Actually, Garrus' romance outfit was chosen by a couple of BioWare's female employees, believe it or not. (Second paragraph.)

That's...unfortunate.

It's like finding out who choreographed the love scenes in Dragon Age.

Ohh, burn! I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Garrus' romance getup, but surely it isn't that bad! :P

.....Is it strange that I've learnt a lot from that picture? I never knew how to go about doing a turian stick person. Bloody hell.

Cerrydd's picture wins, though. That's pretty hilarious. Kirby Garrus.

I guess I didn't really pay attention to it, but looking at the costume... I guess it is quite bad, especially considering the mood. Though I've had it pressed upon me that I've got a bad fashion sense. Eh, it goes with the music.

...Is it someone bad? Are the love scenes bad?

The love scenes are just bizarre. The characters just look like marionettes rubbing codpieces. There's a mod out there to change the background music to 80's porn music...which makes me feel better about laughing at the scenes.

It isn't anyone bad in particular. But when DA first came out, there were quite a few topics on how terri-bad the scenes were.

So much complaining...and there was this particular OP that I remember that was lecturing the developers about what it should have been like and how different it would be if a female choreographed it. Then David Gaider himself replied saying it was a woman that choreographed the scene.

The whole forum went "D:"

It's actually pretty much the same case right now, though on a smaller scale: just us.

Though... to be fair... being female doesn't guarantee something females will like. I mean, I'm pretty much what the typical male wouldn't want.

Yes. That pic is just awesome. It's even better than I could ever draw it. Garrus is too hard to draw.

Haha wow.  Am I the only one that thought Alistair's scene wasn't too terrible?  I mean, I've only seen three out of the four possible (Never seen Morrigan's, haven't played as a man yet XD) but I thought his was comparible to like Garrus... sure, Ali and your girl got nekkid... but it was all lovey dovey and not... well, the laugh fest I had with Zev's scene XD
ME3 needs more Shirtless Garrus... damn it. >.>

Reading that paragraph, it's hilarious how the female Bioware employees are just as giggly and prone to squeeing as the rest of us...ZOMG GARRUS! is true even if you're a professional, I guess.

I think difference is that Garrus' oufit was probably intended to look dorky. The awkward Dragon Age love scenes? Not so much.

Luckily for PC gamers, both can be changed to their liking. For me, it's just enough for me to change the background music. Although...it makes Alistair's scene less romantic...and the look he gives you at the end while you're sleeping suddenly becomes creepy.

Dang, I have to play DA:O. I always wish I knew what you peeps are talking about.

Of course, I'll have to unglue myself from ME2...and this message board...ahh forget it, because of you guys I have 6 weeks of "24" to catch up on. Buying a game would be buying a doorstop at this point. ;)

Yeah, it probably was intentional. Garrus's outfit, I mean, not the awkward love scenes. I guess showing Garrus as having an awkward dress sense does contribute a lot to his romance character. Maybe he's got some nice clothes, but he thought Shepard would have liked that one the most? I mean, he chose Flux as suitable love-making music, too.

Mass Effect NEEDS Shirtless Garrus, let alone more of it. Heck, give me a shirtless turian, and I'd be satisfied. Just not when I'm romancing Garrus and the shirtless turian isn't him.

Eh, I understand most of what's been said about DA, even though I haven't played it. If not, searching generally does the trick for understanding it for the moment.

*sigh* Garrus, so cute and so hot. Makes me wonder what it'd be like, Mass Effect in real life.

Just curious (and somewhat OT), but let's say I love single player RPGs, but am not so fond of the generic Tolkienesque fantasy conventions (like dwarves and elves and mages, etc.). Would it be worth it to try to play DA:O? It seems like the way that Bioware handled the intersquad interactions/relationships is interesting, and a lot different than in the ME series, so I'm curious about that. But last time I bought a fantasy-based RPG (Elder Scrolls: Oblivion), I ended up getting bored/annoyed with it really quickly.

Funny you mention it, because I just started playing DA this morning. I had a real hard time really getting into it though. I eventually turned down the difficulty to easy, because I couldn't be bothered doing my best to finish some enemies off. Maybe it's because it's a big step from futuristic alienshooting to middle ages fantasy thing. The lack of your character's voice also didn't work well for me. The game gave me an headache. I guess it's not really my cup of tea, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep playing (played 8 hours).

And of course, it lacked Garrus.

Dragon Age isn't too bad, as far as fantasy stuff is.

I was actually really impressed with City Elves.  For once, the uppity mother F'rs got put in their place... >.>
XD
As far as the dwarves in DAO, umm... I'm not a fan of dwarves in general (comes from the unnatural hatred after 2 years of dwarf priesting in WoW) so I can't really give you much on that, but they seem to have a very interesting caste system.

The mages and how they're treated in DAO is actually kind of fun.  Justifiably angsty, yet a  lot of mages just say F the system.
Oh, and Alistair is a dream boat.  Can't forget that. XD

SO BTW, I HEARD YOU LIKE mudkipzGARRUS

I honestly don't know. I've been surprised a lot by the games I wasn't normally interested in, but after playing it enjoyed it greatly. ME2, for instance. One thing kind of not interesting me in Dragon Age is the overly human-ness of it (Elves and Dwarves may not be the same race, but they're pretty human in my eyes). Though I've enjoyed games before that were majorly/fully human, I just wasn't compelled to get them, initially. So I honestly don't know. And the middle-age fantasy setting doesn't really bother me that much, I've played through those a fair amount and wasn't that concerned.

Yes, I know that's an extremely unusual screening process.

Damn, WoW, havn't (not having, bloody mistyping) played that for ages...

Lacking Garrus is another completely different issue, but that's everywhere. My school lacks Garrus. My house lacks enough Garrus. My room lacks Garrus. That wall lacks Garrus. This thread is pretty much the closest thing to a portable Garrus patch I'm going to get.

...This thread is starting to lack Garrus, a little. Love the screenie, silentstephi. That's going to go straight to the Garrus computer. And yes, I liek mudkipz Garruz. *gets shot*

...I get shot far too often. Maybe I should see a professional about that.

This hypnotises me.

THANK YOU! Yes I agree, just the top half will suffice, really! It can be easily done too, remember that "sparring scene"pitch I made a few...hundred pages back Image IPB well what BETTER excuse to have a bit of armor off if he just finished a sparring session with Sheperd!

By the way Kasumi's comments about garrus, loved em.

My friend at work played both ME1 and ME2.  Garrus is his favorite character by far (although he says Kaidan is unbelievably hot, so we don't agree on everything).  He tried to play DA:O and ended up returning it.  He said he couldn't stand the micromanagement.

I loved Morrowind and Oblivion.  I was playing Oblivion before I started ME2.

Anyway, I have a question:  I was just replaying Garrus's loyalty mission, and I was wondering:  What were Shepard and Garrus talking about while they waited for Fade to contact Sidonis?  Any thoughts?

And P.S.  That mission is SO FREAKING COOL I watched the big long cutscene twice in a row...I didn't realize how huge Garrus's armored foot is until I saw it on Harkin's neck...holy snikies, that man is going to have a turian-foot-shaped bruise for a week.  Also I love how Harkin's ugly face gets banged up the more Garrus wails on him...oh goodness, how can anyone not fall completely in love with the G man after watching all that?  And he hadn't even gotten to Sidonis yet.

Love, love that man!!!! :wub::wub:

I liked Dragon Age a lot but I'm always going to like Mass Effect more. Like someone else said everything looks too human. In fact it's so human that my favorite species are humans, the rest I don't like so much. I dislike the dwarves a lot, the elves are fine but they still feel like humans. Mass Effect doesn't have that problem. I also found Dragon Age's companions not as interesting as ME1's. My favorites where Morrigan, Alistair, Zevran and Oghren. The rest aren't so interesting, I hate Sten with his idea that he is superior to everyone.

Dragon Age also doesn't have new game + so I can't play the game all over again with high levels and armor unless you glitch. Oh and there's also the glitches, there's SOOO MANY of those. The romances aren't as interesting either mainly because there aren't aliens involved. I like the alien options better in ME2 than the rest.

Good to see all the input about DA. I will probably still end up playing it, but then again, I don't know when since I still have to finish Assassin's Creed 1/2, play Bioshock 2 (bought it the day after it came out, watched the opening cutscene...and started a 2nd playthrough of ME2)...the list goes on and on.

The only thing I really like DA:O over ME1+2 over is the party banter. I laughed myself to tears and considerable pain at some of the random party banter. I would do just about ANYTHING(sans romancing Jacob...) to get that kind of party banter in the ME games. There was a TASTE of it between Garrus and Tali in the Citadel when he teased her about the elevator. And a bit when your two party members sass you in Samara's loyalty mission... but yeah.

MORE PARTY BANTER, BIOWARE!
