Thanks for the codex transcription. It's been awhile since I've read it. Maybe that should be added to the OP?
Will do so after I've had dinner and kinda decompressed from work, also caught up with the last few pages. *just got home*

So I said earlier I'd share some screenshots from my playthrough of "Garrus Effect." And So, here are some of the better ones I took (I know my texture quality isn't great, but I don't have a zoompy graphics card). Here is a set from the first mission of Commander Garrus Shepard on Eden Prime:
Commander Garrus being all contemplative
Yeah. He's just that cool looking
"What was that you said about a stick up my butt? Lieutenant?
Commander Garrus looking like he belongs on a "Hope" poster.
"Hey! I want to see what's on the screen too!"
Team Garrus! Suited up and ready for action!
Commander Garrus surveys the battlefield like the tactical genius he is.
"Why do I get the feeling Jenkins is about to meet an untimely end?...
Splayed mandibles mean "Back the hell off!"
"Feeling... Lucky? Well, are you punk?"
Shhh! He's concentrating!

For some reason I laughed like a maniac while looking at those. XD They're awesome!

But it made me wonder about extensive cybernetics for turians in general. We know Garrus probably has about a half a head full of cybernetics now, but where do turians as a society draw the line? Do they? Even Nihlus didn't seem to blink at how low Saren's essence was (Shadowrun reference for those who get it).
I see wut u did thar!
Hehe, but yea, I was wondering about that too. I mean... Saren looks vaguely turian. After going through the games multiple times, I've never seen another turian that looks as large or has the same body look, tubes coming out of the back of his head and facial structure that I saw on Saren.
I think by the time he hits Eden Prime, he was waaaaay gone. Which again makes me wonder, Um Council... HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A FREAKIN' TURIAN ANYMORE. WTF?!

The first time I played through, I thought the holo of Saren didn't show just how cybered he was (in this sense, the CyberPunk/Shadowrun sense, it means 'full of cybernetics to a point of there not being much actual person there any more', not the more common internet meaning of 'cybered', FYI - I know, suddenly my post just got about 400 times less interesting, right?). Then I did later playthroughs and you know... Saren's big ol' GETH ARM is RIGHT THERE. RIGHT. THERE. In plain view. Um.

Dear Commander Shepard,
I was relieved to hear that you were alive. I was devastated to hear of the destruction of the Normandy, and those people who didn't make it off in time. After you went missing and were presumed dead, I feared I'd never see you or Garrus ever again. You and he did so much to help clean up the Wards when you were hunting for Saren. The galaxy needs more people like you, and I'm glad you're still here to protect those of us who've grown to depend on the both of you.
Is Garrus with you again, by any chance? After being so happy to hear of your survival, I wondered if perhaps he might have ended up with you. I left a few messages on his public accounts, but you know how he is about checking his mail, and I don't think the comm address I had for him works anymore, because he hasn't returned any calls. Always so busy on his grand crusades, his great passions, that he focuses on them to the exclusion of anything or anyone else.
Anyway, if you know where he might be, I would really love to hear from him. Or both of you could come by the next time you're near the Citadel.
Thanks!

Several things to think about in regards to this comment. We know that rumors started spreading of Shepard's survival months (if not years) prior to your actual resurrection. I'm assuming that according to this e-mail Garrus got wind of this while still on the Citadel - otherwise how would she know his reaction? Maybe it wasn't just Shep's death & the Council's cover-up scheme that spurred Garrus to leave C-Sec, but also the hope that Shep was actually alive somewhere? It would also explain why he wasn't surprised at her appearance in Omega.
Who else is DYING to see a flashback from when he hears that Shep may be alive (and dead, for that matter - teh angst!)?

I never use the helmets in ME1; I totally forgot that light turian armor's helm is just a weird hood thing.
Yeah, Saren's a biotic. He uses that damn annoying move that just kind of makes Shep fall over when you fight him on Virmire. I remember reading concept art stuff where he originally had a less militant appearance to emphasize his woooo mind powers.Ms Cherissa wrote...
And biotics - I don't know if Saren was or wasn't, some of his special
effects seemed similar to biotic barrier, for example, but then so did
ME1's geth shields. It stands to reason that if most biotics are the
result of embryonic exposure to eezo, the more 'advanced' species would
have fewer such accidental biotics. They'd theoretically have stronger
controls on such a dangerous substance, so Salarians and turians would
have fewer biotics than humans.
Somebody on the Garrus fangroup was speculating that since Palaven was so warm, turians evolved with very little fat and insulation on their bodies (they're very muscular in concept art, possibly because there's not much fat between skin and muscle). Thus, they lose heat quickly when not in a warm environment, and this is why turians are so heavily clothed (to the point where even their casual wear in a controlled environment includes gloves) and not seen out of their armor much.Splinter Cell 108 wrote...
I suppose they can. There are plenty of Turians on Noveria although
they might have trouble adapting to different conditions since Garrus
was complaining about the cold all the time. Who can blame him though,
he's used to living in a tropical world. There's also plenty of
Turians on the Citadel and Omega so I doubt that they can't live in
places without radiation.

I'd like to see Garrus' reaction when he heard about Shepard's death too.
One question: I've played through Thane's loyalty mission a few times today, and my Shepard asked Mouse for a Shepard VI. Does it actually appear on the Normandy somewhere, or will I never see it? xD

Garrus is so badass he is completely unphased by the arrival at his base of his doppelganger from the future, accompanied by what very well may be zombieShep, and a geth.
Somehow I feel like Legion was *not* the most "interesting choice" in this video, lol....

Actually I think it's indicated that the rumors are started by Cerberus around the time you wake up (maybe a bit before, but not years)...
In any case, she says after she heard about it ,she wondered if Garrus had ended up with you (since she hasn't been able to reach him in forever and she knows you two were a team/friends etc... It kind of sounds like "He just never replies to emails, I don't know how else to try and contact him... Wait, Shep. is alive? Hmmm, maybe he's with him/her! *write write*) - I might be wrong, in which case I appologize for mis-reading, but it sounds like you're reading the "After being so happy to hear of your survival, I..." sentence as expressing that Garrus heard and was happy, but she's talking about "I" so herself there. She was happy about the news and then it occured to her that Garrus might be with you again.
I don't think there would have been any rumors while he was still on the Citadel in any case (Cerberus would have kept a lid on it until Shep. was at least nearly "functional", at which point it was in their interest to start rumors esp. about him/her being with their organization). If Garrus did hear rumors, it would have been on Omega, but I think he had his hands full there without time for gossip
To me it sounds like she's grasping for straws trying to get in touch with him, and since he was already "busy with his grand crusades" on the Citadel in ME1 before you even pick him up, it's just a sign that she knows how he his and not a big stretch on her part that he'd be crusading wherever he is, even under the assumption that Shep. is dead and would hook up with the "save the galaxy" team again if he could.

It may partly be Saren's fault, his extra "fringe" looks kind of like whiskers. The shape of their mouths...And their little noses! Actually I think it's just ME1's fault. When I see some of the screenies I have of Garrus from ME1... he looks very kitty like. It's weird Oo
And yea, the vibro voice doesn't help deter that train of thought. o.O But does that mean Drell and Turians can purr?

The issue of whether Shep was declared/believed dead, and how long the rumors of her survival took to start going around, is still one of the biggest question marks left for me. Seems like every time I read a thread about it, people have different quotes from their respective games that support one theory or the other. I don't know if this is affected by your ME1 choices or what? Or it's just a matter of what you happen to hear/see.
My first impressions were that the rumors of her being alive only started after she actually woke up and was spotted on omega and other places (i always forget you don't technically have to go there first). But then, I also didn't pay as good attention to what Cerberus people and others said in the beginning, because I naively assumed that Shepard's miraculous rise from the dead, first time achieved by medical science in the galaxy, would be, you know, reacted to more, by squaddies, NPCS, and everyone. People even argue over whether Shep was declared dead or missing in action. In my game, Jacob tells her the alliance declared her dead. But then, someone like Garrus who sees how shady the following coverups were, might be tempted to disbelieve *anything* they hear on the matter. Who knows though. I don't know what to think...
