What are some of your opinions on the several (thousand) fn fics out there with Mr. vakarian in them?
I am only keeping up with one. (If you need me - by Thessali)
Has anyone else been keeping up with her work?

Reptilian Rob- I read your post and -almost- had to get the torches. But then I took in the context and...you are safe. *nod*
I have my 3 fanfics but have been a little too preoccupied with my current playthrough to write more. Speaking of which.....I keep trying to get my butt to Virmire, but it's always...."One more mission. Okay, this mission comes into play in ME2. Now this other one....okay, just one more, I swear."
Garrusgarrusgarrus. Of course.

I just finished reading Interregnum and thought it was really excellent. It centers around Garrus's time between ME1 and ME2. Very pulpy not a bit of fluff in site. I love it.
Of course I have to add just a little shameless self promotion--just posted the last chapter of Convergence last night.

This. Or really short fics.
Why? Because those fics tend to keep the personalization of Shepard to a minimum. Longer stories pretty much need to give Shepard a defining personality in order to be successful, but I don't really enjoy reading stories about
Shepard and Garrus if it's not my Shepard. I've got nothin' against those fics, I just prefer not to read them.

This is actually exactly why I couldn't get into If You Need Me which MidnightSG mentioned above, even though it's fairly good. Even a lot of the smutty ones I find jarringly out of character because I have my own personal Shepard pretty well defined in my head.

I usually just kind of ignore anything that doesn't match my Shep or mentally replace it with what does, both physically and her background. That and I generally skip the parts that don't include Garrus. If I had all of the time in the world, I'd probably sit down and read through all of the stories fully, but I've got too much going on in real life to miss the good Garrus bits due to trying to read everything.

I come back and what's this talk about a 'special' folder? *smiles* Someone hook a girl up.
THE FOLDER.
I did not compile it. It is virus-free according to my avira antivirus (best free antivirus available, three years in a row BTW). If the person who compiled it wants to say so I'm all for giving credit where it's due!
www.mediafire.com/
It is zipped, so winrar or some other unzipping (how. appropriate.) program must be used. Some of the images are just fun cute fan stuff. Some are tastefully erotic. I have not yet had a chance to peruse the text files.

Probably the best, especially for Garrus, is to include him only in passing. Enough to get the character, small enough not to break any "canon" or whatever it's called.
Sorry, I only wrote Garrus once (twice now,) in this post.

I come back from early DND night, and everyone's all excited about my folder! I didn't link it directly earlier since I'm never sure what the exact rating of these forums is supposed to be (forums for an M-rated game, where you must have purchased the M-rated game in order to post, and yet there's a swearing filter strict enough where you can't quote the actual game that you must be an adult to purchase) and I didn't want the thread to catch any flak. Well, enjoy, people!>implying that video games are my favorite video gamesRay Joel Oh wrote...

Er, right, but regardless, when I can come across a good portrayal of Garrus... those are the ones I remember. There's one by Phoenike over at FF.net called Strange Bedfellows that I loooooove... but it's a tad M... (and hot to trot) but I felt they stepped into Garrus nicely.
Then there's the masskink lj that I can't get enough of. Some of those stories are so damn FUNNY. But not for the faint of heart, and not many of Garrus.

There's more of him than of any other character.
Well, except Femshep.
Possible favorite from there is Blasto/Elcor Specter/Asari Bartender

Personally I like The Difference Between, mainly because there's something else going on besides the romance that isn't just rewriting ME2. (Don't get me wrong, that could be done well, but frankly I've seen it too many times, and well... I've already played the game, so I'm less interested in fics that do that.) The actual romance parts are written pretty well too.
Yeah, I've been hoping that one would be updated. I've been craving more plot-oriented fic (not retellings of ME1 or 2) with garrusmance as more of a subplot. Modus Operandi was another one I really liked. One of the factors I actually discriminate with now is how often and how thoroughly they quote the game.. because I've played the game three times, I don't really want an exact retelling again.
I'm totally okay with getting into the heads of other Sheps though, so long as they aren't hugely different (I won't read turbo-renegade stuff, since my character was mostly paragon). I definitely prefer it when they don't mention a name or physical description, but it's not a deal breaker.

Cool story: I finally got around to playing the RtO DLC for Dragon Age and pre-purchased the Awakenings Expansion. While I was playing Dragon Age, a friend messaged me through Steam saying something like, "So...finally left Garrus and came crawling back to Alistair, eh?"
To which I respond "Alistair may be King of Ferelden, but Garrus rules my heart."
Then we both typed "XD"
But I'm sure in real life we both groaned.

Eeeeexactly this! Been there, done that, on my fourth playthrough.
Though, I think part of the reason I keep browsing fics is because I need a new ME fix. DLC can't come fast enough.
