We can all play ME2 while drinking wine, and have Garrus Happy Hour accross the globe! :wizard: It's science, people! (Flammie, you may need to stick to juice with a very high sugar content. ;). Weeeeeee!)

(and yes. This from a person whose job it is to educate children. :innocent:)

They don't have to know everything. I teach kids... sex education. (as a volunteer)

"Ok, so, now you know all about the birds and the bees. But only about humans. Kids, the universe is big. One day we will meet other species. Asari, salarian, turians, hanar... Cross-species intercourse will ensue. Safe sex is the key. And beware of chafing."

I would like some Baileys, but we only have wine and beer. I think I'll pass tonight. Unless Garrus comes walking in with a nice bottle of wine, saying "Heeeeeeyyyyy, I brought wine."

Also, if Garrus comes walking into your home saying "Heeeeeeyyyyy, I brought wine.", you will have won all the internets for all time! lol

(Disclaimer: I am not an alcoholic. Honest. I just like the odd wine or 6.)

Okay, I'm ALL for Garrus Happy Hour! :D

I'll take part in the ME2 Vanguard Drunken Charge-fuu later tonight. I have to be moderately sober for my WoW Raiding first. (I'm bound and determined to kill Arthas before I leave WoW for awhile(or good, depending...)

I can't help but wonder what Garrus was planning to drink that evening. Getting Shepard drunk? For shame!

WoW? What server do you play on? ;) Happy raiding. (yes, WoW drunk is a bad plan. People get pissed off at you, and you make bad raid calls.)

I'll be doing the (slightly) drunken vanguard charge for a while yet, I reckon. lol

Hey - we should totally have Garrus Happy Hour on Friday or somesuch. We can all bring wine, play stripper music...

Garrus did quite well on my Veteran run. But then, I never do Insanity cold. I work up to it. Hardcore is next.

He has an awful habit of just refusing to get behind cover. Or getting behind it, only to jump out again about 30 seconds later.  I mean, on hardcore and insanity all the squaddies are a bit rebellious, but Garrus just runs into bullets he's superman. Which unfortunatly he isn't (as much as I love him, he's not impervious to damage.)

I had to start switching him out of my squad on Collector bases, which made me sad. His 'Impressive' is quite the motivator when you are getting your behind handed to you.

It annoys me when he keeps running out in front of my gun, but I enjoy watching him leap over crates and stuff.

Yurp. Would benefit you in Hollywood, though. (I have a midwestern accent as well)

When I get nervous, I develop a accent. Especially on the phone. Some old lady told me I have a dixie accent. Whatever that means. I thought I sound like any other American on t.v...

Dixie accent would be southern.  I get one every once in a while even though I was born and raised in Minnesota.

And to be at least somewhat on topic.  Do you think there are different regional dialects and accents within the Turian language?  Like maybe someone from the northern hemisphere of Palaven sounds different than someone from the southern hemisphere.

I always wondered where Lilihierax got that Brooklyn (Bronx?) accent. LOL
(although I love it)

Blackhand, though I moved to it awhile ago to play with a friend who has since quit and left me with a sub-par guild that I'm not really pleased being part of but sticking it out just to kill that dratted Lich King. And actually... the guilds that I've been part of since the servers went live have always found it very cute/funny when I get drunk, esp when I'm on vent with them. I never do it during actual Raids, so they've never had reason to be mad at me. Heck, I'm known as one of the more strict and snarly members when other people don't do their jobs. XD

I totally vote for Garrus Happy Hour on Friday! I get off work early that day(since I have to go in at 5am...). I'll have to go pick up that really sweet wine a leasing agent told me about today on my apartment hunt. (I HATE looking for apartments... hate hate hate hate hate...)

Garrus.<3<3<3

I feel better now.

OK.  You had to twist my arm, didn't ya?  I wasn't going to get wine at the store tonight (heh, too fattening)--but now I must get it and first drunkenly play the end of Kasumi's mission and then drunkenly post. :wizard:
Good times....

Also, speaking of accents (were we still?) I find the South African accent to be very unusual.  I'm fascinated listening to Donovan Hock say anything.  (that is his accent, right?)

I think that's his accent. Whether an actual South African voiced him/would agree is another question. lol

OK, so are we actually doing Garrus Happy Hour? Because if not then I should put this wine away. :P

(It's the best I can afford on my salery)

EDIT: Garrus reveal. SQUEEEEEE!  (would have gotten there sooner, but this forum distracted me.)

Yes, Hock is talking with a South African accent and his VA is actually from South Africa. It's a weird accent. At first I was confused, because sometimes he sounded Scottish and sometimes Russian. But then again, the only time I heard a South African accent was in a Louis Theroux documentary.

And Janey, just keep drinking :P. Do it for me.

Oh holy crap really?  I thought he was Donally's VA who was trying to sound like a stuttering Russian.
South African, new one to add to the list! XD
All this talk about drinks has me wanting a baileys with my dinner... mmmmm.

And I think I have my next video idea... but it means I'll have to relive the Jacob -mancing...  O.O
Wish me luck!  (and I cannot get that chibi Garrus button picture out of my head THEY ARE SO CUTE.)

Yeah, one of the BW guys confirmed this in... a thread. I think it was one about the Kasumi DLC in general.

Gah, I'm not going to be here when we hit 400 pages. I'm tired -_-. Damn Ugly Shepard stealing my treasured sleeping hours.

I made these on request in the motivational thread, might as well drop 'em here:

Thanks for making those posters, they just make me laugh :P

And funny thing, I also thought Hock sounded like Donelly's VA doing a mix of russian and scottish lol.

Well, this thread is long, so perhaps discussed before, but did anyone else think that the Firewalker Shuttle VI sounded like Garrus?

I'll let you know when I get drunk enough to try Insanity for that long. XD

Deal.
I'm just wondering if it might be a bug/glitch - whatever. Are they supposed to be able to shoot you through cover? I'm thinking not, but I could very well be wrong.

Some exceptionally ****ty cover doesn't totally protect you. It happens a few times in the game, mostly when you hide behind really small crates, but it's most noticeable on the Collector platforms because it really kills you.

If it helps, here's my Insanity strat for that (soldier, but the basic concept works for just about anyone): Take Thane and Miranda, max out Warp -> Heavy Warp and Throw -> Throw Field (some gratutious cheating may be necessary depending on your level, if you're on the Xbox use the A+X trick). If you have Incendiary Ammo, level it up as high as you can (for yourself, of course, your squaddies can barely stand up straight on their own, they don't deserve to take damage away from you). When the Collectors attack, send them at diagonal positions ahead of you rather than try and stuff you all behind the same console. (if you have Warp, you don't really need Thane, just someone with Throw Field. Pull Field will do in a pinch)

So, like this:

    ______
/(1)           (2)\\
       ____
      /  (S)  \\

It lets you take as much advantage of the small cover as you can; you really need protection from that Scion. So here's what you do: target a Collector, double-Warp it to strip the barriers, Throw Field as soon as it recharges. USE. THOSE. PLATFORMS. They want to come flying to you? Then use the physics engine against them. Cheap? Maybe. But Insanity is just as cheap when it comes to you, so the kid gloves are off.

After trying it six times with various teammates, I cut through those Collectors like a hot knife through butter.

Garrus is extremely useful against Eclipse mercenaries (since he comes with Conc Shot and Overload for their Barriers and mechs). Miranda's LM, Thane's recruitment, and his own LM (also any N7 mission where you fight Eclipse), mostly. Moderately useful on Zaeed's, too. Anything with a mix of mechs and humans. Really, being useful for more than one mission on Insanity is an achievement for a squaddie, I never touched most of my party members except for their respective loyalty missions (of course, once I discovered the deliciously cheese Thane+Miranda combo I stuck with them. Double Warp is like cheating).
/gameplay corner

I have a New England accent of varying strength; I was so utterly incomprehensible as a child I had to go to speech classes at my elementary school. I tend to unconsciously mimic people that I'm talking too (or voices that I've heard a lot, picked up a lot of British slang for a bit after marathoning Life on Mars), though. Result is that I go from 'no particular accent' to Maine to Boston to Canadian in the space of a few sentences.

I actually lolled. (swoon at Brandon Keener, but dammithesmarried! lol)

Just finished Garrus recruit again. Did you know that on the mission summer, the report states "revelation of identity as Garrus Vakarian useful in keeping Shepard comfortable." ^_^

...if you know what I mean. ;)

It might be the wine, but this is the umpteenth time I've done this mish, and I still got ll upset when that rocket hit. I yelled 'Noooooooo!' and everything. I love how he tries to clutch at his rifle (he loves that rifle)

Vanguard is not going to be healthy on hardmode. XD Goodie....

But Garrus is worth it. I just need to stop... rushing. /headdesk

Yeah, the final moments of the recruitment mission really pull at you... it's really depressing...

The mission summary says that? Damn, I never noticed...

Good luck, and have fun. Haven't played WoW for ages, and raiding and gearing was too inconvenient for me... plus it really absorbed my life. Garrus isn't so grabby, thankfully.

Eh, I get drunk on the smell of wine. I'll be able to partake in Happy Hour. Or I could just throw a tantrum or something. Pretty much the same. More mood music and less alcohol required.

...Tantrum+WoW... anybody not seen the video, yet?

Anyways, Garrus.

The golden rule of Vanguard: charge, shotgun, charge again. Charge recharges your shields, so in a pinch, use it! Also, on thr collector ship, you get to pick a new weapon. I always go for the sniper rifle. The Viper is good for dealing with snipers: Vanguards son't have much in the way of ranged attack.

Also, pull, shotgun, charge = awesome combo.

Garrus is more worried about Shepard! After a rocket to the face!

(yep: if I'm drinking, you're getting a running Garrus commentary. :P)

Garrus Happy Hour?!  Wotwotwot? Is this a new thing we are implementing? I am so on board. Just bought a jug of crappy $7 wine last night! (I shall make believe that it is dextro-friendly. The kid in me ain't dead yet.)  Must get done with class so that I can toast Garrus!

(Oh yeah, crappy wine was a priority.  The College student's grocery list: Peanut butter, gatorade, crappy wine, totinos pizzas...and Pokemon Heart Gold version.  Clearly, I have my priorities straight.)

EDITED TO ADD, OMG:  That Real Garrus motivational poster has just made my day. MY DAY.
