I can't do it, either. I consistently admire the talented people here who can apply texture mods, manipulate programs, and combine characters to create new things. Also all the amazing artists who do ME art. I love to look at it all but for me to contribute something...let's just say the implications are...unpleasant.
I know what you mean. I'm currently busy with a turian drawing myself (not Garrus though, just so I can do whatever I want when it comes to the face-paint) and I'm afraid I might just get the proportions all messed up. Oh well, that'll teach me to draw without reference pics (but I do think it's coming along pretty nice for something drawn without any reference pics)!
I'll post it here when it's done. First, I'll have to finish my sketch, ink it, color it, and...yeah, it'll take some time before it's done. But I WILL post it here when it's done. Just so you know.

By the way, I was wondering something: Is that face paint on all turians' faces or some kind of permanent tattoo? The game keeps referring to it as face paint, but I've heard both.

Now if I thought I could do something that would turn out like that, I would do it. Mine probably wouldn't even be funny. Everyone would be disappoint. :/

Shepard: I finally learn my way around the Citadel, and then they change everything! D: *looks at weapon shop* ...I forgive them though. This one really is my favorite store on the Citadel.

It is, but I read somewhere in the last few pages that there's a place called Palaven on the Citadel that isn't open for us to see...Collider wrote...

It's just a holo-sign, somewhere in the Zakera Wards. Maybe the Palaven embassy is located there? I doubt it though, those wards are way too shady.

I saw this somewhere in the thread. Different strokes.Briallen wrote...
On a Garrus-related note, has anyone ever come across people who say they like the Garrus romance because it doesn't have any sweeping declarations of love or affection, and thus they think it doesn't have any potential for a long-term relationship?
Friends with benefits. It happens sometimes. That line of thinking honestly baffles me. For one, I don't understand the mindset of entering into a relationship -- particularly one with a close friend -- that you have no intention of even trying to make work long-term.
It's not as if those are mutually exclusive. And two, I actually can't help but feel kind of sorry for those people if they think that sparkly hearts-and-flowers romantic feelings are a better foundation for a long-term relationship than deep mutual trust and respect.
Indeed.Tingly feelings fade over time. Trust and respect stand a much better chance of enduring.

I think it's near angry Turian shopkeeper, but until I get back to my xbox, I can't say for sure. It's just background jazz, but I reckon it clearly points to a sort of 'Turian Quarter' on the citadel. Which would be kinda awesome.

Hopefully they'll open it for ME3, or an expansion pack if they make one. If it's just in DLC, it'll be another thing I'll have to watch in pictures, conversations, and youtube videos. xD

I'll check it out the next time I play.Well, not that I'll see anything besides a door and sign... but my Shepard will want to use the Grenade Launcher/Collector Particle Beam/Cain to break in and find the turians.

Another one of my glorious *cough* skits!
Enjoy the new "Palaven Disaster" DLC!
Together with Inspector Garrus and Horatio Thane you'll explore the dark parts of the Citadel, parts where no one has dared to come before.
Why, you ask?
To discover what that Palaven sign somewhere in the wards is for.
It will be an epic journey full of death, treachery, lust, romance, and action beyond your wildest dreams! Will you come out alive? Or will you succumb to the scars you will definitely get during this mission? And what's the Refund Guy's part in all this? Is the Game Salesman in on the conspiracy, too?
There's only one way to find out!
Buy the "Palaven Disaster" DLC now, for the small fee of just 20 American dollars! And the best thing is...it's worth every penny!

The prawn thing? It's from the movie "District 9". I highly recommend seeing it, if you haven't. I thought it was one of the best movies of 2009.
I meant the whole "Like Garrus's romance because there's no sign it's going to be long-term,"
I haven't watched District 9, but I did look it up a while ago, and I understand the prawn thing. It does sound and look interesting, though.
I haven't seen this Palaven place, yet, but I guess I'll check it out when I'm done with ME1 and go back to ME2.
Nice to see you around again, Kim Shepard

I know, right? It's like the Mona Lisa of Garrus drawings. So much emotion...it almost makes you cry tears of sheer happiness.

Garrus DLC armor has two texture layers, one that highlights green and one that highlights blue in the game when selected in texmod. Both need to be altered or you get that weird bright blue halo. It's still quite reflective in direct light in the version I released which I think is related to the normal map maybe? Either that or there is another layer related to how material reacts to light. Additional research needed...RiotLaFontaine wrote...
ELE08, this may have been addressed earlier, but how'd you get the loyalty colors onto the fixed version? Every time I use TexMod to apply a replacement or modified texture to the DLC armor, it borks and shines bright blue.
I tried to swap in the original Archangel texture you can nab when you first meet him on Omega as well as a recolor of the DLC variant. Nothing worked.
Unless there's an actual loyalty version we get too. Then I am stupid. I haven't progressed far in the PC version to know.
Yeah, I've tried both, too. My TexMod doesn't like ripping them (they won't save) so matter what I do I'm stuck with the ultra blue shine. The DLC armor is unique in this respect as other armor for Garrus is a quick single texture swap. I've heard upping the version of TexMod might work, but I think I have the latest. I've also heard some vidcards are picky, too.

"Why am I still waiting?!"
"Stupendous Disbelief, world is ending, why are you so concerned?"
*Reaper flies over Omega*
"Just let me in, already!"
Ugh, I've no idea what to do. Probably'll play ME1. Want to fic something, though. Existing plot bunnies in my head starting to grow old, die and don't seem interesting.

Actually it's not wise to touch the normal map (the blue highlight) unless you have a normal map editing program. The texture map (green highlight) is what is used to edit the colors. And also, the DLC texture map has an alpha channel linked to it for some odd reason, so if you have photoshop, you might be in luck. I usually save my textures to .dds format (which requires a plug-in d/l), but .tga works.RiotLaFontaine wrote...

Found the map file to Garrus' head, maybe I can try my hands on fixing his face. I mean, Shepard can get his/her face fixed, why can't Garrus? :[

Well, to be fair, Garrus's facial damage appeared much more extensive.
(yes, I know that wasn't your point, but just sayin') ;)
