You mean when we're waking up on the filthy floor of the Dark Star's unisex restroom?

P.S. - Bit of a callback, but speaking of green eyes/Nihlus/etc.. -- really enjoyed Samara's recollection of battling him through the wilderness for a fortnight before he finally exploits her Code to make his escape. Unusually bright for him. I love the guy, but man, I will never get how he didn't see something wasn't quite right with Saren in ME1. His old friend was blatantly half mechanical for crissakes, tubes all up in.... Ah, Nihlus.

The thing that confused me about Samara's story with Nihlus was that she was chasing after him at all. He's a turian and a Spectre so you'd think that he would be above Samara's code. Turian - outside of asari justicar jurisdiction (would cause a cross-species political incident) and a Spectre - agents that operate for the Council which represent the whole galactic community vs Samara - a justicar who only represents the asari community. I don't know, her actions just seem a little strange in retrospect, but maybe she doesn't bother with details like that. "There is only the Code," after all. FFFUUU. Anyway, the moral of the story is: Nihlus is cool and smart, except when it comes to Saren.

Didn't she say something about seeing him execute an innocent? She didn't necessarily have to be chasing Nihilus, just there when he breaks her Code.

I said it in another thread, Garrus is practically the face of the ME franchise next to Shepard. Without Garrus, there is no Mass Effect. Bioware knows this.

Agreed. With Tali too, of course. Would be nice if the two *basic* squadmates of ME3 were Tali and Garrus, instead of randomly insterted humans for the sake of an all-human starter squad.

I'd love for something like this as your first interaction with Garrus in ME3:

"Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some....just kidding Commander, what can I do you for?"

BRILLIANT! This needs to happen.

I did enjoy the mention of Nihlus in Samara's backstory, but it made me sad. :(

Nihlus' appearance marked the point I got really excited for Mass Effect. I was like, "Yeah, space, cool... WOAH! Who is that?? This guy is awesome!"

Also, backreading in the old thread, and I love the theory that the turian council member is related to Nihlus and that's why he's got the stick up his backside.

I guess that still doesn't explain why she doesn't recognize that Nihlus' authority as a Spectre overrules her authority as a justicar, regardless of her Code. I guess my only question regarding the story is if she knew that Nihlus was a Spectre when she was chasing him or if she learned that after the fact. If the latter case is true, I would no longer be confused because it would be explained away.

Whoa, I didn't see that... I'll never look at that guy the same way again.

Turian Council Member: "Ah yes, 'Reapers'. We've dismissed that claim."
Shepard: *starts to cry* "Dude, I am SO sorry."

YES.

And Tali. My Shepards can't roll without his/her two favorite dextro aliens by his/her side.

Justicars and Spectres. Two special forces that behave outside the law. They'd have to clash eventually.

What can I say? My Shepard has a weakness for men with scars. ;D

I think it's pretty obvious Samara wouldn't care that Nihlus was a Spectre. She's like the Asari version of Spectres, sees herself as above the law. She was willing to take down Shepard if she needed to (or rather, try to), obviously she doesn't care much for titles.

Would be great if this was canon. I'd like to see some emotion from the Turian council memeber outside of general dickery. I guess I typically like compassion over revenge. I'd much rather make him see things my way rather than ruin him politically or what have you.

When they first tell you about that upgrade, I naively assumed that the option to use it in on Garrus would be provided as well.  At the same time, I'm kinda glad you didn't have the option though, because I would have had a tough time deciding.  I kinda like the battle-scarred Garrus :D.  I ended up never even purchasing the thing because it was 50,000 platinum and I *never* had enough bloody platinum as it was.

Actually, I'm willing to bet you could set up a pretty good drinking game to ME2...
"Okay! Two shots everytime Garrus mentions calibrations!"

Next day,
"Okay, next time we'll just do one shot per mention...or maybe just smell the bottle..."

I've already got one:  Shot of rum for every time Garrus makes me squee.

.....I'm out of rum.

I was very angry when I saw the scars on him. I reloaded to do the renegade interrupt on the batarian fixing the Gunship just to see if he'd get the scars. It still went bad. I didn't like the scars at first but as crazy as this souns I hope he keeps them.Maybe keep them as a reminder of his failure against the mercenaries.

I got one in my first playthrough... forgot I had it though until I was such a radiating beacon of paragon-i-ness that I had no more scars anyway. Hours of probing wasted!

I'm pretty partial to the scars as well. I have to admit though, when I played the first Mass Effect (about 2 weeks before ME2 was released, nener nener no wait for me) Garrus was the kid that needed to sit, cool off and just be patient, young man. And then I started playing ME2 and it was like, whoa...he grew up. Nicely.

He definitely matured in ME2. I don't think he was necessarily "immature" in ME1, but you can definitely see the effect of his new experiences. It's sad that it's a lesson he had to learn by losing all of his teammates, though.

I was really worried at first that ME2 was going to change Garrus into something he wasn't. Thankfully it was done beautifully, they gave the character growth without changing him too drastically from the turian we know and love. Really, BioWare handled that aspect really well for a majority of the characters.

I don't have any recommendations since I don't really read fanfic, but Eradyn compiled a very thorough list of Garrus fanfiction in one of the Garrus groups: http://social.biowar...iscussion/3073/
