I think Thane barges in because he's all emotional and stuff, Jacob is just rude (and creepy and sleazy), and Garrus... well, I like to think that he was so fixated on 'getting it right' that he totaly forgot to knock. Like, it just never occurred to him. I can picture him realising it a few days later and being like "Oh, man. Smooth move, Garrus!"



But yes, I have to think that at some point, Shepard is going to have to give the crew a talking to about her personal space. Especially if she's got issues of Fornax lying around.



Having said that, Shepard doesn't exactly knock before she goes to talk to the crew either. Maybe in the future, knocking is an outmoded concept.

Shepard in the shower, Garrus knocks...no one answers

Garrus’ inner monologues

“I’ll just wait outside for while, she must be busy. We’re soon hitting the Omega 4 Relay so yeah.”

Time passes

“Must be a human woman thing...I’ll just knock one more time and wait.”

More time passes

“Is she deaf? I’ll just enter the room and apologies for my intrusion.”

Hears the shower

“Oww...she’s taking a shower...maybe I shouldn’t have...hmmm...I’ll just wait a little more.”

Even more time passes

“Do we even have that much water? I hope it recycles.”

.....time....

“Bought the most expensive wine. I’m sure she won’t notice.”

Again, more time passes

“Damn...the bottle is empty and I am broke.” EDI I need a quick stop to Omega!

Oh man, yes.  This bolded section? New headcanon.  I'mma giggling right now just picturing it, FYI.

And yeah, I didn't really think about that, but Shep is pretty lax when it comes to personal privacy for both her and the crew...I guess privacy is for squares in the future.

I mean come on, don't we all have friends whom we would probably sleep with if they brought it up but we just... don't ever bring it up? It's that Harry Met Sally conversation somebody posted some time ago. Come on, he ~NEVER~ considered it? Even though his first reaction wasn't "EWWWW SHEPARD GROOOOOSSSS." Even if he had never worked out the mechanics of it, no way he could have been so receptive if it had never even entered the realm of remote consideration on some passing, base, unemotional level. As to Shepard's mindset throughout, that's up to you.

I think it was mostly the human/turian thing. He never considered it to be a possibility because of that, even though on the personal emotional level there's really nobody better for him than Shepard. When Harry Met Sally isn't quite the same situation.

Exactly. How we are used to a relationship progressing is base attraction/lust, turning into a deeper attraction, later turning into mature love. With Garrus and Shep, however, it's apparent they weren't going to get that base attraction, so it started out as a friendship, then turned into a deep respect/admiration with some recognition of common traits thrown in for good measure. They basically developed all of the qualities of a good relationship first, and the romantic feelings/desire came last. To me that's the whole reason I liked the idea of a Garrus romance in the first place. There was never any "Woah she's sooo hawt I totally must have her RAWR!!"

And then it takes Garrus until the culmination of the romance to even realize what the ramifications of it all are. The "Just once" line gets me every time. Like maybe he sees Shep as his last chance to have something in his life that doesn't blow up in his face. Like a rocket.

This.  It sneaks up on them.  But at the end, they both realize what it is.

I REALLY hope they don't screw it up for us in 3.

I don't know. I've had friends make moves on me and had it just bellyflop because I just didn't ever think of them that way. If there's not already some kernal of an outside remote possibility of even considering it, I think the normal response to having that dropped on your lap is to just back away slowly. It's hard to think of a real-world equivalent, but that's just what makes sense to me. There wouldn't have been an active pining or lusting or romantic longing, but just the ability to size each other up and think "not bad."

As for Garrus being in Shepard's room.... All the doors are coded to open for particular people. Some are locked some aren't. And I'm sure Shepard programmed her door to let particular people in. I think Shepard coded her door to let the people she wouldn't mind coming in. Either that or EDI went 'She won't mind... teehee. That was a joke.' and let Garrus in. <3

Shepard: Oh crap, it's a burglar!

*Shepard knocks Garrus unconscious.*

Shepard: Oh no, it's Garrus! EDI, patch me through to Mordin! I need some medi-gel up here, quick! I don't think he's breathing!

Wow, that's a good drawing. He looks quite young and cute.

I think silentstephi said it, that turians probably wouldn't kiss, as their lips don't look that sensitive. There's still a little flex there, so it doesn't stop brushing lips together or maybe a little tongue. I don't think they're turtle lips and they'd bite off Shepard's, though.

I just see Garrus's entrance as a timely arrival, and Shepard probably did let him in or call him up sometime before.

Ugh, so much wine talk around ._.

And seriously though, I drink very little. Yesterday was the first time I had gotten even a little tipsy in years. IMHO drinking is not an important part of socializing; we don't want to pressure poor Flammie into becoming an after school special.
