Well, being somewhat of a Tali-hater... or no, that sounds too extreme... a Tali-detractor myself, I can just say that the thing that sets her and Garrus' fandoms apart is that Tali's tend to over-exaggerate everything about her... her romance, her abilities and her personality. Not to mention the frequent picture dumps of the exact same pictures, over, and over, and over, and over, and... well, you get my point.

I don't know how to put it in words, exactly, but... let's say the Tali fandom treat Tali like she was this ultra-polished diamond that just sparkles Edward-worthy rays of purifying, godly light everywhere. From the outside, most people are going to go "Wtf are you guys talking about" and point out that while she's a good character, she's not exactly a flawless, sparkling diamond of a character.

You guys, on the other hand... from what I've seen so far, that is... treat Garrus like a rock, but like a shiny one that's awesome in it's own, distinct way. And that doesn't really bother you because you like this rock despite it being a little "rough around the edges", as you said. And from the outside, people think "Sure, I can go with that" because they acknowledge, just like you do, that Garrus is a good/awesome but not necessarily perfect character.

Also, your definition of "cute" is definitely tamer than theirs. At one point, they believed that Tali hiccuping at the dinner table would necessitate a hug. "Sweet" as it may be, it's enough to give even the most hardy and resilient people diabetes.

Also, the third thing that sets you apart is that you do not go out of your way to defile other characters to get your point across. The point where I really lost it and began to hate... nay, oppose Tali and her fandom, was when someone in their fan-thread posted a comic where Shepard sacrificed Garrus to the collector bees just so she could hug Tali. I just lost it. It was canon defilement at its best.

I naturally asked why the hell Shep would do that to her own squad mate, and they naturally replied that "Garrus would happily give his life for such a noble goal."

Garrus' life. For a hug.

Right, and you wonder why people hate your fandom? If that's not answer enough, I don't know what is.

In any way, this is just my 2 very subjective cents.

I don't agree with Garrus's betrayal, but as janeym27 said, if they do it (which dear whatever I believe in I hope they don't) then they will somehow make it fit and IC, maybe based on the themes posted.

I kind of think that Archangel doesn't have to mean anything supremely deep. I just took as meaning that he leads a team of "angels," or those people he worked with against the criminals of Omega.

Yeah, no kidding...I just finished her mission and the way she jumped up on that ship and disabled the shields, her snappy salute to Hock...so awesome! :wizard:
Having her around makes me want to play Thief 2 again.  Garrett, not Garrus. ;)

OK, Garrus is better.  (But Stephen Russell's voice in those games is the second-sexiest in gaming. <3)

Yeah, it even happens a little when Garrus steps on Fade's neck.  Doesn't stop it from being one of the badassiest scenes in gaming history, though.

He's referencing the fact that I've been poking the Tali-fandom with the troll-stick for a couple of days. Mostly just for fun until they dropped the "Garrus gets eaten by bees so Shepard can hug Tali"-picture. I finally decided to stop being a monumental jerk and focus my energy on something else, like supporting Garrus. In hindsight, it was a very good decision.

And about "that picture"... could you elaborate on that so the newbie may understand what's the deal with it?

Well about people in the tali fans hating on garrus, there is only a very few people who actually dislike garrus. I don't really like tali myself, i haven't really used her much on Mass Effect and my friend went ape-sht on me telling me "WTF is wrong with you?!"



Really, i find kasumi to be a lot more interesting then tali, i just wish they put alot more into her character.

It may be the pregnant Shep picture. It leads to bad mental images... lol

Part of the reason I like Garrus where others may not is precisely because he isn't perfect. He's a flawed character with ultimately good intentions, and his flaws are incredibly easy to point out. I love his awkardness in the romance despite his confidence in other areas, I love how he keeps trying to do what he feels is best (even if that means breaking the rules) only to have it come around and bite him on his flat butt, etc.It makes him real.

Collider seems very passionate about the war against trolls.

Garrus shall never not be in my team. Really makes me feel sorry for him/inspired, that he's always there by Shepard's side when s/he calls for him/her.

I think I've found the key, janeym27. I don't know the common name, but [color=#333333 ] (six 3s, and don't forget the #) is the easiest. Don't forget to close it with [ /color] and take out those spaces.

Uh, have you seen him around? He's not *just* upset with Talimania. If he was, why has he been going to the Tali thread and other threads posting stupid **** simply for the intent of pissing people off? Obvious troll is obvious. Someone just upset with the fandom does not go into the threads and try to ****** people off.

Yeah, this is exactly what I like about him. It makes him - as ironical as it may sound - "human".
