I'm just saying that he's not completely hopeless and helpless without Shepard looking over his shoulder all the time.

Yeah, I thought so too. It was an idealistic goal and maybe it was inevitable for it to fail, but he was doing pretty well for himself for a while there. Losing his mentor brought him down, and seeing the Citadel deny the Reapers frustrated him, but he was able to find some balance for himself for a while there.

True. But I think that he has a habit of trying to shoulder the burden of many on his own (emails from Dr Michelle, the team members wife, etc), and I think when Shepard finds him on Omega he has become lost in his own life: caught up in a quest for vengence that he is unlikly to come out of alive. S/he helps him find himself again, and gives him focus/purpose/ a reason to keep going.
Having said that, his mission dossier after you recruit him says "revelaion of Arrchangel to be Garrus Vakarian will help in making Shepard feel more comfortable" (or something similar). He is a stabilising force in Shepard's life as well.
I often think of the Chakwas/Joker relationship here. Even if your Shep isn't bromanceing/romancing Gar, they still need him.

Yeah, I'm going to agree that Garrus was hit hard by Shepard's death. It wasn't apparent to me at first (I just thought it was lack of development on his part) but it makes sense, in retrospect, that the reason he didn't move on to something else like it seemed like he was going to is because he lost his idol.
Not to mention that, as Joker points out (and you see for yourself) the Council wasn't exactly endorsing your plans. I imagine that really hurt any chance Garrus would want to join the Spectres at that point.
Okay, first, you're awesome for liking Garrus. Second, you're super awesome for having a copy of madolin's Shepard/Garrus picture. Third: how much did it cost cause I need to know how much I need to get out of my bank account for--
Ahem.
Yeah, there's this, plus Garrus can see how the Council continually shuts Shepard down in his/her pursuit of Saren. So much so that Shepard is forced to steal the Normandy at the end of the first game effectively "breaking the rules" (break...the Spectre rules?) to do the job.

Amg... I love this movie.
Tomorrow I can join in Happy Hour, because pay day will come and Bailey's will be purchased and yay!
Almost done with this Meme!
This picture bugs me. The first time I ever did Garrus's recruit, I got this shot. It was of his uncovered eye... at the end...
But since then... it's always been the one with his eye piece...
Driving me nuts.
Garrus's eyes are so pretty!!! I just noticed recently whilst drawing him he has cute little orange streaks in his eye. Which besides being cute, is awesome cause I can relate. Hooray for not being the only one in the universe with random orange streaks in their eyes!!!
Anyways... Holy smokes... I've been gone for three days dealing with the stupid bureaucratic crap known as school and I'm 60 pages behind... What the hell did I miss? XD
As for the whole commentary on this page regarding Garrus and reaching his ultimate low point in ME2 in the recruiting mission.... Shepard is his "shepherd" in the sense she's always served as a guide for him... Of course once she dies, he of course tries to follow her footsteps and stop crime... However it must of been incredibly frustrating seeing the Alliance and Council downplay her death, thus he got fed up and took matters into his own hands on behalf of Shepard and frustration. Thus while he obviously made some sort of an impact, considering he pissed the mercs of beyond all belief, he took on a lot more than he could at that time actually handle. Plus with the betrayal and the death of all his teammates, he was all by himself. Thus I imagine he was planning on being killed, but he was going to fight it out till the end. But of course Shepard returned to redirect her lost lamb <3
So you have an "Archangel" and a "Shepherd" ... Those Reapers don't stand a chance against this dynamic and destined duo

Well, it ain't Bioware, but are any of you planning on hitting Connecticon? Nerd city, in Hartford, Connecticut. I know some of you are around there...Middle of summer, no school, cheap con and hotel rooms, I might be building a Garrus helmet...siltsonata wrote...

Alcohol indeed. If there were ever a Bioware convention (needs to happen. I mean it.) and we all met, it would be a requirement that we go out and get drunk afterwards. (Probably slurring, "Heeeeey...I brought wiiiiine" at each other all night.)
There's actually a surprising amount of Mass Effect at conventions these days; even at Anime Boston, the convention for, you know, anime, I saw a Femshep (Cerberus commander casual outfit), two asari (one was purple), a booth with "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite booth in Artists' Alley", and a booth selling prints of that one Tali picture where she's standing in front of the mirror (clothed variant) and the Garrus/Femshep picture where he has the rockier carapace (got reposted a whole bunch a little while ago). I woulda bought one, but didn't have the $$ (also it is not really the sort of thing I can hang up on my wall, I'm a poor college kid living with her mom).

I might be going, since it's really close and a few friends of mine will probably be walking around in their Steam Punk swank.
Should be fun XD
I totally doubt my hub would help me with a costume though... hrm... I def wouldn't be able to whip up something turian esque... he'd be raggin' on me the whoooole damn time.

$20 USD. Of course, I bought it in person so I'm not sure that's a standard price. But it's probably around there. You'd have to talk to her though. She's selling prints online I believe.

Also guys, I think I've hit a new low. I'm sitting through Beverly Hills Chihuahua because I heard Brandon Keener's in here somewhere. This movie is so stupid....

I always think it's funny that Thane apparently had a rigourous creation process because they had to put a lot of work into creating something appealing to women, yet so many of us go for the turian anyway...heh.
(okay, OT, but page six:
WAIT WHATWhen we made the switch to a more amphibian/fish-like design, the
challenge was to still make him look attractive and sympathetic. So when
I started work on the character, my primary goal was just to make a
believable, badass alien hitman, that the male/female audience would
genuinely want to romance.
Dear me, is that some confirmed cut gay romance?!)

That article's really cool, Stephi! I do love reading about how the artists work (is that a picture of helmetless Collector Armor I see in there? Oh, Bioware...). Nice to hear that they're still working on DLC, though. I need more Mass Effect~

Yeah, but design-wise, that's rarely, if ever, acknowledged. Miranda and Jack aren't designed to cater to women playing Manshep. There don't seem to be any comments to indicate they were trying to make him appeal to men playing Femshep...huh. Bioware, why you do this?Soltana wrote...
Guys make femsheps too, Boots :3
Also, when the hell did a Garrus icon replace the wizard emoticon? Am I the only one seeing this?
^ You guys all see Garrus there too, right?
edit: what the--it changed back?! Really weird...no fooling, my 'standard post' section' has looked something like this for the last few weeks...I never use emoticons, so maybe it glitched and got stuck or something? Dang, using the stupid emoticon seems to have fixed it. A bit of unexpected Garrus made certain posts more bearable...
