I know this is imposing human views on an alien culture, but that's done all the time in sci-fi, anyway, so why not with this: doesn't pretty much every civilization incorporate music into their lives and culture in some way? I can't think of any, alien or otherwise, that don't use music some way. I wouldn't even rule it out for the hanar (although I'd be hard-pressed to explain that one to ya right now).

I'd love to see turian art! We know so little about turian culture ... it's an outrage! =<

Silence is an item I doubt most civilisations enjoy.

Oh. Em. Gee. Anybody who hasn't downloaded silentstephi's screenshots and has enough space, do so now. They're amazing. So. Much. They may be filling my HD with NOOOOOOO but it's good NOOOOOOOO.

...This is really stupid, high pitched and stuff, but it suddenly made me think "Garrus" Hairspray

Does anyone else think it'd be nice to have a "Rate squadmates in order of preference" poll? Instead of just one where you pick your favorite because, seriously, there are too many awesome characters to only be able to vote for one. Heck, even Zaeed grew on me. And Mordin? Best. Salarian. Ever. I love me some Garrus, but I don't like the idea of another awesome character getting shafted because I could only pick one.

Someone did a survey a while back. You could rate all squad members and did some statistical analyses. I'll try to find the topic. Garrus got 3rd place or something (behind Mordin and Tali) if I remember correctly.

But yes, polls on this board are kinda sucky. I almost always vote for Garrus, so my other favorites are neglected. They don't deserve that.

EDIT:

I found this thread. He made 2 more surveys, but this is the only one with the results in a clear .pdf. Garrus has 2nd place here :)

If we are still drawing parallels betweens Turians and Ancient Rome, their art would probably be more focused on literature and poetry, and single instrument performances rather than orchestras. The codex does mention something about their belief in spirits, and how every military unit has an official historian whose duty it is to tell stories of past victories before a battle and to all new recruits. That seems to imply a strong oral tradition. I bet Turians listen to lyrics in music more than the rhythms. Whereas Humans will listen to any crap on the radio so long as it is in 3/4 or 4/4.

Aww, so much Garrus love showing up :)

And the screenshots above are great but it's just too bad Jacob had to ruin the mood in that one shot with his patented Jacob Glare. :P

W00t! Overtaken 300! Nice one, gus. :)

I was pondering Turien civilisation today (posted a rambly post about it earlier). I want to see historical Turiens. Where does their culture come from? (of course, we'd need to see a little more of where it's at in order for that to make sense.)

Spent a lot of today imagining awesome Turien Knights riding around on the Palaven equivelent of horses (which I imagine to look a little like Ixion from FFX).

Hey XxKarivexX. No need to be shy. We're all about the love on this thread! :D

Also, I know they're apex hunters... but aren't humans as well? And we still foudn theneed for speed. Granted, not every culture did, but where there were horses, apparently there were peoplw who wanted to ride them. I'll have to look more into that...
But the idea of rustic or ancient turians riding around on plated chocobo type animals amuses me... greatly.

OH! How did you get that casual shot ELE?!

Hey!  The thread kind of took off today.  Yay.
I also considered that humans are top of our food chain, but that largely seems to be through the use of tools as opposed to physical prowess.  Whereas turians, well they got those teeth and claws and svelte bodies, ya know?  Why ride when you can run.  I can see them using animals for practical transportation though, maybe a link before a modern mechanical transportation system was developed.  Hehe, turian on a chocobo.  Someone please draw this.

I'll take the comments on my screenshot as a compliment of my rudimentary photoshop skills.  It was originally some random Afterlife turian with Garrus head slapped on.  Sadly, there is no way to actually take Garrus to a bar in the game.  That I know of.

When I think of Turians I think of Sparta and their whole society. I was watching 300 the other day and I couldn't help but think that's most likely how Turians were in ancient times... Only they'd be even more badass and would yell "THIS IS PALAVEN!!!"

If you think about it, their societies are strikingly similar. The whole going into the military when you come of age and the value placed upon the group.

And now I'm imagining Turians in the spartans attire... Kind of sexy actually... XD

We've seen Shepard drunk. When will we see Garrus drunk? After all he's stuck in an emotional mess in ME2 it wouldn't be strange to see him drinking. Althought if that happened I hope he's a funny when drunk and not the depressive sort. Maybe he would finally tell Shepard how he feels instead of saying it indirectly with his "hints".

Garrus drunk would be awesome. Or hilarious. Drunk turians in general. I'm still pissed we didn't even get to go to "Palaven" on the Citadel- you turians are all racist!

Yeah right? There's this place with turians inside with a big fat sign that says "Palaven" and we can't get in. That's just too mean =(

I do remember some dev saying some time ago that they would consider Palaven for DLC for ME2 or at least for ME3. I really hope it does appear in ME2 through DLC. Visiting a world made of tropical beaches with Turians everywhere would be the best DLC ever. Plus since tropical areas are hot them maybe we would see Turians wearing different clothing. I can't imagine them going around such a hot place fully clothed.

I didn't mean naked though. Just less clothing. I bet that sounds worse but whatever.

...I browse the newest Garrus pictures on DA far too much/often... I actually saw that... a while ago...

It's still pretty funny, and the idea of a drunk Garrus would be interesting. Hell, DrunkShep/DrunkGarrus stumbling around, grasping onto each other whilst they make a fool of each other, Shepard splatting blue paint over her face to make her look like Garrus, and Garrus having stole some sort of wig whilst they bumble around the Citadel.

I like the idea of visiting Palaven, but I have a feeling that they're not going to design very many clothes for it.

...

Ugh, janeym, talking about Ixion reminded me of another picture...

...The fact I always seem to post pictures from all sorts of places makes me feel so obscure.

Well it would be nice to see turian hands at least. They can't be wearing gloves in a tropical climate can they?

Is that a llama?? What is this I don't even ...
