Jacob always came off as a nice guy to me... but not too smart. I don't think he meant to be rude to Tali with the AI comment. Just stupid. I just don't like how he questions Thane so rudely, for one. And no matter what TIM thinks, Miranda is not a second in command. She's his little watcher, sure. But that doesn't make her even remotely second in command anywhere except her mind. I just wish we had been given a bit more control over that.

Take my secondary Shep. Colonist/Sole Survivor, she's not going to trust anyone very quickly. And she HATES Cerberus. She wouldn't tolerate either of them stepping in on her command, which both seem to do there. She trusts Garrus because he states very firmly that he's in her camp, he trusts her and will go along with her into hell if she needs him to. Tali, too. Both of them walked the walk the first time and come back willing to do it again, unlike Kaidan/Ashely. (I disliked Liara for a long time until I really talked with her in ME2 and came to respect her. She's a tougher nut than I gave her credit for.) Considering that I haven't even done Jacob or Miranda's loyalty missions, that they would think they could step up and assume any kind of command is vexing. TIM states that Shepard is in charge, that the decisions are her's. I always make a point to remind the two who is in charge. I just wish we could have picked who was in those scenes. I realize it would have been too much work but... it's just one of those little things that really irks me. >_>

/is on her fifth playthrough

I would actually sit still for that episode.

I could imagine how a Mass Effect, robot chicken skit would look like.

Garrus: So, i hear that you think i had stick up my but and i'm beating people to death with it.

Joker: Er, no garrus were did you here that?

*Garrus's eyes turn red and he pulls a giant stick out of his ass*

Garrus: KAPLAH!!!

*Bludges joker to death with a giant stick, then goes on a rampage while stripped naked*

Ha, robot chicken mass effect would be both funny, and probably waaay too much of a pain to do, I bet.

Jacob, ah, I wish I got to talk to him more to see how he ticked. All I have to go off of is what other people say, and the little scenes. It seems with each playthrough, I sort of feel a little more sympathy for him on his Loyalty mission.. I also always get stuck in those bloody trees. (And having my other buddy talk about the situation, fun times!)

Yeah, I would trust garrus more in the second-in-command position, but then you think about all the paperwork/whatever that would have to be done.. He probably wouldn't like that part too much, he'd much rather be on the ground doing things. I think someone mentioned (somewhere) that he would be a much better for being in command battle wise, and to leave the paperwork and logistics to Miranda.. or something. Yay for supposed to be doing work, yet gabbing about the game!

I keep reading in fanfics that turian body temperature is much higher than that of a human's. Is there any canon evidence for this, or is this like the purring? I'm going through the wiki entry, but I can't find anything.

It's purely a fanfic thing.  There's nothing cannon about increased temp.  I think it's one of the things people kind of assume since their planet has the whole radiation from the sun dealio.

Personally, not a fan of the purring.  That seems more like a drell thing (their throats are made funny), but I can TOTALLY see turians being all about the growling/snarling.

No canon, but Garrus tells you that turians don't like the cold and are used to a warm climate (Virmire-type tropical). Many infer a higher internal temperature from this info.

My personal headcanon is that turians are very poor at retaining heat (as a result of their warm environment), so that's why you rarely see turians out of armor (Grunt's comment) and even on climate-controlled space stations they're completely covered, to the point of wearing gloves.

I'd never want to force Garrus to sit and do paperwork. But having Miranda be the office monkey is totally different from having her claim to be the Second-In-Command. (Granted, I'm now in a heated argument with my friend on Steam about it. His claim that Cerberus could force Miranda to be the XO and my argument that it wouldn't work that way given that Shepard is the one in charge to the point of who they recruit and where they go.... it's a mess. Haha.)

But I trust him to know how Shepard works and what she looks for in crew to understand who would be a good team mate in a battle than Miranda. Miranda's claim of being the XO rings of 'Cerberus put me here so you have to respect me as the XO' to a bunch of people who honestly don't give a diddly for Cerberus to being with.

....and he just decided to end the discussion with: "Getting nowhere, so... whatever. It makes perfect sense to me why the game doesn't allow you to promote your boyfriend. So there. :P"

/facepalm

Zafflesia: Enh. In my mind they're about equal; especially now that this wonderful forum has inspired my mind to think of humans and turians as having more little similarities than they know.

Heh. Garrus is my second in command (was just thinking about that here a bit ago as I finished my fourth PT, BTW), Miranda can be my gofer.

I....have thought of the Robot Chicken thing before actually. I, um, had this silly though pop into my head, of the "humping robot" from RC and, putting Garrus in its place, going away at his calibrations terminal when Shep's not looking....no, I have no idea why! It was just funny, random and totally OOC shenanigans in my head. Typing that out makes me thing I may need a psych eval, though...

Hahaha, nice Ky. I think Garrus would be most people's second in command, even if you're not romancing the guy.

Oh god, terminal humping Garrus D:.

That was pretty much my thinking as well.

Also, when does he tell you that Virmire reminds him of home? I've seen this line come up a few times, but no matter how many times I talk to him on Virmire, it's either "oh crap Wrex" or "NOT NOW, SHEPARD". Am I just talking at the wrong times?

Talk to him after you've killed everything in the area (base approach), either at the very beginning, before you run into enemies or when you're out of the Mako opening the doors (once all the geth are dead, of course). Once you reach the salarian base, the lines change to "Saren must be stopped etc". It's something like "This place reminds me of where I grew up on Palaven." On Therum, he says "And I thought Palaven was hot." So it's definitely a warm place, on average.

I would give just about anything I can think of right now if they made Palaven a visit-able planet in ME3, a la Tuchanka in ME2.

I would have actually preferred to be given the option
to keep scars on my Fem!Sheps, too. They're warriors, they've been
through hell... to me that should leave a bit of a mark on a person. But
that's just me.

.... the chance to get out of her armor, put on a casual relaxed outfit and go on
a nice quiet date with her Turian love. (Granted, one would prefer a
nice dinner out with some dancing and the other would prefer a quiet
park away from people.) I could easily see
either getting married(life bonded, whatever) and wearing a dress. Just
as easily as they both strap on their armor and kick major ***.

I miss my scars from ME1's beginning.

I have  a romantic date type outfit as well as some kind of cute lounge pajamas on my mental ME3 request list. I rather like  the idea of a bondmate or marriage ceremony between my Shepard and Garrus, it would be in character for my Shepard.

Aye that! Are you reading this, Bioware? I have a perfectly good first born with your name on it if you give us Palaven.

Heya guys, hate to randomly impose again- but I'm just so curious, what's "plough like fresh snow" from? It just seems really hilarious and I searched and couldn't find anything =/ I don't recall him saying that either but if you guys can share w/me that'd be great ;) thanks!

Even though I'd love to see Palaven, I doubt we'll see it. Seems like they're letting us see the home world of each faction, but the Asari, Salarian and Turian all rule from the Citadel, which we've already seen.

I believe it is just an enthusiastic euphemism for sexing somebody.  I don't know that it's a reference to anything.  Maybe azn will say otherwise...

Mallissin- They put us down on Illium, which is actually an Asari colony, with a good dash of Salarian thrown in.
Geez- Something I noticed. After the "suicide" mission, when I talked to everyone, everyone either told me it was a bad idea to give TIM the base or that they "hoped it was the right decision". Except who? That's right! Garrus! "I hope they can put that tech to good use." *Sigh*....well, granted, I don't know what Jacob or Jack said, being as they, um, vanished under mysterious circumstances and weren't at all killed off deliberately.....
((Okay, I actually like Jack, but she had to go so I could get my one shot at hearing Garrus tell Miranda to shove it. Jacob....put him in the vents for the lulz. Evil Shep is evilz.))

ETA: Also, the dress/marriage thing seems to me to be a Shep-to-Shep variation. My Paragon Shep would say yes to marriage, no to a dress, and my Renegade doesn't mind dressing up but says "Bah!" to marriage. Plus, the latter didn't romance Garrus anyway, so she'll be saying "Bah!" to Kaidan in ME3.

We have seen an asari colony, though. And we got more depth on the salarians with a salarian party member. A turian colony only makes sense by now.

I think 'like fresh snow' is from Anchorman? I recall vaguely recognizing it when the joke was originally bandied about some ~150 pages ago.

Oh, I agree there. Each person has their own personality for their various Shepards. I was just kind of taken aback to see so many seem to discount the idea that a strong warrior woman liking frilly things, too. That's all. It kind of felt very one-dimensional to me. (But I like overly complicated characters... Probably too overly complicated, honestly. Yet another reason I have resisted fanfic writing over the years. Ehe.)

I just can't be evil/mean enough to play full Renegade. I tried. I just couldn't hack it. :{ I'm a fail mean person. (But don't tell my coworkers.) Doesn't stop me from having a 'slightly less Paragon' Shep. I created 2 for my various playthroughs. Both Virmired Ash and one romanced Kaidan... for the express purpose of seeing his reaction in ME3 when he discovers he got tossed aside for someone who actually trusts my Shep. (Well, one playthrough has Thane and the rest are all Garrus.)
