Deal.
I'm just wondering if it might be a bug/glitch - whatever. Are they supposed to be able to shoot you through cover? I'm thinking not, but I could very well be wrong.

Regarding Garrus in gameplay, I bring him to pretty much every mission regardless of what kind of enemies I'm fighting on insanity just because he is awesome. The way I figure it, I'm already on insanity which means I'm intentionally making the game more difficult, so why should I optimize my squadmates for ease of winning when I could optimize my squadmates for saving the galaxy in style?

So, here's a question - has anyone else had an unbeleivably difficult time on the collector ship on insanity difficulty?
I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I had very little problem up to that point, even making it through horizon with very little difficulty, and all of a sudden - wham! The game cranks the difficulty up to a 13, and I can't even take cover, since they shoot me while I'm hiding. I don't know if it's just me, but it's gotten to the point where I'm ready to break something.

I'm not there yet, but I know you're not the only one having diffculties with that. My brother went crazy and started over with a new Shepard. It might take some time before I get to that point. I don't haz Xbox in my house :(.

Listen to me. I'm predicting the future: I have a feeling that this Garrus thread will hit 400 pages today. Mwuhahahaha! :wizard:

Yes. I actually don't find the regular quests to be all that different on insanity from verteren - there are just lots more enemies with higher health. OK, I die, but I can use the same tactics I've always used, I just have to hold out a little longer, and be a little more ruthless with my charging. But collector missions ALWAYS destroy me! It's not even the scions, Harbringer, or even the Praetorian that do it, either. It's those damned husks! No matter what class (although, to be fair, I've only taken vanguard, infiltrator and soldier as far as that...) I play, I have yet to find a reliable solution to the whole swarming thing. I tend to die. A lot. It's fine, 'xos eventually I get past it, but man is there nothing more irritating than finally wearing the Praetorian's health down to a kill, only to turn around and have your face eaten by a husk. <_<

I've shouted quite proface things at my console before now. And the walls of my flat are not thick. lol

On accents, I think it's hard for you to judge your own accent. I know a lot of people who are like 'but I don't have one.' I'm like, yes you do. You just don't think about it. My accent is messed up. I'm scotch-irish (it's a thing, dammit! lol) and have lived in both Scotland and Northern Ireland for large parts of my life (I currently live in Liverpool). I do workshops with kids, and at the end when I ask if there are any questions, more often than not, I get 'where are you from?' Everyone I work with thinks it's an NI accent (which it isn't.) people in NI thought I was from Canada, of all places, and I've had people ask me what part of New Zeland I'm from before now! (which is daft, 'cos that's a non-rotic accent, and I'm deffo rotic. lol). The kids bet on it - I've seen money change hands. Once, while working in a call centre, a customer who was getting irate demanded I put 'someone who was born in this country' on the phone, then apparently complained to my manager that he shouldn't employ staff who don't speak english as a first language (actually, I believe the term she used was 'illiterate foreigners' :?). Now, I'm not trying to be funny, but I do public speaking for a living so I know I enunciate pretty well- I speak clearly on the phone, and english is my first language. No idea where they thought I was from!  I guess it just goes to show how random the accent thing can be. :wizard:  (also, when drunk, I apparently go 'Dublin'. No idea why.)

Oh, and in keeping with Garrus... anyone else surprised by how much like Garrus Brandon Keener talks in other stuff he is in? I think I had always assumed they did something to the Turian audio, but apparently not...

Second question: is anyone on this thread carrying a game over in which Garrus doesn't survive the O-4? (I mean, to see how that will be handled. 'For Science!' as it were...)

EDIT: To avoid double post.

Regualr while drunk is awesome fun. Insanity while drunk gets violent! ;)

@Kotori Ky. Welcome to Vanguarding! :D It's a fun class to play, but also quite deadly (remember we were discussion inebriated playthroughs? Well, you can have some awesome ones of those on Vanguard! lol) I'm the same as you: I find freedom's landing a pain in the butt, and I speed through it to pick up Garrus, Grunt and Mordin (get Garrus before Mordin. Taking him into the plague zone is super cute and made of win!)

Oh yes. Ever since I picked up Garrus first about 2 playthroughs ago I have done it ever since. "Why can't we ever go someplace nice?" That boy is so adorable, so loyal, and so sweet that I can't help but keep him with me.  This is my second Hardcore playthrough and Garrus was with me almost ALL the time with my Infiltrator. And Kasumi, most of the time. It isn't an 'ideal' makeup, but we did amazingly well. Heck, I didn't die on Horizon at all. But I tend to be the type to let my squadies take it in the face for me and medi-gel them back to loving me after. That's going to change with a Vanguard.

I'll have to break out the bottle tonight, since I don't have to go into work until noon tomorrow. Drunken Charge incoming..... The squadies are so lucky you can't 'accidentally' do it to them... hehe. Garrus POUNCE. :P<3:wub:

I'll admit, I'm too scared to try Insanity. I mean, heck... ME has been the first shooter game I've ever played. (And I picked up ME1 about a week before ME2... so when I say I'm new to shooters I mean I'm REALLY new...)

Would Vanguard Shepard use that in the bedroom?
Garrus: *babbling all awkward and adorable like*
Shepard: *Charges Garrus into the bed*

I never let ANY of my squadies die in the O-4... I always see it as a failure. I mean, even on my very first playthrough I didn't let anyone die by sheer luck and my loyalty to particular members regardless of what the other teammates said. (I swear, I want to sew Miranda's mouth shut. She and her Bugs Bunny teeth... She's SO not my second in command. Now or EVER.)

To avoid double post:

AngryP1xel: Oh dear.... Poor Garrus.

lol. Vanguard Shep and Garrus would sooo be having 'battle sex'. (I hope she has reinforced her bedroom furnature - Miranda: "Shepard, this is the forth replacement bed you've ordered in a week. This is not a valid use of Cerberus resources.")

@Kotori Ky. Drunken Vanguard. It's just science. B)

I've never let Garrus die (even on my deliberate 'Failthrough') My first game, I lost Zaeed (damn LM!), but since then, I've never lost anyone not by accident. And I know none of my games can have dead Garrus, because I would be too sad. I'm just wondering... romance or no, he's a major squad member, and has been there since the beginning (for most players), so his death has to get some kind of mention or consequence beyond his simply not being there, right? It's not like Shep can shrug it off and bounce back easy as that, is it?

D'awww. Thanks. (I know that's based on nothing, but I'll take it! ^_^)

Hmmm... 4 pages to go to 400, only 115 posts to go to 1000... if we put our minds to it, we could get a double win tonight. Maybe I should have doubled posted. lol

I don't want a playthrough with anybody dead. I'll leave that for youtube.

...I don't think I've got a real accent, too much under/overinfluencing. Not really English, not really Chinese, though my tongue twists around the dialect a little better. Maybe I need to get out more.

You sound like you've got and had interesting jobs, janeym27. I plan on being boring, but eh.

I'm still cowering away on Normal. I'll probably end up going up in difficulty, but not straight into Insanity. If I survive that, I may go for the same path in ME1. Achievements are really generic in ME1...

I'm loving Sentinel. Vanguards seem too high risk for me. I tried Infiltrator, but I kept forgetting to cloak, and the sniper slowdown distorts Garrus's voice. Dunno about the other classes.

Been using Garrus and Mordin pre-Horizon, and now I'm testing out Garrus and Tali. I actually managed to beat the Praetorian in one death, and that one was because I was too close to it, and got hit by the energy blast when it drops and the after-explosion.

Hmm... Husks... they weren't such a problem for me. Throw has an amazingly short cooldown, actually. Did have to beat one away with my elbow, and Throw one off Mordin, but otherwise they were actually pretty tame, this time.

...Oh, yeah, a while ago when I talked about beating up Garrus with B and he grunted? Turned out I was mistaken. That was my ManShep grunting ^_^;;

It doesn't seem as if Garrus is used on Insanity... is he really that bad? He's died a lot for me, until I told him to go to more feasible places, but it didn't seem that bad...

No Lorik mail yet...

I think I get hit in cover when the enemy's got a higher vantage point than me or if they're directly opposite the cover and it's quite thin. I do remember having a beam-out with that Praetorian and my shield not actually going down o_O

...Lost my whole post to my browser crashing, don't know if I've forgotten anything, now. ¬.¬

Lifted from the Tali thread. What was that again? Adorable Garrus is adorable. ^_^

Apologies if this has been posted before, but SO CUTE!

@Flammie lol. Yeah. I've been quite lucky with work (call-centres and medical centres aside). I currently work in a museum as an education demonstrator, so it's something different every day (arts and crafts, teaching school groups, giving public talks, dressing up and acting as a pirate... keeps me busy when I'm not at the xbox. Wandered into it by accident. But you a young'un yet, so enjoy that while it lasts!)

Best reason to not go infiltrator ever! (that never occurred to me... I enjoy popping and dropping)

I wandered into a wonderful glitch on Insanity once, on that mission where the mercs have taken over a ship and it's bascially a bloodbath. For the bulk of the mission, they never fired at me. Like, at all. Had awesome fun wandering up to them and sniping from POINT BLANK RANGE (amusing scope views a plenty)

For a "young'un" I quite dislike "young'uns", actually, I actually feel best amongst all you adult-types, though I'd never have the courage to hang around adults... Um, anyway, wandered into the job by accident?

That's a pretty amazing glitch. It's better than all this getting stuck in the scenery... and this weird arse one where Shepard can't turn around, so she's backstepping and sidestepping constantly whilst looking to the left instead of straight forward.

Ah, I just saw that when I refreshed the Garrus DA search. It's quite cute, definitely. All of them are quite good. The DA user called them badges.

Oh, wow:

Youtube's captioning really isn't working out as planned.

Anyway, Garrus.

Sorry Flammie - no offense intended. :)

I'm doing Garrus' recruit AGAIN (I did it last night, but I wasn't happy with the amount of health he lost, and it's one of my faves. I know. I'm way sad.) and tell me if this is just me (but if not shared by the people on this thread, then it probably is). When you are talking to Aria/the various mercs about Archangel, and they detail all his badassery (collapsing tunnels, taking on airships, setting up the bridge as a funnel and trap...), now that you know they are talking about Garrus, it's, well, kinda...hot? Like, makes my hair stand up a little. Sigh. I think that wine with dinner was a bad call (cheers, Kotori Ky! ;) )

No offense taken, just saying it ^_^

I skipped the conversation, just wanted to get it out of the way the second time, now I knew better about the awesomeness that is Garrus. Saying that though, hearing about all the badassery and merc screwing over he does, it is pretty good.

Hmm... that reminds me, even Zaeed liked Archangel. And also, Kelly made a comment about Zaeed. Which meant they had quite a few voice actors for him. Yet nothing from your squad members.

Yeah, ever since I first laid eyes on Garrus in ME2, I actually remade my character and recruited him first (I listened to everybody and went for Mordin first, the very first time I played), and now I always and always will recruit Garrus first.

Wait... you're NOT a raging alcoholic, Kotori Ky?

Definitely. No normal person can anger three merc bands and then fool themselves into funneling down a straight, open bridge.

But, he was tired and making mistakes... and then everything in the mission, and afterwards he's still ready for action and pushing himself... really makes you feel sorry for him...

I just wanna jump into the game and give him a hug. Dunno what he'd do to me, but really, a hug.
