Hey, that substantiates the claim from some pages back that turian fringe looks like the hair of the indominable Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney! :police:

I will vouch for this.  I accidentally rejected him last time because my fiance was distracting me so I hit the wrong dialogue choice.  Once I realized what I did, I immediately tried reloading my save.  Thank god I saved right before the scene.

Can Turian's physically cry?

Good question. I would say no, but then I found out that they could sweat, and that asari and quarians can cry, which I also thought was impossible. So...dunno! Could make a decent argument either way.

Maybe they can since all it really is is your eyes lubricating themselves excessively.  I can't imagine they don't have lacrimal glands.

Yeah, I accidentally hit it once, too.  I felt awful.  THAT is not a fling response.

I can't bear to watch the scene...would someone be so kind as to paraphrase what was said, so I can find out without my heart breaking? :(

Could not even do that accidentally.

I did that once to Thane, but it still was just the whole, "It's not no, just no nooky" choice, er something. But yea... I've only heard about the rejection scene. I haven't even youtube'd it.

I dun wanna. I'm not in the right headspace for devistated!Garrus.

Is that if you say 'I want to be your friend?' Cos I pretty much always go to almost click it, then realise my mistake. Why put that in the place of the paragon response? Why?!

I think watching Gar get rejected would be worse than watching him die... at least then he knows you love him. :crying:

Actually, question: has anyone romanced Gar and another LI to the point that there is a confrontation and you have to choose? If so, how does this play out?

You say something like, "I think we're better off as friends."

He replies, "Yeah, yeah, I guess you're right."

But it's not the words, it's the tone.  It was like I'd stabbed him in the back.

Definitely not.  When he asked what I did to Garrus, my response was, "I just broke his heart you bosh'tet!"

Yeah, it's in the "paragon" spot.

There's no confrontation other than they refuse to talk to you till you make up your mind.

Dumping Zevran for Alistair didn't even make me feel that bad.  And I adore Zevran.

I reloaded.  Quickly.

It's really sick how BioWare manages to make you care so much about their characters. I don't know how they do that. I was literally traumatized (albeit briefly) in real life after taking the dark side path in KOTOR and doing something truly evil; I had to reload and replay several hours because it was really bothering me. Then I dumped Thane for Garrus in my last ME2 playthrough and I actually LAID AWAKE IN BED that night feeling like it was a moral dilemma...should I reload and stick to what I originally promised, or go for what I'd always wanted (Garrus)? Yeah, in the end I picked Garrus (of course!), but it really gave me pause...Darn you BioWare!!!!

(Yeah, I know...I need help)

There's no confrontation like the first game, you just try to flirt with them and they tell you to break it off with the other person first. Jacob is the only one who has any unique dialog there; he calls Garrus a cuttlebone and says something about women always going for drell eyes. IIRC, Thane's is something weird about feeling the eyes of another are upon you and Garrus doesn't want to cause a mess.

It's worse, because the whole theme of the courtship seems to be that Garrus is alone in the universe and you are the best thing in his life.... then BAM! Rejected!

It's a wonder his mind doesn't go all loopy in the suicide mission as a result. (actually, does that happen? Would be an interesting consequence.... rejected LI falls.)

Has anyone rejected him in the bedroom?

"I want to be your friend" is when you break it off with him before the final romance scene. "Maybe we make better friends" is the rejection option at the very end.

The cinematography and the tone of his voice is worse than the actual dialogue.

Yeah, Keener REALLY sold that rejection.  Even my husband demanded to know what I'd done.

Has anyone found a video somewhere of Jacob's cuttlebone line? I've tried looking for it on Youtube, but the only rejections are for the final scene in the bedroom. I'm trying to romance him now to see it myself, but this relationship is so skeevy.

This is making me sad just thinking about it. :crying:

Also, thanks @enormousmoonboots. It's good to know. I've wondered, but I didn't want to derail any of my relationships yet because I heard it was possible to get one of the LIs to a point where you couldn't turn them down. Or I was playing a 'No LI' game.

I think I might romance Jacob and reject him though. I've sort of done that before (playthrough 1, after Garrus appeared on the scene I was all like 'KTHNXBYE!' and we were 'just friends. Think I may take him up to my bedchamber, then kick is sleazy ass out of there! lol. It will make me feel better about this whole 'rejected Garrus' thing. :innocent:

I was romancing Thane and Garrus for a bit and Thane did say something about there being others on the ship watching you who need to know where they stand... Garrus did not make any challenge, he just kept saying that he was thinking about them being crazy for even thinking about blowing off steam and then the option appears in the Paragon dialogue spot to say "let's be friends". I did not think that would be so heartbreaking when I chose that option, I just thought it meant a question and reassurance/discussion not Rejection! :(Never again.

When/where does Garrus say that about it's being a mess? Having had the above experience, I never rejected him again.

(Off-topic: Thane does say that he will wait if you change your mind but then never talks again afterwards, just says he is thinking or meditating on what was said before. ME3 or a loose end?}

You can turn down all of the romances before going through the Omega-4 Relay, but in the final scene there some of the romances have a 'rejection' option which is not in fact a rejection, but a 'not in a sex mood, we'll do this later'. These are Jacob, Miranda, and Thane. If you try to turn down Jack, Tali, or Garrus, it's a breakup. I compiled most of the rejection vids in an earlier post, it's interesting that Garrus is in the more 'emotionally fragile' group.
