I don't think Keener would be creeped out by it at all, actually... xD If he was actually told what the largest amount of people responded to the question of, "why do you find Garrus attractive?" I'd bet he'd be quite flattered.
Garrus, admittedly, is not a very attractive character appearance wise by human standards. The thing that got me, at least, was the incredibly sexy voice acting. xD To be able to develop such a fandom based purely on his voice acting and his character's personality is pretty damn impressive.

I find him extremely attractive by my human standards :] What is sexy is always subjective B)

Ermm... well, what I mean to say is that a majority of people would not look at a screenshot of him (this is without knowing his name, his personality, backstory, ect... and without hearing his voice) would not get the same "Hot damn Garrus is one fine piece of ass" (sprung from a conversation between me and my friend the other day...)

I personally found Garrus very strange looking the first time I saw him in ME1. But as I got along in the game I started noticing those little things (like the mandible drooping whenever you talk smack at him... so adorable xD) that made him attractive.

I had to comment on this because it pretty much sums up the opinions my friends and I have on Garrus/turians. The first time I saw Nihlus (he is the first turian you run into after all), I thought "Ooo, nice looking alien. wonder if you can romance him"... then I heard the voice and thought "ooo, even better!", then he died and I was pissed LOL... So by the time I ran into Garrus, I was already favorably disposed towards turians... Actually, my bf made fun of me for weeks about how pissed off I got when I realized you couldn't romance Garrus LOL... His personality and voice just sealed the deal for me, really.
One of my friends, on the other hand, thought turians were creepy looking (goat-foot demon things, I believe she called them ) but then Garrus grew on her (personality/voice)... and in ME2 she was just as excited as I was that you could finally romance him.
My artsy friend thought turians were attractive in an artistic sense (something about shapes and lines and the markings etc.), but she scoffed at my romance theories... until she heard the Garrus voice. Score 3 for the ME2 Garrus romance :P

Well, prolly only funny to me... anyhoo, back to your regularly scheduled program

Hmm, in regard to end game... did anyone else destroy the Collector base despite being asked not to by Garrus? My paragon Shep was romancing him. And, yeah, he had a valid point about making those lives lost go to waste. But I couldn't help thinking, "Uh, Garrus, TIM just said he wants human galactic dominance. And Cerberus probably doesn't like turians all that well. Just sayin'. I'm not leaving this base so that they can find a way to blow up Palaven, 'cause, y'know, that would kinda be a damper on this thing you and Shepard have going."

Actually, I think that much like the first game, each party member has a positive/negative thing they can say at the final battle depending on the party makeup and position; they're supposed to be your 'advice' people there, they can't both tell you to do the same thing. My friend even claims to have had Wrex tell him to save the Council.

What's Garrus's exact line? Because I remember taking it in favor of destroying the base, wasting/dishonoring lives by giving them to TIM.

Why Garrus never watched those vids:

Kelly> Hey, Shepard, I've noticed Grunt has been off to himself a lot lately since you took him to do the Rite.  Is there something wrong with him?  He hasn't even come to the mess hall to eat.  Poor guy, I hope he's not sick.  I'd like to nurse him back to health if he is, though.

Garrus> (to Shepard) I told you we should have taken him to Omega.

Shepard> That's not the right way to do things, Garrus.  Some of us might even want him to respect women!

Garrus> Oh come on, he already respects you.  You're his battlemaster.  And probably the only thing keeping him from trying to rip my scales off.

Kelly> Shepard, but maybe you should go and have a talk with him?

Garrus> (hastily) Er, maybe I better be the one to do that.  I mean, it's...

Shepard> (eyes Garrus suspiciously) I'm going to go talk to Grunt.  I wouldn't want your scales to get torn off or anything.

Garrus> ... Okay, fine.  It's just that, er... (polite cough) Well, I'll tell you later.  I'm gonna just... yeah.  Calibrations.  You know.  (slinks off with an embarrassed expression)

Shepard> (goes to see Grunt)  Grunt?

Grunt> (rushes to hide something behind his back in the cargo bay) Shepard.

Shepard> Kelly just told me that you've been here all to yourself for the last few days.  Is something the matter?  You're not sick, are you?  Do we need to take you back to Tuchanka?

Grunt> ... Well, one of us here is sick, but it isn't me.

Shepard> What, Grunt?  ... Nevermind.  (suspiciously) What are you hiding?

Grunt> (keeps trying to hide whatever is behind him)

Shepard> (pushes grunt aside) ... A porn stash?  ... Wait, interspecies... (mortified) GARRUS!

(later)

Garrus> ... So, er, you see, he kind of just... took it.  I never saw him.

Shepard> You never saw a massive teenage krogan sneaking into the main battery.  Right.  And seriously, that was your "research?"  I take it you're the reason Mordin... Oh nevermind.  Let's just forget this ever happened.

I got Mass Effect for PC, and modded the ini so that my Shepard is Garrus. Ha ha. I might need to post some screenies of Garrus doing epic Shepard moves like the "Shepard punch."

Request: Garrus dancing. ^^

I've wanted to see that since ME1. xD Also, the krogan headbutt.

I did like Jacob as a character, but my female Shepard just stopped talking to him after a while because none of those conversation options sounded like something she would say. >_>; Are there any dialogue choices at all that don't sound flirty? I even tried the "friends" option and had to reload.

As for the consequences of "cheating" in ME3, I hope that it would only effect the three of my Shepards who actually did something to deserve those consequences. One of my Shepards stayed with his ME1 romance (Liara), most had no romance until ME2, and some still have no romance (three of them are hoping for Aria, the Illusive Man, and a krogan). Those who weren't with anyone in ME1 shouldn't be punished for those who did cheat, and I doubt they will be. I hope two of those characters who "cheated" get to explain themselves though, since they wanted to break up with their ME1 romance right there on Horizon. I don't know how that last character would explain himself even if he could... first the consort, then Liara, Miranda, and Morinth (he wasn't foolish enough to kill himself with this one though). o_o; That'll be an interesting confrontation to watch.

And I know I've said this before, but I would like Shepard to meet Garrus' father. :D That would be awesome.

Actually I also seem to recall Garrus line being in favor of destroying the base (it might be though that the wording is just so that you can interpret it either way, but I felt reaffirmed in my decision to blow it up by Garrus' words. I had him and Legion in group, though, and I don't recall Legion's line [if he had one] so maybe the combination of char's determines it? Or maybe this is the one place in the story where it matters if you've been pushing him towards paragon or renegade? Cause I pushed mine to Paragon in Me1 and didn't let him take the shot in ME2) My bf also claims his Wrex was for saving the council in ME1 (dunno who he had in group aside from Wrex) but my Wrex was against it (I had him and Garrus).

That was almost exactly my first reaction to turians. xD My Shepard would have jumped for joy when Garrus joined if that was an option (which would have seemed strange for the male Shepard I created for my first playthrough).

@Brass_Buckles: That was hilarious. xD Poor Grunt. Now I imagined a similar situation with my own Shepards...
perhaps after all of the other laugh-out-loud moments in this thread, we should all include a "don't eat or drink while reading" warning.

Shepard #2: Mordin gave me these human-turian vids, but I'm almost afraid to watch them... >///>; He didn't say if they were helpful scientific diagrams or full-on interspecies romance movies. Is that a bad sign?
Shepard #7: Don't worry, I'll watch them for you and make some nice PG-13 diagrams. :)
Shepard #2: Thanks! :D *hands over the vids*
--three hours later--
Shepard #7: I finished the diagrams! Good call on not watching the vids. ;)
Shepard #2: *looks at the diagrams, which are actually decent sketches* You're the best! :D
Joker: Incoming message from the Illusive Man. Patching it through.
Illusive Man: Shepard, we have a bit of a situation here. >_>; Miranda forwarded all of the messages in your private terminal to me like always, and... ah, there really is no good way to say this. In my haste to close out of that interspecies relations stuff you have there, I may have accidentaly... *mutters* ...sent it to everyone on the Normandy. Sorry, wrong button. *closes hologram*
Shepard #2: What?! O___O
Shepard #7: *laughs hysterically* The Illusive Man watched the vids! xD I would have paid good money to see the traumatized look on his face.
--around the Normandy--
Shepard #4: Hey, I've got a message from the Illusive Man. *watches* I, uh, think he sent this message to the wrong Shepard. o///o; I guess he wants her to "be safe" before the suicide mission.
Shepard #1: What the...? o.o; *interested stare* No, Tali, shield your eyes! D:
Shepard #3: No comment. Just... no comment.
Shepard #6: Awesome. O_O
Shepard #5: No, Illusive Man, I need the drell vids. >_>;
Shepard #8: O_O What the--?! *shoots his private terminal*
Shepard #9: I've seen this somewhere before...
Shepard #13: Huh? o///o; Well, it's from the Illusive Man, so if he wants me to watch it, I will...
Shepard #14: What?! This is an outrage! Go back, go back--! *Computerized Voice: Self-destruct sequence activated* O_O ****! >_>; *dives dramatically out of his room before it explodes*
Shepard #2: *hears the explosion* What was that?
Shepard #7: Probably the sound of someone's brain exploding because it couldn't handle that much awesome. Terribly, terribly sad.

I didn't include all of the Shepards because some of them wouldn't have had anything more to say than just a "What is that? 0_o *closes private terminal and walks away slowly*" but those are the main ones. xD I imagined all of this in comic form.

Re the attractiveness of Garrus: I think Garrus looks interesting but not necessarily "hot" by my end of human standards. His voice is what caught me. I was sketching and thus not looking up as I went around the Presidium (thus ran into things for a long time before realizing I wasn't going anywhere) but when the cutscene triggered with Garrus, I looked up like, "Whozzat?" After that, his attitude and personality was pleasant.

However, I'm not really the person to base things off of. I take an interest in people because of their voice, the sound of their laughter, and how they behave. From those, I come to ignore physical unattractiveness or modify my perceptions on what is attractive for the duration of my interest.

But, the scar looks badass. :wizard:

Hm... I dunno then. Tried to get Garrus' line again, but even though I did the same pairing as before (playing from a mid-base save), I could only get Legion's line now (something along the lines of the base being neither good nor evil, depends how you use it)... this kind of blows the theory of it depending on the pairing, though. apparently whichever one doesn't pull TIM up on his/her omnitool has the line (though how it picks that I don't know, since first time Garrus got the line and now I keep getting Legion). The best guess I have left is that it depends on how you interpret the line, but without being able to get it again or see it somewhere, there's no real way to judge that either. Ah well, another unsolved mystery, I guess.

You should get a comment from both of them if you explore all dialog; my first run through I went through all the options talking to TIM and got both Garrus and Grunt (who has holding the omni-tool, I didn't even think Grunt had one) to comment, second round I didn't beat around the bush and only had Legion's line.

Yeah, he wanted to save it in mine, because he didn't want to let all those lives go to waste. He wanted them to count for destroying the Reapers. But again, my logic was that Cerberus would only use this to gain power for humanity and to save humanity. Given the somewhat strained diplomacy between humans and turians, I have my doubts that it would mean anything good for him if the base were to be spared. My Shepard, who was romancing him, decided the same--and so she blew up the base. Had she truly believed TIM, she might have followed Garrus's advice, because it did stink to let those lives go to waste and to lose that technology.

Curious now...does Garrus always tell you to smoke the council also? He told me to forget about them in my ME1 game. It seemed a bit at odds with his interests as a Turian (most hated you for it). Then again, as Garrus said, he thinks he's a pretty bad Turian.

One LI with Carth syndrome is enough. Thank U. Beside not all will "cheat" on LI, but  in this hypothesis you punish all of them. I think the worst they devs will do with cheating problem is ruining relationship with Kaidan or Liara. Also It's like more like a soap opera scenario than space opera.

I don't see it as cheating if you've been DEAD for two years, any more than it would have been cheating if Liara/Ash/Kaidan had a fling or even a serious relationship with someone else doing that time.

You died; the relationship ended. ...unless we're suddenly talking about a whole OTHER fandom?

Kaidan doesn't seem to think it's over.  Just look at the email he sends if you romanced him the first game.  He says that night meant everything to him and he implies that he wants to give it another try.  Tough luck, pal, my paragon-Shepard was upset by Kaidan enough that she went to Garrus.

And mariosonic... Please tell me that you realize, despite that mod being possible, that kissing Garrus would canonly likely be fatal for one or both participants in said kiss?  I thought the forehead-leaning was a good workaround.  Frankly I doubt turians even kiss each other (look at those mouthparts... I don't see how it'd work!).

Well, saliva does contain proteins and enzymes, thus amino acids, thus... well, Mordin does warn you to not ingest.  I'm sure that goes for saliva as well as other fluids.  Giving Garrus a smooch could result in anaphylactic shock  (severe allergic reaction) for one or both characters.  (Frankly that should be possible just sleeping with him, but I guess the game devs decided to overlook that.)  So it would be potentially fatal as well as awkward.  Again, I think the forehead-leaning was a good workaround.  Ironically it's also a bird-like thing to do, if you ever watched a pair of pet birds.  They tend to snuggle with just their foreheads leaning together, which is completely adorable--and which Garrus's romance scene reminded me of.  I guess I got more "aww" out of it than some people because of that.

Just to give Garrus some love:

If I were Shepherd I would fire Miranda as ship XO and put Garrus there. He is a much better leader and doesn't go around saying how superior he is (sorry she just doesn't have the temperament of a leader let alone an XO). He also shows that he cares very much for those under his command and I have never seen him berate other crewmembers in public. He is the only one I trust to lead the fire team and the diversion team so that certain masked engineers don't get killed.

Anyway had to do some Garrus love.

No, he's always gotten the 'Quick! Open the arms!' lines for me; take a more hostile character with him (Ashley or Wrex) and they say the 'Hold on, what has the Council ever done for humans?' line. I think he always says 'I hope you know what you're doing, human' if you let them die, though (but I haven't Renegade'd him and killed them, that might get a different line).

Garrus and Shepard can't kiss each other. It would be weird and impractical. Shepard can kiss Garrus, though, and unless she practically slobbers on him it shouldn't be harmful. I can imagine her kissing him lightly on his head somewhere, just as a sign of affection. Turians don't kiss but I'm sure they know that humans do, and the significance of it.

I loved the headbutt though. I hope they get a hug in ME3.
