Also, marriage is fine with me. Like others said, it doesn't have to be a big ceremony...and, well, why NOT? I'm sure it'd come with some benefits worth having. Perhaps at the end of the game your love interest will ask you if you have anything specific in mind for the future, sort of a "Well we've finished saving the galaxy. Again. ...What now?" scenario and then you get to tell them a number of things, and that determines what ending you get with your LI.

Sounds like a great idea!

Of course that'd only work if the epilogue was text-based ala DA:O (though hopefully much less buggy). BioWare isn't going to write and animate full scenes for every possible ending.

How do you know? Bioware has animating plenty of stuff that they didn't need to. If you look at ME1 and then ME2, characters are much more animated than they were before. Including the Garrus romance, there is more body langauge involved.

Yes the change between games is so different. In ME1 he felt like a subordinate in ME2 he feels like an equal, plus Shepard doesn't scold him every time he wanted to do something renegade. I'm glad they didn't put that part where Shepard grabbed Garrus from his collarbone and scolded him because he didn't want to follow orders. Now that is how much of an ass a renegade can be.

Doesn't really seem a-holeish to me. Aggressive, sure. But if someone disobeys direct orders then they shouldn't be surprised if they get reprimanded for it. Plus, in that situation Garrus wanted to sacrifice innocents in order to get the job done faster. Even my paragon would have been harsh to him for that.

Hes alot more different in me2 though. Seems like some of shepards paragonish attitude may have caught up to him a little bit. He was trying to be like shepard on omega after all.

If they give us several possible endings with each love interest, do you have any idea how long it would take to make full scenes for all of them? The scripts they'd have to write for all of them, the cinematography, the voice acting, the animation, etc? Plus, considering how many Normandy conversations we got out of most of the romanceable squadmates in ME2 (depressingly few), BioWare doesn't seem too keen on writing more dialogue than they have to. Sure, we got romances which are completely optional, but of course they aren't going to take out a fan favorite aspect of the series.

I would love to be proven wrong when ME3 finally rolls around, but I just can't see them devoting that much time and effort into the romance endings. I'm betting we'll either only have one possible ending for each LI or we'll have several possible endings, but they'll be text-only.

You're right about the civilians, however I doubt that's how a paragon Shepard would have handled it and besides we all know BioWare likes to show renegades in the promotional videos. It happened with ME1 and ME2, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens in ME3. I'm guessing that scolding Garrus like that must have been the renegade option.

We've no idea how brief or long they would be. The suicide mission has plenty of variables for each teammate dying. Each romance scene in ME2 is unique despite the fact that they could have more of them the same way as ME1 handled it.

Who knows. Just saying that it's not beyond Bioware's ability.

Curse you Flammie, you have reawakened an old obsession of mine. You mentioned that you think you're the youngest here, I've always liked comparing ages in chats and stuff so now I'm curious. What is the age of an average Garrus fan? I'm 18.

If you're not comfortable releasing your age on the internet then I'm sorry if this question seems intrusive, I'm fine with giving out my age but I will never give out my first name.

On the late train here, bleh for real life! I'm 25 :).

Garrus needs an awesome metal theme song. Anyone care to pitch in any ideas?

In the end, BW seems to want to make its fans happy- but I don't think they're about to go out of their way to make certain every single Garrus-related fantasy is represented. :/ (Which makes me a sad panda who wishes they were an eccentric billionaire who could throw money at them and say "I need more cowb- er, Garrus!")

In the end, though, I think we were all pretty happy with the romance they gave us (with the only real thing we would have changed is making it a little longer). I think one ending, done right, will be plenty enough to satisfy (hee!) all our many, various Garrus cravings.

I mean, we shouldn't worry about not getting closure at all. Wrex and Kaidan/Ash could die in ME1, but they still did scenes for them in ME2. Their sequel roles had to be limited for logistical reasons that won't exist in ME3. I personally expect to be at least content with what happens, if not pleasantly surprised.

Garrus and moar Garrus topped with some Garrus sauce. Mmmmm.

or Perfection or Vanity by Dimmu Borgir

Puritania by Dimmu Borgir is a good general Mass Effect song.  COUNTDOWN TO EXTERMINATE THE HUMAN RACE.

I think the Garrus romance was put into the game because of threads like this--BioWare knew we would collectively lynch them if they didn't. (I can see them all sitting around a table scrambling to find a way to work a Garrus romance into the game so as not to tick off everyone on these types of threads, LOL

"We have to put him in as a romanceable character! Did you see that fanbase? They'll publicly crucify us if we don't put this in!"

"Yeah, but come on...seriously, how can we implement this?"

"*sigh* It's gonna be a long night...Unpaid intern! More coffee!!"

(yes I'm sure this has been addressed on these boards already, but I was staying away for months so as not to encounter any spoilers, so please humor my late-ass comments)

and also btw I think that's why we were allowed aboard the Migrant Fleet. BioWare listens to its fans!!

@Tootles - I'm a medium womens/small mens in t-shirts, and the small hoodie is HUGE on me. It's really baggy and the sleeves cover my hands completely! there is a gap between the end of the stripe and the cuff, though, so it can be altered without messing with the design.

Daaaamn.  Then nevermind - I'll hold off until they come out with something in women's sizes.  Thanks for the response.  ^.^

I have nothing but positive feelings about Garrus in ME3.  Casey Hudson has repeatedly stated that they have no more constraints on plots/characters since nothing is being carried over into an ME4 - I think it's entirely possible that they invest the time (and money) to really delve into all of the numerous LI and plot-related outcomes.  It'll be like their Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and I doubt they want to slack off on their grand finale.

Throwing out a topic of conversation: Garrus's parents have been mentioned before (PAPA VAKARIAN FOR ME3, WOOTZ!), but has anyone thought whether or not Garrus has any siblings?  For some reason I find the idea of FemShep being introduced to a younger & big bro-worshipping brother appealing.

I lol'd at "unpaid intern".

I do often wonder what the initial reaction was to finding out that the female fanbase loved Garrus so much.

Dev A: Hey so, uh, I've been reading the forums and it appears as though many of our female fans have the hots for Garrus.

Dev B: Garrus? Seriously? ...Garrus?

Dev A: Seriously. Apparently it's the voice? Anyway, they want him to be a love interest.

Dev B: What? But he's so...I mean. Just look at him.

Dev A: Yeah.

Dev B: I will never understand women.

If they thought no one would want to romance Tali because of her "chicken feet", imagine their surprise at Garrus' popularity with the ladies. :P

LOL!!

But seriously, do you think that Brandon Keener has ever realized what a hold his character (or at least his voice) has over so many?

I once read a post on the BioWare forums from waaay back that said she would marry BK sight-unseen, just because of his voice...and I've gotta say, there's an argument to be made, there. ;)

so does he acknowledge that, in the dark anyway, most women polled would consent to be his love-slave??
