Methinks Bioware might be running low on new planet names so they're plucking random words out of Physics textbook glossaries...

Also, Thane's new sunglasses look ridiculous.

Garrus.

edit for spelling...words are hard.

Also, that pic in the folder labeled "it's 180 light years to omega, we've got a full tank of eezo, half a clip of ammo, it's dark, and we're wearing visors" can now be changed to "sunglasses" B).

Also, this pic I'd never seen before was  in the magic folder and raised a lotta questions.  Don't worry it's safe.

The page of the book says "ME2 Concept art" yet clearly this was made pre-ME1.  Is this just old concept art that they put in a book that came with ME2 and that's why it says that?  I mean clearly it was painted pre ME1 but when was it released?

Just interesting to me because it shows they had already planned ahead that he would have his face blasted off way back then.  Not that it surprises me they would plan ahead, since it was all "conceived as a trilogy" that would be the smart thing to do.  I just always wondered to what degree they planned #2 and #3 back in the early stages.  Like clearly the reaper story would have to be all worked out, but they didn't know how successful the franchise would be or which characters would be favorites so seems like they would leave some stuff open.

Also interesting is that his face bandage in this pic is almost exactly what they went with.  This pic is probably 5-6 years old at this point.

Lastly is it almost a little...unnerving to some of you guys looking at this picture? He looks so much more human.  In the old thread we were talking for a while about what Garrus would look like if he were human.  It's weird, it's like his human ghost under his face or something.  I'm glad they changed it

EDIT: AND I just noticed it also has his loyalty armor almost exactly the same.  They even planned out stylistic changes in armor that early?  Or IS this actual ME2 concept art (made after ME1) and this artist just realllllly can't do Garrus's face?

Edit: Ah, I see it has been officially announced that we're getting the 3 alternate outfit pack on the 26th, then Kasumi on April 6th. I was wrong- Thane in shades looks like kind of a tool.

Did you notice that on the bioware site decribing the alternate comtume pack, it claims that this is alternate armor for our three favorite squadmates? I think that this might mean that these are the three squadmates used the most, hence why it's only these three. Also, Garrus's picture is on top, does this mean what I think it means?

Anything-stein is now premanently associated with Mel Brooks for me. Think it's Beken'sty'n or Beken'shteen'?

I love Garrus's new armour, glowy bits and all (especially the orange! I love orange ^_^), and the glasses for the other two don't bother me too much...although, Thane kinda already looked like he was wearing sunglasses, so maybe I'm used to it.

Yeah, they already name most of the turian planets after Latin words whose meanings often relate to the planet or its history...yes yes turians are based on Roman culture but it would make no sense for the turians' language to literally be Latin. <_<  They could have changed the words a little bit like they do with the names.  Invicten instead of Invictus or something.  But it's probably some poor intern making all those planets anyway.  Working at Bioware would be awesome but even I would get bored with that after a while....

I like Garrus's new headpiece. Orange is fine.

I still don't like the brownish parts of his suit. Even though his body under the suit is probably not that brownish colour, it looks like he's wearing overknee-high boots, briefs and a top that's too short. :?

How can you tell this is pre-ME1?  Is it the art-style?  I'm not sure if I'm just missing something.  I could have sworn reading that Garrus as a squadmate wasn't even set in stone until ME2 was already in development and the only thing originally planned for the trilogy was the general story arc.

That picture is a little disturbing.  A little to umm 'real'?  Humanoid?  Either way, I hope to never see a Mass Effect live action movie.  Yeah, I think I just picked up on what's so creepy about it.  He's flesh colored.  Ick.

Huh?  Garrus obviously is the most used squadmate because he's useful and both guys and girls like him.  Thane I think gets used a decent amount because girls like him, and guys like his skills if not him.  But Jack, seriously?  She's not a good compliment to every class the way some other characters are (such as GARRUS).  I can't see her being used more than say, Miranda, based on abilities alone.  I know I grudgingly bring Miranda all the time, especially on my current insanity playthrough.  And I see a lot of people on forums say they use Legion a lot, and Grunt.  Jack doesn't exactly have a gigantic love thread.  I think they are full of it and just try to give her good PR because she needs it lol.

@ ELE08 yeah I edited original post to say I realized (after noticing his loyalty armor) that maybe it WAS ME2 concept art and the artist just fed up Garrus's face really bad. Which is still odd to me. But that's why I was posting it....it was confusing and I thought maybe someone would know something.

doube post.  which i will convert into clarification that I assumed it was ollllld concept art because his face was so different.  Like from back before they decided on a final appearance.

Popularity aside, Jack was definitely the squadmate most in need of additional clothing.  I don't think they meant our favorite squadmates literally.  Although clearly Garrus is the winner.  Clearly.

Jack is actually a Vanguard. Same as Jacob. Vanguards, I've noticed are difficult as hell for an NPC character to be used effectively. The AI just can't deal.

Vanguards are only useful if you're playing one.

It's ME2 concept art. That's just how the artist draws Garrus--he looks similar in the lithograph that was sold awhile back.

I agree, they only use their powers once in a while. It's a lot more effective to be a vanguard yourself instead of having the AIs being one.

Aha!  Thanks for educating me on that :)
(although I stand my ground that "Bekenstein" is an unfortunate planet name, to say the least...lols to the poster who brought up Mel Brooks in connection with it!)

And so that I mention Garrus in this post, they should name a planet after him.  "Vakarian" sounds a lot better than "Bekenstein", or am I wrong? ^_^

Vakarian is a vast improvement.  I would visit the hell out of that planet.

Planet Vakarian would have to be blue and black, I suppose, with a big canyon carved across one side of it by a massive laser or something :P

I very, very rarely use someone other than Garrus. On loyalty missions, it's Garrus + whomever the mission is for. Every other mission that comes up, I pick Garrus and then strategize about who else to bring. Tali gets picked a lot once I have her. =^_^=

ELE08: I feel compelled to inform you that my otherwise Paragon Shepard shot Conrad Verner in the foot. I LOL'd. "Let me make this perfectly clear..." Just so deadpan. Then the shoots him. Epic.

Verner's bugged, I think. Your Shepard will shoot him no matter how you treated him in ME1.

Also, I love that Garrus concept art up there. I can't get it out of my head that he's going :3

I've never shot him.  And I honestly think the "Waving your gun in his face," was a reference to that pic he snapped of you.

Oh Conrad.  I'm a man on the edge!  I've got nothing to lose!  He does react to you the same way regardless of if you were paragon or renegade to him in ME1.  Hmm, I never considered the 'waving your gun in his face' comment as referencing the pic, assumed it was regarding the renegade intimidate option 'this is what a gun in face feels like!'  I dunno if it's a bug as I always intimidate him in ME1.  Paragon Shepard, but I can't help but crush his little dreams.  It just feels so good.
