Garrus is a wine! A sweet and crisp rose, to be exact. Which costs £66 a bottle.
Now, I know I'm further fuelling my alcoholic reputation with this find, but come on: Garrus wine!!
"Perhaps the world's finest rose wine."
And I think it makes sense for him to be a rose: not red, not white, so he can suit enjoyers of both. lol
Now whenever Garrus brings my FemShep wine, this is the bottle he's bringing her.

@sialater. I know exactly what you mean. I've been owrking on a fic for a couple of weeks which has multiple POVs, and while I want the relationship to be aknowledged, it's not all about the relationship, and every time I write Garrus or Shep POV then I feel like I'm walking a very narrow line. Fan fiction is hard! (never written it before, and I don't mind admitting, it's kicking my ass!) But I agree. I don't think Garrus ever looked at Shepard in that way until she put sex on the table. And I think that only once the sex was put out there, Garrus began to reassess his feelings for her, and she for him. I think that the respect and admiration for her, however, has been there for a while. It's making the distinction between that admiration and friendship, and an actual romantic attraction. (And let's face it, some people have a problem doing that with real life as well. lol)
My toughest justification is why Shepard is making the suggestion in the first place, especially one who romanced Kaidan. So, I threw in some (sexual) frustration and some extra commeraderie (she doesn't have to tell him to do everything like she does her other squadmates, he just does them because he knows how she thinks and he agrees with her so well) and a broken heart. Course, I'm using a shortened Booth and Bones for my model for the most part.

And yes I stay away from fanfic writing partly for that reason as well. :I It's freaking hard, and I don't want to be one of those failfic writers who sound like Stephanie Meyer or something.

lol. Well, I think that reasoning makes sense. I think she goes to Garrus partly because of the like-mindedness thing, but also the trust. He has never let her down, and she feels safe with him kind of thing (not that Shep needs protecting, or can't enjoy sex with whoever she pleases. I just think that in the context of 'blowing offf steam', she'd want a bit of a haven in the storm, not further cosying up with Cerberus, or having to deal with baggage.)
...yeah, my thing is set after O-4 which does kind of take the edge off, but still... there is a good chance this will never be finished. lol
Lovin the artwork, danitiwa.

Yeah, the game writers easily fudged on the "why" of the romance, being as it's up to each of our own imaginings....the thing that makes me feel that there were feelings there (unacknowledged, but feelings) is how quickly he agrees to it at first. He doesn't hesitate until he's had time to think about it. His progression:
"Yeah, definitely!" ----> "Wait....wat? Did she really- did we really-??" -----> "Only if you're sure, Shepard because....y'know." -----> "You're sure you want this? You do? Good. Because I know I do."
Then, the romance scene: "Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. I'm so bad at this. Oh crap." (Just reiterated because I looove his so-adorkable comment about how she makes him nervous.)
I'm not big on squishy, twu-wuv, "I've always loved you!" scenarios either, but what can I say. I love the idea that the feelings were there, he just didn't recognize them as such. For obvious reasons- she's a human, a friend, and his commanding officer. That would have explained away to himself any other 'translation' of those feelings.
Also, Garrus.

Hurray for Garrus.
I'm savouring the calm before the storm. Before this living room will be filled with crazy drunk people. Cheers!

Dantiwa - That picture is looking smashing! Boots is on to something thar...
And Sia, you mentioned using the Booth and Bones model... and now all I can think of is my FemShep/Thane ship would be a Mary and Marshall kinda deal. (Garrus isn't quite so deep as Marshall.)

As far as there being feelings between Garrus and Shepard goes...I see them as very close friends, possibly best friends by the time of ME2. That would mean they already care about each other greatly, just not the same way lovers do. Of course they also greatly respect and trust each other but that's been said time and time again. After some time they probably developed a sense of attraction to one another and their caring feelings slowly changed into something a little deeper. Whether that happened before or after Shepard's suggestion of blowing off steam remains to be seen.

Brofist and dittos for falling in love w/ best friends.
All of this reminds me that I should be at least trying to write more on my latest fanfic....

I was convinced for some time that while Shepard was in the Shower Garrus was outside the door being all embarrassed and trying to suck it up and ring the bell. I wonder if Turrians sweat.

You know, that's still a part of the romance scene I'm wondering about. First you see a close-up of Shepard's face in the shower. Next shot, the bathroom door is open and Shepard walks out fully clothed. The camera turns to Garrus who looks like he's been there all the time, waiting for Shepard and thinking about what he would say when she comes out.
Seriously, the first time I saw that scene I was like "oh hai Garrus. Where the hell did you come from?".
It's kind of weird he came in without knocking first. Not that I'm complaining, but now it looks like he was there all the time, secretly watching Shepard taking a shower. XD

And I think it makes sense for him to be a rose: not red, not white, so he can suit enjoyers of both. lol
Now whenever Garrus brings my FemShep wine, this is the bottle he's bringing her.
I feel like we did NOT make a big enough deal about this post!!!! GARRUS, WINE, PEOPLE!!!!

Haha now I just had a mental image of Garrus hiding under Shepard's bed, which is difficult because Turians are big.

Hush. I didn't see last night's, yet.
As for Garrus being there when Shepard gets out of the shower... They ALL walk in uninvited. Even in Jacob's romance, you're sitting there, chillin' contemplating the meaning of life or whatever and turn your head and PRIIIIZZZZZEEEEE. I'm pretty sure Thane surprises you, too.
Garrus is just the only one who does it while you're in the shower.
Now... as to why? Shepard needs new locks? EDI let him in? Garrus hacked her door (most unlikely)?

This happens in every romance for both genders except Miranda's ridiculous engine room thing. I just think those airlocks are too solid for somebody to hear a knock on the other side or something.
