I'd really like it but...there is going to be some creative manuevering involved considering that he wants to kill Sidonis outright regardless of how you mentored him. Still, he could remember your words from ME1 in ME3 or something. Just think that they'll give him some more justification rather than him doing a 360 if you paragon mentored him.

I think they could pull it off. If they're going to do right by their fans and "go crazy" with Mass Effect 3, they better be willing to go the mileage with these characters. ...Really, as long as they give Garrus (and Tali - stop cleaning those engines and talk to me, dangit) more dialogue, I'd be happy. If there is specific dialogue related to his influence, however, I'd be SUPER happy.

Oh, they damn better go crazy. I did read from a Bioware interview that they intend to do just that, though, so I'm rather hopeful. ME3 is the last of the trilogy, they can go all out and have tons of branching subplots without worrying about importing to ME4 or something. We also need closure in light of it being the third and last of Shepard's games, which includes Garrus' mentoring IMO. I also hope we can fix Garrus' wounds from the fight on Omega.

I also wonder how Garrus fans want the romance to conclude in ME3. From what I've seen so far traveling with him taking down mercs and criminals seems to be the most popular - basically a vigilante or crime fighting duo (batman and batwoman??).

Why do you want to get rid of garrus' scars? the scars gives him maturity and shows us his troubled emotions, I for one think the scars make garrus the garrus he is today

Garrus makes Garrus what he is. Although they make him look badass, the effect will eventually wear away and it stands to reason as least from my perspective that he'll want to get them healed eventually anyway.

I'm pretty hopeful, too. I really hope they aren't too worried about disc space and go all out on it.

You know, I'm kind of divided on fixing Garrus' scars. When I first played through Mass Effect 2, the only reason I ever considered getting the med-bay upgrade in the first place was because I wondered if it could help Garrus at all.

But now...now I must know if Wrex will ever comment on Garrus' manly man toughness scars. So for now, they're staying until I know for sure that Wrex/Ash/Liara/Tali will never ever comment on them. There's still hope. Just like how there's still hope that Liara will give up her Shadow Broker obsession and join my Shepard in the fight with the Collectors like good old times.

I'm not sure how I'd want the Garrus romance to end. Crime fighting in wedding armor sets would crack me up, though. Honeymoon? Go to Omega and kill a lot of mercs. Anniversary? Go to Omega and kill more mercs than you did last year. Nothing says romance like spilling a little merc blood.

Seriously, though, I'd love to see Garrus and my Fem!Shep have more physical contact in Mass Effect 3. More arm touching, face touching, head bumping, etc. More physical contact with party members that aren't LIs would be great, too. I'm going to have my Fem!Shep give Jack a paragon hug someday, and she is going to like it.

Not sure if they'll comment on the scars since technically you can take Garrus along with you to meet Kaidan/Ashley/Liara and Wrex in ME2 already.

And it's not exactly like we get much party banter at all...We did have Mordin if you romanced someone though, that was great. But I'd like some more input from other squad mates - so it feels more like a relationship than just knocking boots. The romance poll I made on this very subject had "other characters recognizing your romance" as the top choice.

As for Liara, I see Shepard as helping her with the Shadow Broker and thus after recruiting Liara - or Liara joining partly so she can have help against the Broker. But we'll see.

I purchased one of Bioware's N7 hoodies and have not regretted it. They are superbly crafted, comfortable, and cost the same (if not less) than most name-brand hoodies I see in stores today. Definitely worth every penny.

Are you, by any chance, a girl?  Posted Image  I've been dying to get one of those N7 hoodies, but I'm petite and the sizes (as far as I can tell) are scaled to men.  Anyone have any idea if I'd be safe purchasing the smallest size??

On a similar merchandise note: anyone know when the Garrus doll is goign to be made available?  And can you just buy Garrus, or do you have to buy the 4-character set??

Seconding the vote to get a small. I'm pretty broad in the shoulders so I went for a medium, but definitely should have gone for a small. If you're really petite it'll probably still be loose, but they're really comfy anyway.

You can buy the action figures as part of a set for, I think, 17.99 each, or ~60 bucks for all four. The first ones (Tali, Sheploo, Thane, Grunt) are coming out in August, the second wave (Garrus, Legion, Mordin, Miranda) closer to Christmas. I'm gonna need to buy 75% of that second round >_>

Silt, that hoodie? AWESOME. Any hope you can post your patterns/tutorial? I'm...trying to learn how to sew, though I kind of ended up darning any holes into submission by pure volume of stitches rather than any skill. I need to have a cape sewn by April...

Yep, I would like for the party members to recognize your romance, I mean fraternization would make a great convo in the dining table.

As for Liara i think she's too obsessed with taking down the shadow broker and would not be able to focus on defeating the reapers, her feeling for revenge compromised her WAAAYYY too much, I just hope garrus doesnt become like Liara in ME 3 (provided that he survived ME 2)

It...it could happen! Just like post-suicide mission dialogue for all LIs who aren't Jacob could happen. *has hope!*

More party banter do want. Garrus and Tali's exchange on the Citadel was great. We need more moments like that in Mass Effect 3. ...Also partial to stuff like Garrus' comment in response to Mordin's observation on Mordin's loyalty mission. Oh, and if they recognized your romance like Mordin did--yes. I'll take any more advice tapes Mordin has with gusto and would be ridiculously interested to hear what other people have to say.

I hope Liara joins Shepard again. After seeing some cut content regarding the Shadow Broker though, it seems a little less likely that she would. In said video, Liara kills the Shadow Broker and still refuses to join Shepard's mission against the Collectors. She says she has to take care of loose ends with the Shadow Broker's agents, and she has to go through the Shadow Broker's information. I'm kind of hoping that concept was scrapped (because my Fem!Shep needs the team back together again), but it'd make more sense for her to avoid joining Shepard to take care of said loose ends. ...Then again, she could take care of them faster if she were rollin' with Shepard. A little pew pewin' and all of the loose ends will be taken care of!

Random amusing thought time!

Imagine if Shepard had a mother who wasn't a career woman like SpacerMum:

Shepard: Uh, mum, I have to tell you something. I'm seeing someone.
ShepMum: Is it that nice Alenko boy? I was wondering when you'd settle down.
Shepard: No, it's not Kaidan. It's Garrus.
ShepMum: Wait, what? The turian?
Shepard: Yes.
ShepMum: …:o

Later...

ShepMum: So I guess this means I won't be getting any grandchildren.
Shepard: Uh, that's the other thing I need to tell you. I've kindof...adopted. Meet Grunt.
ShepMum: *faints*

And with that, I'm off to bed. Dream Garrus-y dreams everyone!

A little late (damn Earth and its timezones), but THANKS soo much for the magic folder.

And I looooove the Garrus loyalty hoodie, siltsonata!

More dialogue: Yes.

Ehm... so many things I wanted to comment on, but I'm a little distracted. *ahem*

I'm 5'2", and my N7 hoodie (small) comes down to my upper leg when pulled down all the way. It is kinda big, but frankly it's the most comfortable and warm hoodie I've ever worn, so I don't even care! :D

Don't know when exactly the second wave of figures is coming, but the first one is already taking preorders. Can't imagine Garrus is far behind.

So since we'd all like to marry Garrus... how would you like to get kids with him?

Uhh... I already have a baby and his name is Grunt. Raising a krogan is hard enough. Don't know how he will react to Garrus being his 'father' though... :P

So, I'm not the only who felt like she'd adopted a teenaged krogan along the way?  Good.

---eek I am *wayyyyy* behind in here, I wonder if i can get through all 15 pages by the end of my class haha.  mega-catch up posts ahead.  I too unexpectedly grew to feel like Grunt is my little baby after a few playthroughs (not so much on the first one but he really grew on me).  I find it so amusing that Grunt's character has brought out the maternal instinct in so many female players, l-o-l.  I wonder what the devs think of this phenomenon?  Never would have expected that from the thresher maw trailer.  But then Thane doesn't seem sensitive and romantic in the trailers either.

---quarians as missing link b/t humans and turians: you know, I know that was mostly a joke, but when you think about it, it's really kind of true. I mean as far as their body shapes go.  Their faces, who knows.  But I definitely don't imagine them having long flowing hair and elf ears like so many Talimancer fanartists.  I tend to imagine them with skin about the color of their suits --, so Tali is purple, Kal'Reegar is red, unspecial NPCs are browns, blacks, greys.  I also imagine their skin color to be dark, not pastel, so their glowing eyes really stand out.

--Shep/Garrus children:  this topic has been put through the wringer a few times in here, but gonna throw my .02 in again.  I think people shouldn't ridicule those who think the two could/would/should have kids, and vice versa.  People can imagine whatever they want, there is always a way to make it "make sense" if you're a good enough writer.  I hope -- and expect -- Bioware to leave it completely openended.  Personally, I don't think Shepard's military career precludes her from wanting, or having, children someday.  Spacer Shep's mom is a captain in the alliance.  Obviously there are lots of military space brats running around.  Furthermore, it's equally reasonable to imagine her basically "retiring" or going part-time on traipsing around the galaxy shooting things once the reapers are defeated.  Perhaps after saving the galaxy, Shepard will take a much deserved break (plus it's hard to top that career highlight).  Maybe once the kids are in school she can get back to righting wrongs and doing justice ;).  Also, I love the idea of her and Garrus adopting an Earth orphan and a Palaven orphan.

---When I realized Garrus was teh awesome: Not totally sure, like some others posted, it wasn't immediate.  It was some time during my 3rd or so playthrough when I realized that even though I was skipping through everyone else's dialogue or not talking to them at all, first thing after every mission I was still booking it down to the mako to talk to Garrus.  I still never seriously entertained the idea of a romance though, because I was so convinced it would never happen.

OK well this is not going very quickly lol.  Gonna post this one so it doesn't get too long.

Just want to go back to the fanfic issue. I write it for myself. If anyone happens to read it and like it, so be it. But I write details and personality into my Shepard because I do play each of them differently. They make the same decisions with the big events (they've all spared the Rachni), but it's how they act toward their team and the rest of the NPCs that matters. I'm also writing in a first person POV since I don't want to try to get into Garrus' head and screw it up. I'd have to replay ME1 AGAIN with a greater eye toward his character than I've had before.

And what I am writing right now is a partial replay. I think a Sole Survivor Shepard would have a pretty big reaction to Grunt's loyalty mission, for example. And I really don't think any of the LI's would be comfortable with Samara's mission. And you can't write about Garrus' romance without the Sidonis confrontation.

And lastly, I write Meghan Shepard because she's a pushy **** who won't shut up and because she's a prototype character. I'm using her to evolve a character in my own work.

I do like "If You Need Me," and a few other fics. I've favorited most of the ones I liked.

Well, *cough* I'm actually a teenage male, even if all my posts so far might seem like a stereotypical Garrus fanwoman. Not exactly the most comforting thought to you all, I know. If it makes you feel better just pretend I'm a fangirl. Doesn't affect me too much.

--on males who read/visit this thread -- there's no doubt it's majority women in here but I hope no guys who visit think that is because they are not wanted!  I guess it's just naturally there b/c G is a female LI and the gushing fangirls I guess can be intimidating to some guys who don't really wanna participate in that.  But I'm sure all would agree this thread is welcoming to EVERYone who wants to express love -- romantic or  bromantic -- for Garrus!  If you guys want to have discussions that aren't about hybrid children and sexy scars, by all means start them! :D

Honestly gender should not matter even for a love thread.  Because you can have your opposite-gender Shepard "love" the LI all the same.  I mean, if the Tali thread weren't so scary and ridiculous, I'd probably post there, because I like Tali and she's my galpal.

aynxalot wrote...

Also, there's a turian you run into on Omega- the lower part of
Afterlife where the batarian bartender poisons you. The turian in
question mentions having a "mate". One he apparently didn't really feel
like bringing along to Omega. It strikes me that turians may well not
really get 'married' in that sense. And it always made more sense to me
that FemShep and Garrus wouldn't feel a really powerful need to bother
with ceremonies or anything, especially with their vastly different
cultures.

Hm. I keep seeing people brining up that Omega turian as evidence turians don't marry.  I don't think we can make such broad assumptions based on one individual.  What if the one human another species heard talking about relationships was a strict conservative monogamist?  To assume therefore all humans are exclusively monogamous would be incorrect.  Also, I don't think the word "mate" necessarily equals "partner who is not a wife."  It could be semantics.  The turian word for "mate" could mean someone else who that individual takes a vow to and lives with and has children with and the relationship is socially sanctioned -- i.e......marriage.

Also, to me, turian culture is not so "vastly different" from human.  It depends on which human culture you're talking about! :P The codex says turians adopted some human religions.  They reminded me of the Romans before I knew they were based on Romans, which means they had noticeable similarities  They have similar lifespans, varied occupations, a similar if more risk-averse military...really to me, their appearance is the most different thing about them, not culture. Especially when you compare to hanar or even salarians and asari.

Still so behind...

Well, it's NOT going to be vastly different from human. They're a "civilized warlike" species like us. Unlike the krogan and the batarians, the turians and humans can at least be diplomatic. The krogan are learning, though.

I....I can't decide how I feel about this.  The armor looks great, but it doesn't have much blue in it.  Blue will always be Garrus's color for me.  Silver is a nice second place though.  Also, I mean....the giant gunship hole is like a "battle scar" of its own.  It screams BADASS everytime you see him.

Hmm. I think a good solution will be to let him wear the damaged armor until his loyalty mission and then switch out, pretending they finally had time to get it fixed. Or, let  him wear it as a badge of armor  until the suicide mission, at which point Shepard INSISTS he not go into the collector base with cracked armor.

Also, the new Thane outfit should just be "no shirt."  Lol. MORE clothes for Jack, LESS clothes for Thane.  Good plan.

Also, what team does everybody use the most for missions? Unless you
don't use Garrus, I don't think the third needs to be specified. I
think I'm going to use Miranda more, after finding out how she screws
the Illusive Man over in the end. [/quote]

My usual battle team:  Garrus +....well, if it's a tough one, I bring Miranda, but only for her abilities.  I wish she weren't so useful, because her dialogue bores me. Otherwise, Grunt, or Tali/Legion except she dies so easily. Honestly, I haven't found a truly good complement to a Garrus/Vanguard team.  Kind of sad.

Also, some of you guys sure do have a black and white view of marriage.  "settling down" and "fairy tale ending." Sheesh, not necessarily.  Maybe they'll just do it for the tax benefits, lol.  Marriage is in many ways economic, or a social statement to the rest of society.  There are plenty of "active" married couples. Shep/Garrus getting married wouldn't spell the end of their lives of adventure.

Yeah, all good points.  The intensity of their eyes.  And your last point, about military society.  That is really attractive to me for some reason.  It makes them subconsciously seem...I dunno...mature, reliable, strong, competent, honorable.  Even if individual ones can be scumbags.  They have to showme they are scumbags.

Also @ Nissun your post about differeng Shepard classes wearing different colors: I do that too, except based on where she's visiting (play vanguard 90% of the time anyway).  So,

      -blue/black/white on Garrus's mission;
      -gold or burnished orange on sunset Illium, Thane/Samara;
      -red on Tuchanka,
      -that weird iridescent blue/purple/violet one for Morinth/Legion missions;
