Hear hear. I can get on board with this reasoning. "Welder" was the first thing that leapt to mind. But, I still like the piece overall, so I'll still purchase one.

This isn't anywhere near done yet but I thought I'd just share it here. Real one is a lot bigger but w/e. I also don't really like the default female Shepard so I put in my own (or maybe I'll toggle helmet, not sure yet.) And yes, Mordin is my second favorite. :D

it would still come down to Kaiden's behavior most likely, whether he insults G or Shep, or throws the first punch, or what not.  (Hard to imagine Kaiden throwing a punch either though.)  Soap opera material or not....I'd really like to see them get in a little scuffle over my Shep ^^

Am I the only one who thinks that Garrus would go all gentlemanly on Kaidan, and continue down the route 'He's your species, I'll step aside and just stand there as if nothing has happened, no sweat'
Kaidan, on the other hand, would pout, and look hurt. And when punched, Kaidan would probably start crying out of self pity and flood the engineering. No punching Kaidan, for Normandy's sake.

I would ONLY accept this scenario if you had a Renegade Interrupt to slap Garrus in the gawddamn face.  And then he would burst into shiny turian tears and admit that he was just trying to be the better man for you, and cue the sappy Daytime Soap Opera music.

By ME3 he BETTER fight for me (and he better like it!).  :pinched:

Would the condoms be just as bad? Kevlar condoms! I wonder what the condom commercials in the future would look like? As spokesperson of sorts for humans, I think Shepard should endorse condoms. B)

Commercial announcer: Hey ladies. Are you tired of your average human condoms tearing while you're with you Turian lover? Well, try our new line of condoms, The Turian, built to withstand chaffing during those nights of 'reach and flexibility'.
Shepard: Hi, I'm Commander Shepard and I endorse this product. ;)

Commercial announcer: Now available in 6 new flavors.

Shepard: I like "liquid sugar".:o

My Renegade has gone gaga over Garrus and completely thrown over Kaidan. For the moment anyway, she's very fickle. But who can't love a man with such good lines? My Renegade is wondering what Palaven looks like, and wants to meet the Elder Vakarian to get an idea of what Garrus will look like when he is older. (Oh come on, who didn't go back and check out Septimus and Lorik? I can't be the only one.)

Are you trying to work out your sexual compatibility with another species? We've done the work for you! Trojans! Earth's favorite brand of sexual prophylactics are now available for Amino and Levo DNA chains! Cut down potential irritation from cross-species fluid contacts with a name that has been trusted for safe sex for centuries! Trojans. No matter who's penetrating what, we give you the protection you need. Just check the handy color-coded chart on the back of every box to help you find the protection you need for yourself and your partner! Remember, if it's good enough protection for Commander Shepard and her alien of choice, it's good enough for you!

Haha, yes!  I thought he looked like a mechanic too.  In fact, if it had been the Mako he was sitting on I just might have bought a litho.  ^_^  I really hope Bioware comes out with more merchandise.  Perhaps one of those awesome hoodies in girl sizes (gasp!)?

Besides a doll and lithos, what sort of Garrus merchandise would you want to see?  A plushie, of course, but I'm trying to think how they can make Garrus-specific clothing...perhaps a hoodie like the N7 one, but with an Archangel band on the arm and a little scouter on the hood?  :kissing:

This thread is pissing me off, I should stop reading it.

Well, I took one glance through the first page and didn't bother reading the thread - should have stopped at the topic title, but I wanted to get an idea of just what the train of thought was. In cases like this you're dealing with people who are basically missing the point entirely and should be politely ignored because there can be no reasoning with them - they just don't get it. And besides, it's their loss, ^_^. They seem to think that physical appearances are what make and break it all, which is nonsense. Not to mention, I can think of a few things that humans like to engage in extracurricular activities with that make having sexual relations with sentient aliens look like child's play...come on...horses? And we all know about the sheep and the dogs.

I don't want to hear about how weird it is to do it with an alien when humans will clearly stick anything into or stick into anything to get their rocks off.

The point is, I find the alien personalities more engaging than any of the human ones. If they were real people, I would like them, a lot. I could certainly like some of them strongly enough to love them, and any sentient species is capable of love and emotion. That's all you need in the end.

I've said it a million times - you can find any respective species to be handsome or attractive - they don't have to be yours to recognize this. Add in sentience and you've got all the ingredients you need to have sexual attractiveness as well. If they're interested in you and you're interested in them - especially on the emotional level - you're going to feel it just as you would with a human, and just as you would a human that you love - you'll want to please them physically in whatever way you can.

Appearances alone are superficial. There is far more to it than that.

Just as an example; there are people in the world who become horribly disfigured in accidents of all kinds and appearance wise they many no longer look very human, but is anyone going to say that it's weird to love them or want to have an intimate relationship with one? That's ridiculous. They're still people with dreams, emotions, and opinions and they certainly don't deserve that sort of treatment.

Wow, great wall of text!

Well, if you read my post in that same thread:  I don't think, if the aliens looked like that, acted like that, and were real, I'd be dating one--I could be wrong, of course, but somehow it strikes me that it'd be harder to fall for an alien in reality than it would be in a game.  I don't find them physically attractive, probably because the face is the first thing that attracts me, rather than the body shape.  But I enjoy the alien romances in the game, because I'm with you on one point:  the alien personalities are usually more interesting, and less annoying--or offensive--than the human ones.  Despite being directly propositioned, Garrus for instance is not just after sex (what with all the talk about "us" he's apparently hoping it will be something more), and he never once tells Shepard he wanted to put a control chip in her head.  What's with that, anyway?  I doubt, if he vanishes or becomes a cameo in ME3 (assuming you let him live--but YOU DID DIDN'T YOU?) that he'll flip out at Shepard--even if she ditches him for someone else.  In fact it strikes me that he'd step aside for Alenko (He seems to assume Shepard would be happier with someone more... human--and who knows?  He might be right in the long run.).

Well, obviously the entire world is never going to agree on any one point, ever. I know personally that I would, as you say "date" an alien if they had one of the many engaging personalities that you encounter in ME2.  But I've had an experience or two where someone who I didn't find attractive at all changed dramatically in my eyes when I got to know them. I know that I'll be attracted to someone who connects with me on an emotional level, no matter what they look like or what sentient species they are, because finding someone who is that close to you on the mental level is not easy and it means everything.

I find the turians attractive in general though, I found Wrex attractive because his personality was stellar and that's what drew me to him, and I know that anyone whose got a personality that grabs me is going to attractive me physically in turn because that's how I roll.

No, Garrus wouldn't be right in the long run, but he is being cautious which I won't fault him for - however, there's no reason why a human person would be more happier with a human than with a sentient alien - not in my case.  And I let everyone live because I enjoy playing the game... Why anyone would skips missions is beyond me - they are the game.

I'm not going to worry about whether or not Garrus coming back in a major role in ME3 at this point though. It's going to be a long wait, but I'm optimistic and it's not worth fretting over for 2 years. I'm fairly sure he will be coming back as a squadmate, along with several others. Could be wrong, but that's just my feeling, but whatever happens, happens.

EDIT* As for Kaidan....well, he's dead. Garrus won that contest before it even started so he doesn't have to step aside for anyone.

I too found Turians as a whole attractive, and was attracted to Wrex. Wrex is totally awesome and I would be at a crossroads if I had to choose between him and Garrus. My boyfriend thinks I would go with Wrex no questions asked, he's more my type in a sense.

As for that alien dating topic, I talked to my boyfriend about it a couple of weeks back. Talking about how people are comapring it to beastiality. He always thought Turians looked like cats and made fun of Garrus playing with a ball of yarn and catnip. I mentioned how if our animals became sentient and could have long educated conversations if more people would get involved. We also talked about how backwards our society is when a woman can marry a dolphin and a guy his dog, but gay marriage ruins the institute of marriage. It's legal to marry outside of your species, but god(s) forbid you marry someone from the same gender.

Hahaha... <3 :D  the thread was pissing me off too, but I vented my 2 cents worth (and after edting it 3 times it turned it something postable and logical rather than a test of the filters :P) and then I came back here and saw the pretty tree and now I'm good again because people are not all big odd trees ^_^

...but really, Turians and condoms? Are we suspecting Garrus of having the scale itch? tsk tsk :P I'm guessing they would probably need to be, uhm, extra sturdy though

I think its just important to have safe sex. Besides with human/Turian fluids being at odds it's less painful with protection. Until there is a shot, like the ones they have for human females that are allergic to their partner's sperm, it's condoms all the way.

I still think Kelly brought the Scale itch on board.

The only reason I would think condoms between a human and turian would be necessary is if your FemShep's..."no-no areas" would be susceptible to allergic reactions from Garrus's...ahem. Ugh. Please don't make me ruin the fantasy by thinking of this; I've already read how some people think just swapping spit could kill FemShep, and I am completely under the impression that the entire "anaphylactic shock" talk with Mordin was an extreme (and thus unlikely) scenario.

Nope, still working on it. :<

I don't actually want Garrus to defend Shepard, even if he did on Horizon.  Shep's a big girl, she can throw Kaiden biotically all by herself.  Or punch him, or whatever.  While the sentiment is nice, Shep doesn't need a man of any species to stand up for her honor. ;)

Yeah, I know it's a little caveman, but I can't help it, I love that kind of thing. Of course FemShep would be totally appalled at the insinuation and try to peacemake between the two, as is her character, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to see it. Hey, if guys can get catfights.. xD

RE: Lithograph: Although I don't like the lithograph that much (boo, ManShep! Also, Garrus doesn't have his tatts, and seems to have scarring despite it being from the Archangel mission...?), I considered buying one just because it's Garrus, but seeing as they're sold out now... is anyone else giddy that Garrus is the only one sold out? Go Garrus! :D

Yeah. Silver lining in and all that. Just resends the message to Bioware that Garrus is one of the popular characters!

Trying my hand at more one-shot fanfiction tonight. Just trying to figure out what each squadmate is thinking post-collector base. Trying to get inside a fictional character's head is hard :/ Can't decide if I want to do Miranda, Jack or Thane next. I'm not touching Garrus or Tali. I'll let better writers handle them.

Edit: Why does everyone hate the Turian council member so much? Dude just needs to chill. I want to be his friend so much in ME3. There's gotta be a away to paragon/charm him out of his airquotexterior. I just don't like it when Turians are ****s to my Femshep :/   I can't imagine having a save where you killed the council, just because I hear the Rodam Expeditions fellow in the Zakera wards treats you like crud.

Garrus' chin is too huge in that lithograph. Glad it's sold out, though. Wouldn't tempt me to bash my wallet looking for change and shows BW just who is the most awesome character in this series.
