Alright now I'm curious, what parts remind you of Jewish, Russian, and Chinese cultures?
Have no idea about Russian (maybe it's the accent I guess) and Chinese cultures, but apparently some/one of the star systems/planets/sayings are similar to stuff in Jewish history/culture. I want to say Raheel-Leyya and Micah as examples but I'm not sure about the former.
@Hyrule_Gal - Ha! That's perfect XD But...if Thane didn't have that baggage, he'd have to be really interesting for me to want to Romance him. For me, he isn't even a useful squadmate.
Meh. Bioware did it right when it came to romancing an assasin...Zevran. He also had baggage but he wasn't tragic. That and his "Pirate Zevran reporting for duty! Prepare to be boarded!" line was PRO.
The thing Thane lacked was humor. I want a man who I can laugh with. Garrus made me laugh many times, while Thane only made me giggle once ("Be still Mouse, you can change your pants in a moment"). The way he talks about everything is depressing. He isn't exactly someone I want to come home to after a hard day of work.
"Thane, I'm home!"
"Welcome back, Siha. Three months, thirteen days and seven hours left 'til my death."
":pinched:"
Maybe he just needs to loosen up, but still... I'm sticking with Garrus.

Zevran was an amoral scoundrel. At least Thane is more of a gentleman. Zevran just tried to kill you and tells you about how he's had sex with people and killed them immediately after and could kill you during sex at any time but yea he's flirting with you and wants you to come to bed ...wat

Take Thane with you on Samara's recruitment mission and he wishes the Biotic God a restful sleep and dreams of many bulbous women.
What was that line, I happened to have Garrus with me at the time, but I don't think it was required...I loved the way he said it, though: the other squadmate said something like, "We're getting put in mortal danger" and Garrus said, "With Shepard, that's about twice a day." hehe!
I butchered the line completely but what was that situation? I'm only on my second playthrough and haven't run into it again, yet.

Russian - Yeah yeah, there's Tali's accent...but also, when she described how they lived on their ships. Lots of people, tiny spaces. Things like that.
Chinese - The controlling the population through birth rate thing.
There are other things, but those were the obvious ones I could remember.
Well now that everyone pointed out Thane's flaws, I think I'll stay away from him. He's too old IMO, wife, kids and has an expiring date. Besides I don't like tragic romances, well Morrigan was my favorite for Dragon Age. I don't think I know why, it must have been her yellow eyes and the fact that she was a witch. I think the only ME2 romances I like were Garrus and Tali. Tali's felt creepy with Male Shepard's voice. I even found Liara better than Tali.

when you're on Samara's recruitment mission, tell the asari officer that her superiors are giving her bad orders, or something like that.
Strange, for me it's always Garrus saying "We can disobey suicidal orders? Why wasn't I told?"

Has to do with what squad mates you bring along and likely what slot they are in.

Oh yeah, that again. I always pick Garrus first, so even though I've brought Thane on that mission, it's always Garrus's line.

Ah, yes, I saw that on Youtube. It was... unexpected. Ok, Thane made me giggle twice. If he showed more of that funny side of him, I might consider romancing him. But right now, he's just a friend.

I think he has to be the first one chosen. I always choose him first and he says it. You also need to choose him first during the sucide mission if you want to save him after the Reaper destroys the platforms and everyone falls. However he won't help you up when you jump to the ship and stay there hanging. He should though, it would be logical for him to "return the favor".
"Thane, I'm home!" "Welcome back, Siha. Three months, thirteen days and seven hours left 'til my death." ":pinched:"
*Uncomfortable silence* "What's for dinner?"
*LOL* Anyways.... the -only- thing I have to say about Garrus swinging the other way is this: "It's Okay If It's You." Almost exactly what he says to Shep about being human. I personally don't read anything into Garrus that would make me think he was bisexual, but then he himself probably has never thought about it. Like he'd never thought about being with a human. It's just way outside of the box. (Hee!) Saying "He doesn't strike me as gay (paraphrased)" is like saying "He doesn't strike me as xenophiliac." Sometimes it just takes that one person.
Moving on! I is a sad panda! I Anyway, some virus just did a number on my computer, and I lost all of the artwork I had stored on here! Especially of Garrus!

It's actually kind of screwy. For me it has always been whoever is in the second slot. Whoever was in the second slot for me both fell down and helped Shepard up into the shuttle. Dying (gameplay) switches the slot characters are in and maybe switching weapons too. So there might be the reason for the mix ups...or it's just screwy.

TWICE A DAY TWICE A DAY TWICE A DAY
Yeah, that's it, thanks! haha (And how great is Legion's response, I lol'd at that one!)

Yea, good video to see all the responses, but the TWICE A DAY line got old REAL FAST. Thane's response to that if Garrus isn't there is pretty amusing. (Something about volunteering.)
Lots of good points made about Thane's romance, but I just put his 'mance in a different catagory. Still kind of miffed that they gave him the whole, "I'm dying" and made it intergal to his character - going on a suicide mission because he's got an experiation date, going through a midlife crisis early, etc. But every once in a while, I'm in the mood for bittersweet (like atm, I'm doing a Thane play through, to get as much viddage as I can of him for this video I'm making...)
There's only so much calibrations I can take before my mind cries over the lack of Garrus's lines. Plus, I have this facination with this whole concept of the hanar being evil. I mean... think about it: 800 years ago they found the drell, brought them to Kahje, and now, after being in the Galactic community for 200 years... only NOW they're a few years into fixing Keprel's? Was this a time line fail? Or a jelly consipracy to save face?
Them jellies are EVIL... *shifty eyes*
Now for something Garrus related: I'm excited for Tuesday. Because I want to see Garrus in FIX'D ARMOR /cheer!
Do you guys think you would have liked Thane more if Bioware didn't try so hard to, I don't know...make his romance so freakin DIRE?
*snip*
Oh good lord I think I just quite literally busted a gut. XD But yeah Thane's no where near as funny and well...charming as Garrus. If he lost about 10,000lbs of baggage, yeah we could totes hang out and I could PL him on Galaxy of Fantasy and like...buy leather and stuff. But no romance. He just doesn't have that OOMPH that Garrus has.
