Well you could have worded it more carefully.

To address the issue, I personally don't think that of all the things a person needs to be honest and upfront about, that fandom ranks very high. I keep this stuff to the internet, myself.

Kotori Ky, it's not that bad a joke. I suddenly imagined Shepard and Garrus falling into bed together, drunk, and waking up stark naked. Only to realise they're in a bed store.

I'm on an Xbox, so unless I got out a camera, I can't take screenies. You all are so lucky.

I like how you think. /slap on the back :D

Riding around on a female's shoulders is a critical part of the courtship process.

I don't have trouble saying to anyone (if it fits the moment, of course) that I like a character called Garrus Vakarian. If someone disagrees, I say: Good for you, wanna debate that one out? But then unlike some of the more obsessed ones, I wouldn't run around street yelling his name for no other apparent reason than an emotional overload. It really is just a matter of understanding your own ideals and human interaction patterns. What to say when and why. It just takes a bit of thought.

Yeah, but then I don't tend to talk about that sort of thing much in "real life" anyway. I guess it depends on the crowd you hang around with. As you've so delicately pointed out, a lot of this comes off as pretty weird, so beyond recommending Mass Effect to my video game playing friends, and maybe having an occasional conversation about it or the characters if my friends have played it too, I don't bring it up much beyond the internet.

@ Ray: I have no clue what it could be referring to! Not enough Die Hard in it, though.

OH you know what it was?  It's from the second Austin Powers movie, when he yells at Heather Graham for sleeping with Fat Bastard.  "Literally HOW could you do it?  The mechanics of it are mind-boggling!"

Well now I NEED TO KNOW. HOW.

I...

Something about the Garrus/Fem!Shep relationship being compared to Heather Graham and Fat Bastard is just MAGICAL. I've yet to determine if it's a good or bad kind of MAGICAL.

But nevermind that! KAIDAN HAS SOME INPUT ON THIS PHENOMENON.

BAHA. Oh, Kaidan.

I don't care if it's silly and juvenile and maybe even OOC, I would love that reaction so much.

This.

I just know I'm going to be so disappointed in ME3 when all of the FemShep LI confrontations are no fun, even if that does mean keeping everyone in-character.

Would Kaidan be justified in giving Garrus the finger? He started dating, although dispassionately, during the period in which he thought or suspected Shepard to be completely dead. Then he shouts at her about Cerberus, and just says there's a chance for them to get back together in the email. But then again no one has to act rationally.

Bioware said there will be consequences to cheating, so we'll see. I didn't romance anyone in ME1 as none of them appealed to me, so I'm in the clear and I think this is the optimal way to go.

We can make it fun! Clipped from the comments on that picture:

Garrus: I already did. In the shuttle on the way here actually. And yesterday it was on the galaxy map. And the day before that it was on Shepard's desk, right beside your portrait. And the day before that...

Kaidan: STOOOP!

@ Antilles: Heh, thanks! :wizard:

MarginalBeast: This. I know we're probably not going to get a physical Kaidan/Garrus confrontation, but still....it's my favorite to think about. ^_^ Especially if it was part of a choice, and you could pick to encourage the fight or to put the kibosh on it, resulting in a vitriolic insult exchange instead.

Garrus: Must feel real good to be the one who turned her off to human males.

......And I can't come up with a better Kaidan insult than the "sloppy seconds." >:P

Same here.

I still look forward to seeing the confrontations/consequences on YouTube, though.

This verbatim. I'll watch it on youtube but wouldn't be bothered to go against my "canon" to see it.

New goal for this evening, since I have tomorrow off: Drunken ME playing. This will either be a night to treasure... or a terrible inter-species awkwardness thing. A win either way.

I've done that, but I played through Jacob's entire loyalty mission and the next day I couldn't remember a damn thing about it. LOL  Seriously, it was pretty much a surprise to me when I repeated the game.  (100-proof vodka strong.  Recommend moderation.   Apologies for Mordin voice.)

1 billion renegade points for Garrus...

Yeah.  Plus, when your little women goes on a suicidal mission, you go with her.  I completely intended on my female Shepard to stay loyal -- at least for the first game I was playing.  After that mission, I figured Garrus needed a hug at the least.

I'm new and I haven't read all 300 pages, so I'm just going to mention the other reason I like Garrus.  www.youtube.com/watch

Just a quick anecdote:  I have a family member staying with me, who had the IMMENSE PRIVILEGE () of watching me play a little ME yesterday.  I (like most of you) happen to think that the Turian is one of the coolest sci-fi alien designs of all time,  However, said family member had a much different reaction when I started up a conversation with Executor Pallin:

"What the hell is that thing?  It's so ugly!"

Anyone else get that response from someone who's seen a Turian for the first time?

I am ashamed to admit this, but the first time Nihlus walked onto the bridge in ME1 on my first playthrough, I just about jumped off the sofa, exclaiming, "WHAT the HELL is THAT?!?"
I know better now. ;)

And as for others' reactions to watching the game, I actually fooled my husband not once but twice into thinking he was watching me watch a movie, not play a game.  He came downstairs and watched for a few minutes while I played ME1 (he couldn't see my hands or the controller from where he was standing), and suddenly exclaimed, "Wait...is this a GAME?  I thought it was a movie!"  He was completely astonished.  (and for the record, he is a smart guy and not terribly gullible--but he did the same thing when I was playing ME2 2 years later! LOL)

Maybe it's the alcohol already talking but... I have to admit, Nihlus walked onto the screen and my reaction was to lean forward and go 'Oh, I AM going to like this game...' I found Turians fascinating from the get-go. Probably a sign.

As for alcohol making me not remember the game... Since this is playthrough... five? Four... I forget. I'm not so worried about that. XD I could probably play it in my sleep.

I really want him to say that. It would not only mean that Garrus would finally admit his feelings for Shepard but it would also be so funny to see Kaidan with his mouth wide open. LOL this is so funny.

Congrats on over 300 pages, everyone!

And now for a quoting marathon...

He was trying too hard to impress her and make things work between them. He said it himself he wanted for one thing to go right. But I say he was trying way too hard and it turned out to be awkwardly sweet.
Also, he might have not been able to afford a second wine for himself from his vigilante salary.
"Hey look, I bought myself some wine. You just sit there and watch me drink."

Just so you know, I choked on some crackers when I read this.

And then Shep turns to Garrus and says, "He...really didn't do enough for me to be considered `sloppy seconds.' If...you know what I mean."

Every time my dad walks in on me playing, he asks what movie I'm watching. "I'm not."

 I'd just like to say it's not unheard of for normally even keeled people to go a little craaaazy when dealing with relationship issues.  Kaidan is even tempered, not a robot.  So--yes please.  I think I'm making my canon Shep virmire him though.  Youtube it is.

That's good, but I found out that you have to watch out for Intoxication Hazard #2...if you drink too much and try to fly from planet to planet, you'll see every planet double and won't be able to fly straight.  Dang, that made me so dizzy I had to stop.
