?  A yell-fest to me one e-mail will not undo >:C

I kind of worry that Garrus might have something written in that would be out of character (well, in my eyes) for him. Would hate to see him give the Horizon treatment or worse to my FemShep.

I feel like the only person in the entire world that liked Kaidan slightly more as a result of the Horizon encounter. Nice to see he grew a personality in the interim between ME1 and ME2.  Same goes for Ash:  seeing both of them say "Teaming up with a sick terrorist organization? Um, no, you know what?  Not OK."  made me like them more, because they're standing up for what they believe in and not just caving in because Shepard is TEH LUV OF DER LIFE!!!11.  I thought it was especially in-character for Ashley, since she's so emotionally-driven.  Kaidan was a bit more jarring, but in a good way.  Maybe it's different because I watched those scenes without the emotional attachment of romancing them, but I was very satisfied.  I dunno. You spend a lot of the first game watching everybody kiss Shepard's ass and it's nice to see a change, and we saw it in the "dark second act".  Seems fitting.

That being said, such an encounter with Garrus would not make sense to me in the third game.  This is about conclusions, and conflict was more appropriate for the middle of the relationship. Garrus and all of the LI's need to focus on a conclusion in ME3.

I totally agree!!! After talking to Kaidan on Horizon, I was like "Hot damn! Someone grew a new backbone!" I loved Kaidan in ME1, and even though I'd already decided to pursue the Garrus-mance on my first playthrough, after Horizon I spent a while running around the Normandy and Citadel, trying to find a "Grovel to Kaidan and have him take you back" option. In ME1, it's pretty clear he's a moral guy, very concern with ethics. I love that he clearly won't compromise who he is for anything or anyone, not even Shepard.

And seing him angry was really hot, too. ^_^

If Garrus is Batman, Kaidan is so Superman. (When Superman's not being a dick, that is.)

I just finished my 2nd playthrough (full renegade) and I had romanced Thane this time around.  During the final battle, after you knock off the baby Reaper, you're given the option to save or destroy the base, blah blah.

Well, Thane pipes up with an argument for destroying the base wherein he inserts a "Siha" (his term of endermeant for Shep).  Since I'm assuming he doesn't refer to MaleShep as siha, this would make it a LI-specific dialogue.  However, I don't remember Garrus chiming in with a "Hold on, honey bunches!" when he offered his rebuttal during my first playthrough!

I know Thane is the only one with an LI nickname, but it would have been nice to have an acknowledgement from the other LIs in some capacity.  Whether it be if they died, or if you make them a specialist (ahem, Garrus as fire team leader, ahem), etc etc...

I agree... It was kind of strange that the crew clearly never really speaks to one another and all just stay in their rooms all day, but had instantaneous psychic knowledge when I tried to pull a fast one and put the moves on two LIs at once.

What exactly does Thane say, if you can remember? Just curious, I love the siha thing (romanced him on one playthrough too, but didn't take him to battle).  Yeah we were saying in the first thread for a while how nice it would have been to have a short exchange between Shep and Garrus when she assigns him to fireteam, about how it's her way of saying she still believes in him despite what happened to his Omega squad...it would have been touching.

As for the cheating issue, I think my biggest problem with the romances right now (since we have no idea what Bioware is planning at this point) is the notion that romancing in ME2 is "cheating" in the first place.  I know it's been argued about in other forums, but I will be really angry if ME3 tries to make you feel like you "cheated" on your ME1 LI and punishes you for that somehow.  It's not even clear whether Shep slept with the ME1 LI more than just one time, she died soon after, was dead 2 years during which Kaiden, at least, started dating again, and while it's fine that he stands by his principles in hating Cerberus, I'm sorry, his reaction to Shep on Horizon just goes too far.  Getting angry at her for not contacting him WHILE DEAD, not listening to why she's all tangled up with Cerberus (especially insulting for a Paragon Shep that doesn't trust Cerberus herself), plus she can even offer for him to join her on the Normandy again, way before romance dialogue opens up for anyone but Jacob.  It's not like the conversation ends with "we are just taking a break" and the email does not count.  You want someone to wait for you while they're going through hell, you gotta do more than send them a text.

ok done

Very true.

What I figure it boils down to is strictly time. They really didnt focus that much on refining the lovers you have in the game. It looks to me like they designed the game so you'd have a lovescene before the suicide run, and that was it. The little bit of cuddling you have post-game seems like an afterthought, and one put there simply so you'd have some visual confirmation of your love for your specific character.

I seriously hope bioware takes all our pleading to heart when crafting Garrus and others for ME3. This is it, the final chapter! We should be ble to express in full our love for whatever characer we've taken. Romance is all well and good, but without being able to take that love to the next level, it'll seem nothing more than a casual fling.

I actually do sometimes wonder who Garrus is outside of being Garrus, unless he really is Batman and his personal mission eats up all his time. Does he even HAVE hobbies, besides collecting and cleaning his guns?

Actually, "siha" doesn't seem to be specifically romance related. My Shep never romanced Thane, just talked to him the friendly way (and was already hooking up with Garrus anyway), and Thane started calling her "siha" as well (just without ever explaining what it meant, as that is apparently part of the romance itself). At the end, he also gave his comment to my Garrus-rel. Shep addressing her as "siha"... which I actually thought was kind of weird.

I figure Garrus has no nickname for you (at least not one he'd use "in public") because he wants to be professional in the workplace, for lack of a better way to put it. I don't really see him saying anything romance related in the middle of a battlezone... May just be me, though.

You know what I really look forward to? People finding out about my Turian loves off of here.  Ms Cherissa and I are actually fiddling with the idea of making Turian suits we can go to conventions like Dragon Con in.. Now going around as actual Turians is bound to be awesome, but there are other awkward aspects

For instance I forsee family and friends finding out about this. It's rather difficult for me to hide my love/desire for Turians like Garrus. Eventually people are going to put 2 and 2 together, ya know? I'm sure at least some of you (especially artists) are going to have to deal with that too.

It's bad enough that this is xenophilia, and most people are freaked out by that. But add to that the fact I'd have a rather overt gay love for him and then.. well heads would randomly begin to implode around me.

It's all fine and good to obsess on here with fellow g-fans, but damnit all if I don't feel nervous about people finding out off of here.

Luckily, fandom in general is open-minded and seems to treat such things as 'hey, if it's between consenting adults...'.  I've also found, over the years, the more matter-of-factly one treats such things, the less fuss the sane people make. The not so sane ones will fuss over anything, regardless of the actual topic and its impact on life.

I liked that the Virmire survivor stood up to Shep for her choices. Didn't make me forgive Kaiden for breaking my poor Shep's heart and sooner, though. It added a dimension to their relationship to Shepard I thought was needed.

Re: Garrus and pet names and romantic dialogue on the final battle. I think that's out of character for him (and Shep).

WUT? No. Wai. Kaidan is Flash. Not the original Jay Garrick Flash or the 'one true Flash' Barry Allen Flash, but WHINY pre-Mark Waid Walley West Flash!

Or, if I'm feeling generous, he's Kyle Rayner Green Lantern.

I'm not feeling generous right now. Please try again after coffee.

Depends on his writer, and IMO Wally West's attempts at it always just came across as mean.

Poll The Internets Time, since so many people here are awesome artists. I'm replacing my Wacom tablet and could use suggestions. And then I will keep people updated with turian costume stuff.

Ok, to address a few of the points:

I started ME2 thinking BOO KAIDEN YAY GARRUS! <3

I have to say, I'm actually warming to Kaiden. He's not whiney **** boy anymore in my mind. Granted, I still squidged a bit over trying to romance him in ME1 (to have the faithful/cheating endings in ME3) because of the whole military thing, but I got over it, and I L-O-V-E-D his Horizon freak out. The DRAMAZ ZOMG. It was delicious. Because yea, I can see someone who was ready to actually move on get really pissed that he's not allowed to anymore. Granted, the initial romance still seemed a bit weak to me, because he was always leaving himself and out... but anyway. I love it. The follow up email sealed the drama deal because it just... was, well a great addition. So good for you BioWare for like hiring some romance writers in there or consultants or what have you.

Endgame chip ins: Believe it or not, Garrus does say something. My first playthrough, when Garrus was my pick1 with Jacob as pick2, when I look like I'm considering saving the base for Cerberus, Garrus piped in with something along the lines of it'd be a shame that all those colonists would have sacrificed themselves to this thing for nothing. Renegade option. I saved the base. Garrus gave me the tip to the side I needed.

Granted, since then I've blown the base to smitherins. I like that option more, because his after SM conversation makes him regret me making the save the base decision. I got the siha comment from Thane when I brought him (and was romancing him) in my 2nd playthrough. It was something along the lines of this is a great darkness er some such. But I did notice that if you're romancing someone else and have gone all the way with that romance, you can still get Thane to call you Siha... he just never explains what the term is. Ticked me off, I was like WTF DOES IT MEEEEEEAN?! (Also ticks me off because I was like... wait... are you hitting on me?! Garrus! Punch him! ) Hehe.

Psh, Garrus is a survival hunter. Hands down. He don't need no stinkin' pet. XD

(I miss mah priest -.-)

Annnnnd I think that catches me up? Yes? OMG time to go out and be social /wrists.

I don't think giving Shepard a pet name would be in-character for Garrus either. I could maybe see him calling her "dear" sarcastically if he was trying to make a particular point in a snarky manner, but nothing cutesy or romantic that he would use on a regular basis. I'm a sucker for sweet romantic things but even I wouldn't want that, haha.

I'm not even sure Thane's "siha" can be considered a pet name considering the fact that he calls you that regardless of whether you romance him or not. I'm sure the only reason he doesn't call male Shepard "siha" is because siha is the name of a goddess, not a god.

Still, there are ways to acknowledge relationship status without the use of pet names. I hope the love interests get a little more attention in ME3.

Yeah, no.  Though I could see the occasional, "baby," in an awkward sort of way after researching human courtship customs, but definitely NOT before or during a battle.

I also think pet names would seem odd for Shepard and Garrus. It might have been nice if Garrus commented about Shepard trusting him as a squad leader after they defeated the Collectors, but it would be kind of out of place during the mission - silent acknowledgement and getting the job done just fits them better, in my opinion. :)

My Shepards had a wide range of reactions to Kaidan/Ashley on Horizon, but the two that actually romanced them were obviously upset by it. If Kaidan/Ashley had been assumed dead for two years and was then revealed to be alive, they would have been a lot happier about it. Sure, they would have questioned them about working with Cerberus, but they would have at least given them a chance to explain themselves because they would have known there had to be a reason behind it.

As for the ones that didn't romance them... some are angry because they used to be friends (some don't even want to be friends anymore), and one never thought of them as friends in the first place so she doesn't care. My poor evil Shepard (not Renegade, this guy is evil) didn't get his preferred "You're either with me or against me" option of a headshot. xD That would make for an amusing conversation afterwards with TIM and the crew.

I'm making some of my Shepards into characters for Dragon Age: Origins. :D My first one was a Vanguard in ME, and now he's a Warrior (Berserker/Champion).
