I'll have to wait on Friday to drink anything and it also depends on what my friends are doing. Drinking alone isn't any fun and besides the last time I got drunk I did something stupid.

As for classes, Vanguard is my favorite. It also makes Garrus more effective since he's a sniper tech. Vanguards are all close quarters, I need people with long range weapons and tech abilities. Garrus has both. Although it's unfortunate that squadmates don't get as many powers as before. Garrus should have all the powers he had in ME1. I find it dumb that they removed them.

Haha, I have NO CLUE what it's supposed to be. My friend showed me the videos before Mass Effect 2 came out, and as soon as Mordin started giving my Fem!Shep advice with Garrus.

WHAM

Mordin is space Mameshiba.

IT WAS FRIGHTENING, I TELL YOU.

I...I want to do a whole new series about the adventures of Mordinshiba (which I think would translate roughly into...Mordin dog? Ha, but it works, dang it) terrorizing Garrus, Thane and the other crew members of the SR2 with TMI. It would be MAGIC.

EDIT: AUGH. TYPOS.

A bit relevant. Not to be obnoxious or anything, but I wouldn't mind a bump so it's not just Zulu's stupidass thread around.

Anyone who gets upset over another person's character preferences is too touchy. And frankly, Kasumi is pretty sweet, even if her dialogue options are truncated.

Re: headbump, I think the animators probably intended for it to be one but they couldn't figure out how to do it properly (or didn't have the time), so they did the best they could by manipulating camera angles so that it looks like a headbump even if it really isn't. It's not like they expect most players to hack into the game and rotate the camera during that scene. It could also just be clipping issues, or perhaps they aren't touching the center of their foreheads together, rather the sides, if that makes any sense.

But, yeah, I'm 99% certain it was meant to be a headbump. ...And because otherwise, wtf are they even doing?

Obvious headbump is obvious.

Also, clipping is indeed an issue. Hell, look at when you cuddle with your LI. Clipping galore.

I've always felt Garrus was definitely one of the better characters in the franchise. I was a little disappointed in ME2 that you didn't get as much interaction with him as a male character, given that he stood out pretty strongly in ME1, but I was more than happy to see him again. To me, he always seemed like a good wingman for a male Shepard - more than willing to offer an alternative viewpoint while still supporting his friend in the end. The kind of guy you'd want at your side in a crisis.

To a lesser extent, Jacob and even Thane fill this role a bit in ME2, but it still felt as if Garrus, in the end, was more reliable, in part just because you'd known him for a longer period of time.

Yeah. Jacob and Thane can make good wingmen (and they do, Thane is a part of my sniper team and Jacob and I have this amazing brohug), but Garrus is…well, different? He’s the kind of guy that you’d be able to do anything with. Jump off a cliff together, go on a Suicide Mission, go to jail together, etc, and I’d expect him to go: “Well, that was fun. What’s next?”

This is why my Shepards like Garrus so much. The going to jail together part is strangely important to a few Earthborn Shepards... and Evil Shepard, but he's more of a "take the fall for me, and I'll break you out later" sort of guy. xD

Wow, that picture of Garrus on the moon is awesome. :D It must take a lot of skill to position the camera like that. The closest Garrus gets to my screen is this one save in C-Sec during Thane's loyalty mission, and when I re-load, his face takes up most of the screen. (I kept that save, of course.) I wouldn't have been able to do that on purpose.

Okay.  Finally caught up reading this thread.  I didn't think it moved too fast until I left it alone for a couple days...

Garrus is Shepard's rock.  It's amazing how malleable his personality is to the point that both paragons and renegades can become really tight with him, but he still retains a strong personality and never really seems like a pushover.  He's extremely loyal but still retains his individuality.

Sooo after a few playthroughs I started to notice little things in the environment I never paid attention to before.  Like, check out this love connection in the entrance to Afterlife.

I promise it is Garrus related--so it made me start thinking about whether or not a turian/human interspecies relationship is a big deal.  On one hand, there's the whole interspecies-awkwardness thing and 'are we crazy for even considering this?' thing.  Which makes me think it's kind of uncommon or sort of taboo.  On the other hand, turians and humans fraternize quite a bit in the ME uni, Mordin has quite a bit of information to give out in regards to the umm mechanics, and Kelly and Kasumi are pretty open about the idea of ShepardxGarrus relationship like the species difference is not an issue.  I wonder if it will be addressed in ME3 or if the relationship between Garrus and Shepard will stay sort of encapsulated like it is in ME2 with no real repercussions outside the two of them.  Maybe the views on interspecies relations differs from place to place?  Maybe on Palavan a turian in a relationship with a human would be unheard of, but in melting pots like Omega or the Citadel where there is a lot of mixing interspecies relationships are common?

Most of the proteins you consume are oriented the same direction. Their molecules have interacted with each other and enzymes in a controlled manner over such a long period on Earth that their 'mirrored' variants no longer occur naturally. Hence we are made up of and function mostly on levo-amino acids, 'levo' meaning 'left'.

'Dextro'(meaning 'right')-amino acids refers to the mirrored variants of all chiral proteins abundant in life. Its as equally possible that dextro-amino acids could constitute the greater portion for life on other planets as levo-amino compounds.

Its the same proteins, the same life, just 'backwards' at the molecular level. A lifeform based on dextro-amino acids could be an exact duplicate of an earth creature, including humans, visually, except that their DNA would actually turn the other direction.

The toxicity interpretations are speculative at best, but consuming specific dextro proteins could cause malfunctions in a levo-based creature's lowest level digestion mechanisms, producing at best the wrong and at worst deadly compounds, but for the most part the enzymes associated with a protein are biased to only that protein like a glove. There are some dextro-amino acids identified that would be toxic to a levo-based creature, but these are high-complexity with no naturally occurring levo variants anyway.

Most 'sweet' tasting things, sugars, are actually dextro variants.

Spearmint leaves actually contain both levo and dextro variants of their amino acids.

For the most part, incompatible amino acids would simply be ignored, and actually tasteless.

What this means:
Garrus will taste like liquid sugar. Screw what Mordin says.

See? It's related to the topic! Sorta..

I think it's pretty clear Kasumi's a stand-in for the fans, given how eagerly she ships practically every couple in the game: Shepard and whoever, EDI and Joker, and the engineering duo - even herself and Jacob. So I wouldn't take her opinions regarding interspecies romance to be anything typical. Nor Mordin's for that matter. Or Kelly's.

Come to think of it, the only person whose opinions I'd trust to be normal would be Joker's because he seems like... well, such an average guy aside from the glass bones, exceptional piloting skills, and quick wit. Or Jacob perhaps.

Mordin might be supportive of your LI choice, but he aknowledges that human-turian relationships aren't a norm on his recruit. If you have Garrus with you, he says something like "Surprised to see Cerberus working with turian. Human-turian relations strained. Racial tension." Garrus is snarky back at him (Image IPB), but I'd say that if the tension between the spieces is enough to make Mordin surprised, then actual inter-spieces relationships are probably not exactly common place. Having said that, the Blue Suns have a primarily human-turian membership, so I guess that blows my reasoning out of the water. lol

I wouldn't trust anything Jacob says. Not after that cuttlebone thing. Also, his irrational hatred of Thane! Image IPB

Yes we do! This for the win! Image IPB (I lolled a lot)  I'm off work tomorrow. Anyone up for another Happy Hour? Image IPB

Science question now: human blood = red. Turian blood = blue, but I'm assuming that together they wouldn't make purple? lol

OK, I promise I'm not that stupid. This is what comes of writing fic on very little sleep: your mind makes weird connections. But seriously, what would the result of human and turian blood getting mixed up (say, in a battle) be? Would it even be noticable? Would it react? Would it mix or remain seperate liek oil and water? I am not a science guy, so I can't even begin to work this out. I just figured if you are fighting in close quarters with someone and there is a blood raction issue, that might be worth noting... Anyone got any clue?

@Umanix. On about 420, we had a minor Archangel related discussion. The symbolism attached to Archangels is very interesting, and differs accross different theologies and mythologies. For example, in some there are 7 Archangles (7 members of Shep's origional squad?), in others, only 3 or 4. The most commonly named ones seem to be Gabrial, Raphael and Michael, and Michael has the most involved stories about him Michael was the angel who vanqueshed Lucifer from heaven, and also acts as the angle who escorts the sould from the body at death. He is also said to be the one who will weigh men's deeds on judgement day, which has interesting implications if you slot Garrus in there... There are also certain factions of belief which put Michael as another incarnation of Jesus, which given the 'Shep is Jesus' readings I've seen bandied about on the internets, opens interesting trains of thought. Also, Lucifer was an Archangel. You take that in conjunction with the whole '7 squad members' train of thinking, and you start coming up with elaborate betrayal stories! (actually, he didn't betray so much as disagree. But whatever. lol) The whole interpration is kind of facsinating. That being said, you can read pretty much anything into anything, if you put your mind to it. You've got to wonder if the writers were aware of any of this, are incorporating any thinking like that into ME3 (conciously or unconciously), or if someone just thought 'You know what sounds like a cool alias? Archangel." "Yeah, man. Put that down in the notes!" lol Still, fun to speculate. Image IPB

Now my teabreak is over, I must get back to work. Doubtless there will be another million pages by the time I get back. lol
