I say he is around 30. He had to have military training and time to "rise in ranks" in C-Sec. 30 - 35 would be my guess.

And I believe Shepard is still 28...you know, people don't get older when dead.

When is Shep's age given for sure? I thought it was character dependant?

I reckon late 20s/early 30s for Gar. He is often reffered to as 'idealistic', and he's clearly still young and fit enough to be at the top of his game, but he's been around long enough to become slightly jaded. I think Turien military training probably begins at quite a young age, and he went into C-Sec as soon as he was able (do Turiens have a mandetory service period?), became very quickly disillusioned with it.

Garrus seems like such a nice reflection of Shepard, that I think if Shep does have a proper age, they are the same age, and if not, then he swings between 28 and 35, depending on the age of Shep. lol :police:

I'd say he's in his late twenties in the first game. I remember a dev stating that he's supposed to be "under 30" on livejournal, but I may be mistaken.

You think Shepard didn't have a heartbeat until the very second Miranda said wake up?

For most of a time yes. From "meat and tubes" to heartbeat a long way...But who knows?

I thought that Sheps date of birth is stable in a codex. I didn't know it could change:blink:

Also Garrus doesn't srtike me as young adult or adolescent more like an adult in his early 30's - maybe slightly under 28-29, but not 22 year old rookie. He had seen his fare share of combat and cases. But that's just speculation. We can't be sure.

I don't know. I was asking. Just because in character customisation I thought I remembered an age slider thing. But I've used the same face for 2 years, so I'm probably wrong. lol

Most people seem to be putting Gar at around the 30 mark. This makes sense to me.

I definitely think he was at LEAST 25 in the first game. I'm guessing he's in the 27-29 age range in ME2.

I'm actually OK with there not being any.  I'm all right with it coming about as they realize how much they trust each other and rely on each other in 2.  He's young and brash and I felt like even my Paragrade had to reign him in a bit in 1.  it's when he had his own squad to look after and lead and essentially walks in Shep's shoes in her memory that he comes in to his own.

You can't be in a relationship of any kind with a woman like Shepard without being steamrollered if you're not equally strong.

Uh what's the risque one called? And how risque are we talking? I'm intrigued, but also very much a prude...

It's called A Matter of Perspective, and I didn't link to it because, when I say risque, I mean very.

Very.

I will second and third that.  Chapter 4, you better be stuffing ice cubes down your shirt before reading.

I guess I always see Garrus as younger than FemShep, as much as I'd like to desire otherwise, but I don't think it's a vastly large difference. He could be about the same age, to at most five years at a stretch, in my opinion. And I wonder, does Shepard count as two years older if she comes back two years after being dead? She probably isn't, biologically, but still. Perhaps Garrus would now be older than her.

My Shepard does seem to look up Garrus an awful lot, and probably has a thing for turians, but it's kind of impossible to know exactly what Garrus himself is thinking. I speculate that he always just thought of the two as a professional work relationship, and maybe even good friends. When Shepard brings up the idea of them relieving stress, he just sees it as two friends doing each other a favour, but as it goes on, and he has time to think about it, he realises that it's actually quite nice, maybe even thinking "why didn't we do this before?", ready to let it develop and go on, but he does feel awfully awkward about the different barriers to overcome, and the risk of embarassing himself and Shepard. Of course, this is all my conjecture. I'm prepared to get shot here for mentioning it again, but Monica and Chandler.

I just read Whatever You Need, and... how do I ask this tactfully and without being banned? There seems to be a popular notion that a certain part of a turian's anatomy retracts until needed. Is that ever referred to in one of the games, or books, and I missed it, or is it a fan-created idea? I wonder because this isn't the first fic I have read where it wasn't there and then it was. LOL

It's just a common sci-fi trope to make aliens more alien, been happening since the Vulcans (and let me tell you, it is a weird feeling to realize you're reading porn that's older than you are).

I'm playing through ME1 yet again (to Virmire a certain Lieutenant) and I thought I'd share some HD screenies of our boy.

More in the album. I <3 screenshots a little too much.  I think I spend more time setting up scenes in Fallout 3 than actually playing.

<3 Thank you for the Garrus screens!

I haven't had the time to come ask, but now that I do: How do you all feel about the new outfit that Garrus was given with the DLC?

I haven't been on ME2 since the DLC came out, so I haven't had a chance to try it out, yet. I think it looked good from the screens, though, even though I'm not extremely fond of the orange scanner, I always thought blue was more his colour.

Garrus screens are all amazing, really good quality, and it's always good to look at Garrus up close, and have some screenshots of him. So bloody hot... And, heh at the Bonus Nihlus Picture.

ELE08--Sweet! Are you playing with the ME2 face textures mod? It's really nice to see him not looking like N64 graphics. Could I make a request? Is there any way you could cap the conversation (preferably with subtitles) after the Saleon mission, the "Commander, I wanted to thank you..." one?

New armor--I like it. I actually still prefer the loyalty armor (like I've said before, the dash of red in the collar is just so classy and distinctive), but this one's nice, too. I'm still convinced the blue/gray/orange color scheme is an elaborate Paragon/Neutral/Renegade joke referring to his malleable morality.

I'd agree there, it does seem like it. I don't think there'd be any other major reason as to choosing orange. I guess orange, or Renegade, is kind of pushing everything away, going forwards without a care, hence he fixes his armour to show he's putting it behind him, yet Paragon, and blue, shows that he's not going to push it away as though it didn't affect him, and shows that he's going to learn from it, and keep it as a reminder. This is just conjecture, though.

Yeah, I'm using texmod for his face.  I don't think I would be able to go back and play without it.

I'll make a note to add screens of the Saleon mission when I get to it.

I haven't downloaded the new armor yet, still waiting on the Kasumi content.  From what I've seen though it looks good and I'll probably use it.  A lot of people aren't a fan of the orange visor (probably because the blue has become pretty iconic to Garrus.)  I kind of like it though, adds a nice color contrast.

Garrus actually had an orange visor in the development days of ME1; you can still see it in old promos and trailers. So it's a reference to that, too. Similarly, early concepts of Thane had him with lots of red in his design and earrings (the earrings were actually supposed to be in the final model, they just forgot).

I do think that Garrus ultimately looks best in blue and other cool colors, though.

Even though I'm used to blue, I really like the orange visor. I still don't like the armor, but I already voiced my opinion on that, lol.
If I could combine the orange visor with his loyalty armor, it would be perfect for me.

EDIT: Great screenshots, ELE08! Kind of looks like he's praying at the wheel of the Mako. "Dear vehicle Gods, please let me drive the Mako the next time."

Also, new armor continues the legacy of Garrus armor emoticons.
