YES.  I feel like you are choosing an iteration of Garrus, the same way you choose an iteration of the many Shepards via your Renegade/Paragon choices.  It's not Shepard who's swaying him; it's the player, from beyond the 4th wall.

Yarp. Like when turning him down after you've triggered the romance, it seems you're given basically the exact right thing to say based on what he's thinking. He's really into the idea of you two getting together, but is fairly concerned he may wind up alienating (hee!) you if things go wrong. He'd rather not hook up at all if there's a chance it will damage your friendship. It's Shepard's reassurance and confidence, or, alternately, concession to his worries, that ultimately makes up his mind.
*L* It's seriously a practical thing as far as games go, but i've realized just how often you hear, "Yeah, you're right." "I know you did the right thing." or "That was the only way," even when you know that's not the case, because you've played it before and made the alternate decision! Posted Image So, to me it's a little refreshing that Garrus will disagree with you sometimes. I wish it happened a little more often (with all characters, natch). It would make Renegade decisions harder, or even Paragon ones if say, your LI disagreed with it, if someone was calling you out on it.

Agreed. I'd love it if your squadmates actually called you on your BS, or things they didn't agree with. A couple of times they come close (Garrus advises you against picking up Legion, and everyone warns you off waking Grunt), but big choices like the fate of the collector base, how quickly you go after the crew, killing/not killing on loyalty missions, etc, should definatly get different reactions from your squadmates depending on what you do. It's very easy for Shepard to be BFF with the entire crew at present, but there should be relationships which effect other relationships, and squadmates react accordingly. For example, choosing to help Legion should result in Tali being colder towards you; giving TIM and Cerberus crap should have Miranada irritated.... being Paragon or Renegade would actually have consequences on your relationships with the squad. At the moment, for example, convos with Grunt tend to go better if you choose the Renegade options. More of this.

Also, unrelated note, I am using epoche's Garrus firefox skin. Thankee! 'Tis awesome! :D

That and you get to warn him off picking a fight with Garrus.

Always pick that option.  Because that was what my mind was thinking.

Sometimes, it does get it right, you know, that mind reading thing.  I love how that teenager actually gets scared of our puny Cyborg Shep.  I haven't seen fast backpedalling since the last Presidential election.

Wow, we reached the 200 page mark and I missed it! Well, I didn't open a champagne bottle when the Garrus romance was comfirmed, I'm not gonna open it now (what a lousy celebrator I am)

Anyway, if I remember correctly, a bunch of pages ago somebody asked for Turian name ideas. Whatever happened to that? Any conclussions? Any interesting ideas? I ask because I'm having trouble naming a couple of characters. I don't think I'm gonna write anything with them, but I still think they deserve a name (even if it's just for the picture filename anyway). I've tried alien name generators but every result sounds awful for a Turian

(bear in mind that the drawings are sketchy and extremely generic)

Character 1
(I thought the square markings could belong to the space station he was born in. I mean, if a turian is raised in an alien planet that holds no official turian marking, wouldn't it make sense for them to adapt official flags or, in the case of a space station, an insignia?)

Character 2
(Completely provisional sketch, plus he doesn't look old enough)

I also drew a couple of Asari, in case you're interested. Just as sketchy, I was waiting for the bus.:P

Oh wow.  Can't help you on the name ideas because I'm too distracted by those awesome drawings! (Shiny things!) Character 1's markings are pretty bomb...I luv eet.

(I also really like that Asari. I don't usually think they're too attractive but...that's hot. EDIT: Should clarify, the tattooed one.)

Nissun, your drawings are amazing. I like both turians, and the asari with glasses, too. I'm pretty crap at thinking of names, though, and I don't think I can do anything better than a name generator, so sorry I can't be any more help.

I'm probably not going to get any Mass Effect 2 DLC recently, I'm going to go through all of ME1, first.

I'd be pretty scared of some crazy cyborg space woman telling me not to fight somebody, if I was a space teenager. Obviously mind-patterns would vary if I were krogan.

Hey guys, i know i mentioned this before but remember how people saw a smiley face on the back of garrus's old armor? Well on garrus's new armor you can clearly see a " =< " face on the front of his armor.

Oh dear, bioware has a good sense of humor xD

Posted Image You are an incredible artist. Lurves. Your skills leave me awestruck and totes jealous.

Also, when do you get to ahve the convo w/ Grunt about turians/Garrus? 'Coz I just did his loyalty mission and a coupla others, and each time he doesn't want to talk to me. Posted Image

ETA: Names. In a game thingy I'm doing with the DH I have a turian I named Rygen Ikaras. I also have a couple of others in the works:
Laetan Naas (Nye-us, like Nausicaa -> Nah-si-kye-uh), and, his sister, Lehta
Xereth Mytus- barefaced, kind of a generic bad guy

www.behindthename.com/random/ Or try this place. You can do names by place of origin, so go with the Latin. (Roman Myth or classic Roman)

When Grunt comes to the conclusion that he hates turians (I think he says it after telling you the clawhammer story...man, I've seen/read a lot of gory stuff, but that mental picture actually squicked me a bit). Renegade Shep's option is B!TCH STEP OFF. Definitely a post-LM convo, though I'm not sure exactly when it pops up.

I think it's the second one after the LM.  You have your debrief convo, then go do something then visit and he tells you about peeling a turian.

Stay the hell away from Garrus, you raging hormone.

Oof, I'd turn renegade once just to reply to that. Teenage angst + Krogan's natural angst doesn't bode well together. Ugh, stay the hell away from Garrus, you raging hormone certainly.

Not being racist to Krogan. In fact, I actually find Charr's story quite adorable.

It's also torture; for obvious reasons I didn't bother to commit the details to memory, but I'm pretty sure the implication was that the turian was still alive.

Man, if Ashley were still alive in my game I'd totally introduce her and Grunt. "Hey Ash, I found someone who shares both your reluctance to trust aliens and your willingness to consider them as separate from their race! You'll get along great!" *trollface.jpg*

Wait, DLC-!! Oh, yeah! :P So busy having these other convos that I totally spaced it. hurr durr.

Yes, Nissun, as hard as turians are to draw *grumbles* concensus is that you're officially boss.

I'm'a have to go play a little now- for the DLC and to try to get that convo. I need -something- to stave me off until the Kasumi DLC.

Yes, I can see it now...Ashley's spouting off poetry while Grunt describes some pictures from the tank.

BFFs!!

Edit: 500 MB DLC == Start the download. Go take a shower. Come back, install DLC. ????. PROFIT ENJOY.

I didn't know Wrex had that line about Benezia, but I always brought him as my second squadmate... Right, I brought Liara that time. >_>; In my next playthrough, I'm going to choose a Shepard who doesn't trust Liara to choose him/her over Benezia.

Those turian drawings are awesome. :D I gave my main Shepard a turian childhood friend, but I didn't give him a real name. She couldn't pronounce it, so she started calling him Talon because he has claws. xD His response was, "...Okaaaay. I'll go with that."

About that turian torture Grunt described... well, I gave one of my Shepards a very cruel father who was in the First Contact War, so that fits him well enough. o_o; That poor Shepard. He was already worried about becoming Samara (the way she killed her own evil offspring, not the strong moral code), and now his "adopted krogan child" says this. Where's the option to make Grunt watch educational videos of interspecies tolerance? xD

I seem to recall Grunt going "It wasn't torture, he was dead.." and such when I got the conversation ;x. How they wanted to show an extreme example back to the Turians.. I don't think the turian was alive.

EDIT: Found it! He starts off with "A dead Turian"

Ugh, I squick really easily, and I haven't even heard the conversation and I feel a little queasy. Dead or not, it's still not a pleasant picture.

I don't think I was paying attention, but I believe Zaeed talked about how he ripped the helmet off a krogan.
