How rude of you to interrupt our nug discussion with a Garrus-related question.

I got nothing though, sorry.

There's Memento Mori, but it's not complete yet.

I can think of one that's particularly risque, if you're interested.

Come to think of it, I don't see a lot of Shep/Garrus romance fics that I like, and I'm betting that has to do with my rather being friends with him. I can think of several fics where I like the author's characterization of Garrus, but he's not exactly the focus of the fic.

Uh what's the risque one called? And how risque are we talking? I'm intrigued, but also very much a prude...

It's called A Matter of Perspective, and I didn't link to it because, when I say risque, I mean very.

Very.

It's supposed to be this but with a giant Garrus head on it. Success?

Might stay away from that one then, lest it offend my puritanical sensibilities.

Most of them I've read are short or in-progress (or not compelling). I don't know what is too risque to you; one of my top picks does have romance elements mixed with strong story. Developing the relationship and cultural/species aspects to turian/human interaction as well, while using ME events for structure. In progress at Ch.13.  www.fanfiction.net/s/5766683/1/Second_chances

I recently found this one and read the first chapter. It's long (31 ch) but not complete. It's an interesting starting chapter although the Shepard has a first name, like bologna does (It's late and I'm getting loopy). www.fanfiction.net/s/5744974/1

Anyway, I hope these are to your liking. BTW, I found A Matter of Perspective and, wow, that .is.very.risque.

Did you start with ME1 PTs where Kaidan was always your LI? When you say dumped Kaidan, what do you mean? Dumped him in ME1 or in speaking to him on Horizon somehow?

Sorry for the late reply. The kids are asleep and I was dutifully fulfilling my ME2 needs.
Well, 2 PTs with Kaidan as love interest (and a third where I Virmired him so as to avoid any accidental relationship). In the First, I played through with Kaidan as my LI. Really chatted him up, got into his character, started to like him. Then started ME2, knowing I could romance Garrus but only thinking idly about it at the time, and up comes...Horizon.
Part of my attitude that I "dumped" Kaidan is just that, perception. The other part is that, after Horizon, talking to Kelly and Joker I gave the best indication to them I could that you could put a fork in our relationship 'cause it was done. (I know, laaaame.) Then I did a second PT, same character, same dump Kaidan/romance turian, just to get the point across. And this time I was a jerk back to him on Horizon, too. Went running to that forward battery PDQ afterwards. Image IPB

Anyways! I'm going to do my ME3 PTs in the order they were started (only the second of the Kaidan<Garrus one), so I can see how things play out, then go through the second PT happily with my one and only Garrus. When I am finally bored and need to mix it up, I'll do my loyal to Kaidan run. Nothing against him....really. It just smarts to get the boot so thoroughly like that.
/pointless rant

I see what you mean about dumping, I forgot about replying to Kelly and Joker afterwards. Kaidan might not know it, but to follow up Horizon with an email while Garrus has my six, well, Garrus is assuming control....Surprise, Kaidan. If Kaidan comes off as he did in Horizon, then, the ME3 conversation will be mighty short.

PDQ to the battery indeed! I need to play again, as it has been a few days since completing PT2 after my ME1 level-up replay.

That Vanguard video is awesome, especially since my next playthrough will probably be with my Vanguard. If Kal'Reegar actually told Tali that Shepard (the one who plans to romance her) is insane, I would laugh. xD And so would Shepard, because he knows it's true.

Shepard: I am the vanguard of your destruction, Reapers!

My first import to ME3, just like my first import to ME2, will be the one for the Garrus romance. :)

I won't have any trouble not romancing Garrus with other Shepards because then it would seem like he was cheating on my main Shepard. I've got the Mass Effect romances all planned out for my Shepards, it's the Wardens in Dragon Age who I can't seem to finish perfect playthroughs with. xD I didn't even know the Warden could flirt with some of those characters until I accidentally found the option.

I had to go out and arrange something today. Instead, I started reading this fic. Now I'm too late.

It's all Garrus's fault.

:o "Then I'll give it to you, and you won't be able to walk straight for week," he promised..

Didn't even play ME1 when I started ME2, so I made an infiltrator male as filler until I got ME1, and I'm not going to carry him over.

Now I've got ME1 I'm going to play through that as Paragon Sentinel FemShep, Virmire Kaidan and romance Garrus, and that'll be the first playthrough I import to ME3.

Doodles and Phoenix Wright references are amazing.

I am so tired today; I usually read something here or in fanfic as a sort of goodnight... that story kept me awake.
Whew. Here's another one called "Whatever You Need" that has a similar effect . If webpages could get dog-eared as well as bookmarked.... anyway:  www.fanfiction.net/s/5815174/1/

A Matter of Perspective was a bit too long for me to sink into, right now, but I guess I'll read it some time or another.

Whatever You Need... that was curious. It's very suggestive, by the way, those who haven't read it. I guess it was good. "Seamen" *cough* didn't know there were sailors in the room, too.

I just read Whatever You Need, and... how do I ask this tactfully and without being banned? There seems to be a popular notion that a certain part of a turian's anatomy retracts until needed. Is that ever referred to in one of the games, or books, and I missed it, or is it a fan-created idea? I wonder because this isn't the first fic I have read where it wasn't there and then it was. LOL

My gods, I lol'd.

@RPGmom: I think it's a fan idea. With all the radiation on Palaven, some figured that his... delicate parts... could be protected by making it... disappear. It will pop up when needed. Or something.

It's a curious, if delicate subject, whether such important parts are external or internal. Some people are for one and some for the other, but I don't think it's been mentioned, probably because Bioware probably wouldn't be able to clarify it without seeming silly, so I believe the fans bring their own thoughts. I have a feeling most of this thread prefer external.

Hmm, I don't know if this discussion came up, but how old do you all speculate Garrus is? It seems Shepard's 30/31 by ME2, so do you imagine Garrus to be older or younger, and how much by?

I think Garrus is either approximately the same age or slightly older.  No more than five years age difference I'd suspect.

Definately younger, around 22ish in the first game.

I say he is around 30. He had to have military training and time to "rise in ranks" in C-Sec. 30 - 35 would be my guess.

And I believe Shepard is still 28...you know, people don't get older when dead.

You think Shepard didn't have a heartbeat until the very second Miranda said wake up?
